Round 1 - Recap

As Braden's greasy spell settles onto the ground before Tybek and Arindale, the two goblins before them find their footing very tricky.

Goblin(-C/8) Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Goblin(-C/9) Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

While attempting to draw their shortswords, both slip and fall to the ground with very concerned looks on their overly large faces.

Round 2

The bigger goblins move forward to replace their fallen comrades and what appears to be a huge goblin steps forward. This one is nearly twice the size of the others and is yelling at the ones before it in the strange language of the goblins.

Knowledge(local) DC12:

This muscular humanoid is a bugbear, the biggest and strongest of the common goblinoids. Bugbears speak Goblin and Common. This result also reveals all humanoid traits.

Knowledge(local) DC17:

As well as being considerably stronger, healthier and more light footed than the average human, bugbears have an affinity for moving quietly despite their bulk. Combined with their natural darkvision, these qualities add up to a creature very well suited for raids on camp sites in the dead of night.

Knowledge(local) DC22:

Bugbears tend to live in small tribal units, with the biggest and meanest of them the tribal leader by default. They tend to have but two goals in life: food and treasure, and a group of adventures would be considered a great source of both.

The remaining goblins then swing their swords at whoever is before them.

Goblin Leader(-C/6) @ Glorfin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1

Goblin (-C/10) @ Zert: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

The two goblins on the ground pull out their tiny rusty dogslicers and swing for Arindale and Tybek's ankles.

Goblin Guard(-C/8) @ Arindale: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 2 - 4 = -1
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Goblin Guard(-C/9) @ Tybek: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 2 - 4 = 10
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

While many of the swings are ineffectual, the large goblin manages to land a weak blow which gets through Glorfin's armor. One of the guards also manages to barely poke the dog. Finally, the goblin facing Zert lands a solid strike which seems to just enrage Zert and his bloodlust even more.

Finally, the goblin shaman begins to wave her hands around wildly and begins to cast another spell.

Daze:

Daze

School enchantment (compulsion) [mind-affecting]; Level bard 0, sorcerer/wizard 0

Casting Time 1 standard action

Components V, S, M (a pinch of wool or similar substance)

Range close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)

Target one humanoid creature of 4 HD or less

Duration 1 round

Saving Throw Will negates; Spell Resistance yes

This spell clouds the mind of a humanoid creature with 4 or fewer Hit Dice so that it takes no actions. Humanoids of 5 or more HD are not affected. A dazed subject is not stunned, so attackers get no special advantage against it. After a creature has been dazed by this spell, it is immune to the effects of this spell for 1 minute.

Concentration:

Spell: If you are affected by a spell while attempting to cast a spell of your own, you must make a concentration check or lose the spell you are casting. If the spell affecting you deals damage, the DC is 10 + the damage taken + the level of the spell you're casting.

If the spell interferes with you or distracts you in some other way, the DC is the spell's saving throw DC + the level of the spell you're casting. For a spell with no saving throw, it's the DC that the spell's saving throw would have if a save were allowed (10 + spell level + caster's ability score).

Save-Shaman: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 vs DC15 I assume that being dazed would cause her to lose her concentration, but cannot find any rule regarding this. Please give me a cite if anyone has one.

Tybek brings his axe down on one of the goblins slipping on the floor, causing it to cease slipping and begin bleeding.

Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Zert then makes short work of the goblin before him as well cackling gleefully as his sword again slices through the goblin's pitiful defenses.

Glorfin swings for the larger goblin standing before him, but the goblin just manages to defect the blow with its shield. Likewise, Arindale again misjudges just how short these goblins are.

The dog again attacks the goblin before it. While the dog only takes a small bite, it manages to knock the goblin leader to the ground:

From the back you hear Ranim singing while Braden speaks in some arcane language. The result is the shaman suddenly losing her concentration while confusedly shaking her head as though she just woke up. The bugbear also shakes his head, but only for a moment before growling and then moving around the greasy surface to swing at Zert landing a nasty blow.

