Elenzar the Bastard |

Elenzar loads his crossbow. "Oh sorry not on horses does not guarantee that they are not riding something else. Are we making our stand here, are we riding in to them. I think we should make some effort to get the young to safety."

Ye Old Storyteller |

Taliesin is at 210 feet, Forfax at 140 feet distance from the two riders.
"Blast! Protect the children, I'll get them back." He says to Nathaniel, David and Elenzar.
He then pulls the reins of his horse and turns, then bolts towards the two Greenbrookers chasing off.
"Back!" he snaps at Taliesin and then pursues Forfax and Scout.
"What do you think you're doing?!" He calls out to him.
Nathan is now at 190 feet distance to the riders.
Elenzar, Nathaniel and David may take a round's worth of actions, then roll Initiative.
Init Nathan: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
The two riders seem to converse and a rough laugh is heard over the plains. They both look in unison behind them and then back at the charging riders in front of them.
The area is wide open plains, with some hilly terrain amongst it. The area towards the riders is pretty even, but behind them there's a small hill.

Elenzar the Bastard |

Are the rest of us able to see the enemy at this point? Is the only hill behind them. As in they are between us and the nearest hill? Are there any hills that look steep for a horse to ride or have very limited ways to get to the top. Like a rocky hill with some shear areas that if we all got on the few fighters left could make a stand and there be only one or two ways for the enemy to climb the hill. Sorry for the questions.

Ye Old Storyteller |

The hills are not that steep, there is a slight elevation in the landscape, it's not difficult terrain for a horse to move on nor so steep to get any movement penalties. The amount of rocks is almost not worth mentioning. Just a round hill from which you can oversee the slightly lower plains. No problem in asking questions Elenzar.
Edit to my previous post
"Don't try to be an heroic fool. Charging in alone will get you killed." Nathan says as Forfax looks back and then turns to Taliesin with a stern look.

Elenzar the Bastard |

Elenzar looks at the worsening situation. He addresses his comrades, "Circle up as best we can keep the kids and Mariel in the middle." He turns to Mariel and the children, "Stay in the circle and get those crossbows ready." He winks at the one who shot him. "Aim for the mount we don't want them to charge us."

![]() |

Hearing Nathan's plea Forfax comes to his senses and turns Scout around and heads back toward the children yelling to Taliesin as he passes "No, you dolt, we must protect the children. You saw what they did the that scout back there and he was wearing armor, if they get past us just think what they would do to them."

Ye Old Storyteller |

I'll put Taliesin 30 feet closer at 180 feet of the riders and then let him decide if Forfax's speech makes him reconsider or not.
David may still take a round's worth of actions
After David has acted
Another rider comes up behind the others, and rides down the hill. The other riders make gestures and point your way.

David, is visibly worried that if the men are riding wolves, that they are somehow in league with the goblins. He racks his brain, trying to figure out what to do, he decides a defense is the best course of action.
move action, draw crossbow, standard action cast mage armor: AC now 16/15/15 for 3 hours

Taliesin Flamel |

That is the whole point Forfax to engage them far away from the children before they move closer and engaged us with ranged weaponry. David can stay in the back with them he doesn't need to be close.
Teliesin still run to meet the enemy DM

![]() |

"Taliesin by racing off straight at them they can pick us off one by one, fastest going first. If we head back and defend as a group our combined strength has a better chance of defeating them then we do running up one at a time. Look behind you, no one is following, you're all alone. If I race ahead I will also be alone and by the time you get there it may be to late for me."

Ye Old Storyteller |

The group of wolf riders laugh again loudly, the sound echoing across the plains.
Their wolves howl as they spur them on and they come running at Taliesin, Nathan and Forfax as they stand further away of the group.
Micah and Raff fumble around with their crossbows and start loading them, Ciril raises his longbow and Mariel seems ready to do something as well, but her main concern lies with the protection of the children.
It's more clear now, that the riders are indeed goblins and they wield a large sword, at the moment they swing it above their heads.

The riders get stuck into combat with Nathan and Taliesin both taking a nasty cut from the large and slightly curved blades of the goblins.
Forfax barely manages to turn Scout at the last second to avoid the incoming blade.
The wolfs snarl and look eager to get stuck in as well, the goblins though look like they're in a frenzy and see only their next target.

Ye Old Storyteller |

They have charged the group that moved on ahead, they are 40 feet away from you Elenzar, 45 feet off from the Olkirk refugees. standing behind you. There are actually only three goblins and their wolf mounts of course.
Nathaniel hits the goblin squarely on his chest with the hammer. The goblin makes a noise like an oomph, but still sits easily in the saddle and grins at Nathaniel.

Forfax hits Goblin rider nr.2 with his bill, a glancing blow to his side, piercing the leather armour he's wearing. The goblin doesn't seem to be too bothered by it though. Scout aims to bite the wolf, but is too hesitant to come near the snapping jaws of the big wolf.
Micah and Raff aim their crossbows, but hesitate for a clearer shot, as they don't want to hit any of the Greenbrookers.
Ciril is less hesitant as he has practised his archery. "Like this boys!"

A terrified cry follows from Micah."So sorry!"
Raff finds an unprotected spot on the second goblin and hits him in his right leg.
Nathan swings his sword at the goblin in front of him, aiming for the unprotected arms and sides. A deep gash across the right arm of the goblin makes him flinch and he looks troubled out of its eyes.

The goblins seem to enjoy fighting you, but the one fighting Taliesin looks around.
Nathan seems badly hurt though.

The second wolf yelps under Forfax and Scout's attacks, obviosuly it's in pain, but it still looks fierce as it's rider spurs it to continue its attack.

David, unsure who to target looks around to see which enemy is hurt the worst, he loads his crossbow but instead of firing he decides at the last second to go a different route. He channels arcane energy, and sends two globes of force hurtling at the injured wolf.

Ye Old Storyteller |

The missiles slam into the wolf and kill it instantly, blood dripping from it's mouth the goblin rider tries to jump off at the last second.

It fails and falls with it, the goblin is prone and stuck under the wolf for now. Prone and Flat-footed.
Made a mistake in writing I see, Forfax hits the rider, so both the rider and the wolf yelp in pain. The goblin's yelp seems more of delight though.

Ye Old Storyteller |

I'm not forgetting Taliesin, he's shaken alright. The next goblin (nr.2)(also without a wolf now and trapped underneath it) is at 10 feet from you, the third (goblin nr.1) is 10 feet from him, but you'll have to maneuver around the others to get to him without provoking AoOs
