oops, didn't realize this was round 7 already
Round 7
Teran the great steps before the monk. His mind fills with stories he had heard of these strange bare hand fighters. Of fists that can paralize a grown man with a single blow. Is muscles stiffen in anticipiation.
If the hellknights lamp has not gone out Castor will slip into the muck, swim to the lantern's space and pull it into the liquid with him.
Castor notes. Swim speed 15 stealth +18

Attack 2: d20 - 1 for d6 + 3
Toc Am I missing something or are you not adding your STR bonus to your to hit roll?

As Merazar retreats to the nook Tok plays xylophone on the mans ribs with fists of fury his jokes and insults cut short in a cough of blood. He barely raises his arm to wave the dwarf away with his sword before Merax beheads him in a single blow from his axe.
Castor carefully and fearfully drags the lantern into the muck causing everything to be thrown again into darkness.
Sensing his companions imminent demise the remaining hellknight draws his sword and readies himself to enter the fray.

Castor carefully and fearfully drags the lantern into the muck causing everything to be thrown again into darkness. He barely raises his arm to wave the dwarf away with his sword before Merax beheads him in a single blow from his axe.
Merax beheaded Castor! Well there goes 500 gold. ;7)
Oh and it is not all in darkness there are dancing lights in e-4. They provide normal illumination out to the end of the hellknight's passage and dim light for pretty much the rest of the map. Tok and Merax should hit with no problems but the hell knight has a 20% miss chance as the good guys have concealment due to the dim light.
Round 8
"That is much better, now I cannot see."
With the loss of the lantern the passage is lit only by the strange whirling lights behind the arminger. The light seems to draw the color out of what it illuminates. The hellknight looks at his hand as he draws his sword and is shocked to see it pale and cadaverous.
Evil eye on final poor b@%$*^! dc 14 -2saves.

Ack! Well once I stop laughing my ass off I'll clarify.
Tok Goldfist
Wasting no movement or time, Tok unleashes a flurry of blows on the advancing Hellknight.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Attack 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Pollux, I thought that I only add my strength bonus to the damage roll and my BAB to my to hit for flurries. But now that I'm re-reading the rules, it says under unarmed strike that I add "his full Strength bonus on damage rolls for all his unarmed strikes." So, even if it's a flurry, I should probably add my Strength. Thanks for the heads up!
TarkXT
The hellknight eats Tok's fist to the face as he dodges Merax's axe.
The hellknight retaliates at Tok cutting a deep wound across his chest 5damage
No change to the map so jsut swing away at this sucker!
Janiven turns quickly to Sclivian. "It's a thought but the entrances are sealed and locked. by the time we broke through we'd attract the guards...or worse."
Pollux
Hey Tark was I right about the miss chances for the hellknights? And do I know if the last knight made his save last round?
"Odd this one seems the same as the others."
The last knight reveling in successfully blooding the monk becomes fascinated by the blood on his own blade.

"Down here though we don't lead them to the hideout by accident." She gives a brief look to Morisono's hiding spot with a small frown.
The last hellknight continues his desperate advance attempting to finihs Tok but failing admirably as Pollux's curse settles on him. Merax's axe again goes wide.

After they loot the bodies, I'm going to roll them over into the murky sewage as we are starting to leave a trail of bodies behind
Merax slowly rolls each Hellknight into the sewage after they are looted. With each body rolled he mutters something to himself in another language.
Pollux
The lights slide through the air like reef fish.
They come to rest around the bodies to help illuminate the search area.
"No I don't think they will want the lantern."
"Yes you can come back for it later."
"No I don't think any of the nice men under the water have any cheese."
"I'm not sure. Maybe we should ask the Tik-man if he could make a bird out of your blood."
"No, I don't know why Mr. Zoon is singing to the dead people. Maybe he needs the practice?"
"You ask too many questions. It is time to walk now"
Sclivian Ruttle
|
Sclivian helps Morisono out of his hiding spot, giving it a quick look-over before continuing. "Well, we certainly don't seem to be leading anyone to the hideout on purpose..." he mutters as he joins the group and continues to follow.
Meraxilar Zoon
Merax comes face to face with Castor.
"Does my singing bother you little one?
Did you know that in the dark, the color of your fur had me almost mistake you for a whetstone I lost recently? Not to worry though, I have yet to act on any sudden impulse to sharpen my axe. As to your query, little one, I sing to the dead to send a message to their patron."
Merax winks at Pollux and cracks a disturbing smile Castor's way.

Nice to see so many with knowledge:planes.
Levash finds three more potions of cure light wounds and about 4 gold among them before you move on.
You don't get far down the tunnel before you enter a room not dissimilar to the one where you encountered the first group of hellknights. As Janiven begins searching for the mark you are suddenly being loomed over suddenly by a malevolent shadow that glares down at the lot of you with a pair of red glowing eyes. As it speaks its stark white teeth can be clearly seen.
By the terms of my wretched contract I am required to suffer you one minute of life to escape my presence before I render your bones into paste and feed you to the ooze bugs. You may entertain me with your screams for mercy now.
Janiven seems visibly unnerved by the demons presence but says nothing as she quickly searches for the mark. Morisono, along with Castor, shake and studder in stark raving terrros as they add teir own yellow contributions to the liquid stench of the sewer.
Meraxilar Zoon
In abyssal to the shadow demon even if it doesn't understand the language
"By the Unmaker, why is such a magnificent entity such as yourself reduced to patrolling the sewer. Think of the mayhem you could cause above for the diabolists."
Merax then moves to help Janiven look for the mark.

** spoiler omitted **
Sclivian Ruttle

Mr. Ruttle regards the demon. "Rather odd contract, I must admit. There to guard something, give people enough time to forget about something... Daring and shady, choosing a demon. What would be worth hiding down here? Janiven, is this a friend of yours?"

As Janiven uncovers the mark she rolls her eyes and replies with sarcasm and a small amount of fear. "Yes Mr. Ruttle we share tea and share anectdotes about the opera once a week. His name is tibble the dapper."
The creature tursn to Merax and says. "You've not the power to free me so do me the service of screaming pitifully while I prolong your suffering."
Before anyone can respond Janiven starts heading down the tunnel at speed motioning for you to follow.
Meraxilar Zoon
Before following Janiven, Merax turns to the Shadow Demon one last time (again in Abyssal).
"May the Tide of Fangs consume your bonds, There is a small chance that I may yet be able to help you escape temporarily provided your summoners were of a lawful nature."
I'll wait a few seconds for a response before I flee with the rest.
Sclivian Ruttle
|
Sclivian chuckles bemusedly at Janiven's answer as he runs after everyone else. "I was only thinking that someone with something like that sitting in the sewers must be hiding something. Then again, keeping a demon in the sewers to bother the passersby seems patently amusingly ridiculous."
TarkXT
BTW the demon's been speaking in common this whole time.
As you flee down the tunnel you hear the demon's chuckle chasing you into the darkness.
Fare thee well servant to the Rough Beast. Perhaps when next we meet I will take you as an honored concubine...