DM Chaos:

I threw up a spoiler entitled concentration citing the rules from the PRD and core on my last post because I had just looked them up.
If you check that spoiler, I think that the daze spell will not distract or interfere unless the shaman is affected.
If affected by a nondamaging spell, the full round summon spell requires a DC of Spell(15 in this case)+level of spell being cast(2 in this case) or DC17 concentration check to pull off.
That is how I read it. So the successful daze stops the shaman from acting and requires the shaman to concentrate to complete the full round summoning spell successfully.

Watching Zert and the bugbear square off, Braden can only think:
Zert is occupying the nasty one. He is pulling his weight.

Braden sees his summoned dog disappear, his work done. Braden gives him a quick salute; glad he returns to his home alive. He yells to the group:"The dog put the leader down, hit him before he gets up." The small wizard steps back to make another dog. A dimensional portal begins to form.
Move back (B9 is fine) and cast summon monster I(full round casting time). I'll move and status the dog in my posts.

DM Chaos on the spoiler concentration comments:

Here is the definition of the dazed condition, I think it makes it clear:
"Dazed: The creature is unable to act normally. A dazed creature can take no actions, but has no penalty to AC.
A dazed condition typically lasts 1 round." he would not be able to concentrate since he can't act normally or take any actions and lose the spell. But the Shamen can defend itself.

Tybek switches his attention to the large bugbear and lands a solid, but not debilitating blow.

Well, that blows chunks...DM Chaos, are there critical fumbles in your game or is a nat-1 just a miss? CRB doesn't saying about critical fumbles, only hits.

I think that crit fumbles are fair game. I would say make a second roll and if you get a 5 or lower (25%) then you drop your weapon. This works out to about a 1.25% chance which I think is reasonable. So in your case, you dropped your sickle. - Remember, this is a two way penalty, so if enemies crit miss, they will get the same result. For monsters with natural attacks they will lose their next attack with that weapon (claw got stuck in fur, ended up off balance, etc.) Not all their attacks, just the one that was missed with. Perhaps not completely realistic, but I think it balances out things between weapon wielders and non-weapon users since you guys can pick up your weapon and take an AoO and still get an attack in - monsters will simply lose the next attack, but not draw any AoO unless they are also wielding weapons.

If this ends up being too much work or unbalances things, then I will modify it at that point.

Round 4 - recap
Once again Glorfin swings his mighty hammer, and once again the ground next to a goblin pays the price.

Tybek swings his axe and the hatred of his goblinoid opponent shows through as he lands a punishing blow.

As Braden finishes his spell, another dog appears behind the bugbear. It yips and bites at the the bugbear, but fails to get more than a mouthful of hair from the bugbear's leg.

Having connect the first time, Maegge draws his scythe back and takes a mighty swing, unfortunately the swing was great, his grip on the handle was not so great, resulting in the weapon slipping from his hands and falling to the ground.

Ranim, figuring that the battle is well in hand, stops singing and lashes out with her whip at the bugbear. The long lash sneaks above Tybek's head and strikes the monster in its chest opening a nasty wound.

Seeing his shorter companion miss the elusive goblin, Arindale also swings at the goblin in front of Glorfin, and as with Glorfin misjudges the quickness of the little green annoyance which dances aside from the blow.

As this is going on, Zert drops his shield and again swings for the stars, this time with two hands, in an attempt to eliminate the bugbear before him.

Zert not only lands a blow, but after the numerous wounds caused by Ramin and Tybek, his sword completely slices through the bugbear lopping off its head with a clean swing.

Knowing that her time is short, the Shaman casts one more spell.

Spellcraft DC17:

Attack-ranged touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

The bolt strikes Braden causing a dark black wound to appear on his neck and face. The small hobbit immediately falls to the ground rapidly dying.

The three remaining goblins all renew their attacks on Glorfin, one shifting to -C/6 to get an attack.

Attack@Glorfin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Attack@Glorfin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Attack@Glorfin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

However, this time all three swings either miss completely or harmlessly bounce off his shield. It is clear that their resolve is wavering. One even dropping his sword after it bounces off the dwarf's shield.

Party up - I will probably not get any updates tomorrow until evening at best.

Ranim's song, the uplifting magic still lingering, takes a new shift of healing as she moves to Braden's unconscious form, letting the magic of song flow into the hobbit's body to heal his wounds.

Standard cast Cure Light Wounds, move to Braden, free action to touch him.

Though his aim was still less than able, at least his skin was not yet further marked. Seeing Braden laid low, Glorfin trusts to the arts of Ranim to keep him from death and re-re-re doubles his stilted assault upon the goblin before him...

Round 5

Once the bugbear is slain, Tybek will begin making his way towards the Shaman, but he will first strike at any goblins on the way.

Chaos, I am not clear which goblins are alive, but I will trust you to move Tybek appropriately. He will attack -C8 first. If he is dead, Tybek will move to -C8 and attack -C7 next. If that one is dead, he will move up to -D7 and attack -C6.

Boy, you guys really stunk with your attack rolls that round. Ouch.

Round 4 - recap

The party continues to assault the floor, several shadows, and even one dust devil stirred up by the might of Glorfin's swing.

Seeing the halfling fall, and then maddened by his quick revival, the goblins continue to attack.

I have been forgetting to add +1 to their attacks for bless all along.

Round 5
The goblins once again swing at the dwarfimar.

Attack@Glorfin: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 2 + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Two of them manage to land blows, although one barely breaks his defenses and the other slices a small gash on his leg.

At the same time, the shaman who is looking completely crazed at this point starts shouting:
Burn, Burn, Burn.

You see a ball of flame appear in her hand which she throws at the barley healed Braden.

Attack-ranged touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Fortunately for the wee hobbit, the ball of flame misses its target striking the wall behind him.

Party up. 3 goblins left in -C/6-8, the shaman is in -D/4.

He's travelling / on vacation now, so not sure how long you'll want to wait before just DMPC-ing.

The GM should just go ahead and roll, he has a better chance of hitting than Glorf and Arin... :]

Ah - forgot he was on the road for a week or two.

Round 6

Glorfin
The celestial dwarf, getting more and more annoyed with his inability to strike the shifty goblins, swings once again at the still unharmed green annoyance before him.

Attack-Glorfin@-C/7: 1d20 + 4 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 4 - 1 + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 + 1 = 14

With some assistance from the DM, Glorfin's swing finally strikes true causing a sudden look of pain followed by the sound of breaking bone as the goblins entire ribcage is crushed into its chest.

Round 6 recap
I erred on the last post. I did not realize that Tybek was already standing next to the goblin, so he would not have moved and gotten the flanking bonus.

The party continues its unending assault, unending because they do not seem to feel a need to actually strike most of the remaining goblins. Once again Tybek and Ramin attempt to scare the goblins by swinging their weapons mere inches from their intended targets, but draw no blood or otherwise injure the targets of their wrath. Glorfin finally decides that enough is enough and places his warhammer against a goblin's chest with great momentum behind it. The result being a goblin with a chest that more closely resembles a dented bowl of blood.

Zert moves onto the greasy area, whether intentionally or without knowledge that it is there you are uncertain.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

However, he moves across it with more style than you would have expected from a professional dancer. He then moves behind one of the remaining goblins and again swings his sword with two hands.

Attack-Zert@-C/8: 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 1 - 1 + 2 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 2 + 1 = 13

While you are sure that the goblin felt the wind from the mighty swing, the only damage that it likely caused was to several flies disturbed by the whole combat.

Round 7

Braden then sees the shaman summoning another fistful of fire and shoots his crossbow at her. Despite several people being in the way (-4 for impaired vision - forget the real term for this), his crossbow sneaks through the combat and strikes the shaman just above where her you expect her heart to be. She grimaces in pain and then throws the ball of fire at Braden.

Attack-ranged touch@Braden: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 - 4 = 14 <-- -4 for prone
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

This time her aim is true and the ball of fire hits the prone wizard.

The final two goblins, desperately cornered and assuredly doomed, continue to fight for their lives while swinging their tiny swords about.

Goblin@Glorfin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Goblin@Glorfin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Party up. Let me know if I missed anything.

Chaos, I do not mean to be difficult in any way, but is it possible for you to update and repost a battlemat? I am not clear who is still alive and/or where I need to move to actually get in a flanking position. Also, is the grease spell still in effect?

Tybek will still keep on trying to take down the goblin at his side.
