Egil finally bloodies his axe, taking the head off the goblin at his feet.

"It is unlike these creatures to attack when they are outnumbered," he observes to Sabina, who he had previously fought with. "They did not count on finding me here, either," he says with no small measure of hubris.

He nods at the others he had not met. "Did one of your magic put them to sleep? That requires some skill, though I should also say it takes most of the fun out of it," he observes, looking around for more goblins.

With but a swing of the mighty axe, the final local goblin was split in twain.

While the chants of goblins and the sounds of battle raged on in the distance, it was clear that, for now at least, the fighting at the festival had stopped. They were surrounded now by the corpses of goblins, as well as a few unfortunate civilians. If nothing else, this would be a good moment to catch their breath.

There's one more fight after this, but for now, use this down time to prepare anything necessary.

Egil nods to the others as he wipes his axe on the goblin's filthy clothes.

"Well fought, all of you," he says. Looking at all the females around him, he says "Some of you might make fine shieldmaidens someday!" he adds.

Looking at Bogan, he says "We could likely make you into one, too!" he says with a hearty laugh.

The demi-human cackled when she saw her targets fall. A perfectly executed spell always brought a warm and fuzzy feeling to her heart... well, almost perfect. The tower shield fighter disposed of one of them and ended up caught in the burst, but remarkably he stood strong regardless. And worse, she heard some of her new 'allies' express disappointment... one of them was even laughing! The smirk on her face was quickly becoming a pout.

"Oh, forgive me." Trisha spoke up to everyone, taking on a sarcastic tone. "I wasn't aware pest control was considered part of the festivities."

Sabina sighed with relief as the last goblin fell; her heart was still racing, but she could begin to feel her usual calm demeanor re-asserting itself. Looking around the festival, she surveyed the carnage in search of survivors.

Egil is too preoccupied with a newcomer's insulting words to worry about what Sabina is saying...though he knows he doesn't understand it.

For a moment, he looks as if he might become upset, but the sounds of battle in the distance keep him focused.

"Your honeyed words must win you many friends!" he says in response.

After Anca recovers from her odd bit of laughter she quickly sobers up. She surveys the other combatants with a level gaze, "If you all are done joking around," She makes a listening sound but holding her cupped hand up to her ear, "It sounds to me like there are more of these menaces clogging the streets. Innocent lives might be at stake."

She quickly jogs over to pick up her tossed starknife then returns. "You all fought well, I'll give you that, but how about we save the friendly chit-chat for later and go run these goblins out of town?"

She waited to gauge everyone's interest, but you could tell by her demeanor that she wanted to be off to the next fight.

With Goblin John Lennin dead, Bogan wiped away the blood and placed his sword back into its scabbard. Since battle was still raging, he kept his shield ready for anything.

While the bard-barian's joke did get a small chuckle out of him, he was a bit more worried about Sabina since she was speaking in some crazy tongue he didn't understand.

As the six talked amongst themselves, trying to get a handle on what was going on, a series of noises came from the direction of Northgate; a loud scream, and a lot of barking. It was clear that the closest remnants of action lay in that direction.

Once everyone gets their last words in and indicates what they're doing(which I assume will be moving in the direction of Northgate), we'll start the final epic battle. If you wish to roll initiative on your turn when you're making your last words, I'd be much appreciative.

Trisha had to admit, the Ulfen man was easy on the eyes. Braver and stronger then most too, considering he came to rush at the goblins instead of the other way around. If he wasn't as condescending, she might've taken him up on his offer. Instead, she just waves a hand dismissively and says "Show me you're more then a bloody ax and a sliver tongue. Then, I'll consider it."

The fire-breather's words were almost as confusing as the tower shield users, but her distress was obvious. Stll, her distress came through loud and clear. "I can check for enchantments." Trisha volunteered. While walking over to this 'Sabina' woman, she tried focusing her thoughts and emotions to detect magical auras... before having her concentration shattered by a loud scream and more barking. Egil turns from the banter with the sharp-tongued woman at the sound of screaming from Northgate. He says one last thing to the assembled group.

"I have yet to introduce myself. You have the great pleasure of battling with Egil Forkbeard, champion of the north. I am fated for great deeds, which will only be eclipsed by the telling of the tale! Join me in saving this town, and afterward you shall each have the opportunity to buy me an ale!"

Brandishing his axe in one hand, he again blows his war-horn.

If we have time to buff before the battle, I'll use Inspired Rage just before combat (i.e. most of the time I use it I'll be blowing the war-horn instead of thinking up some oratory, though I will do that, too.).

"I am quite alright; it's not an enchantment, at least not in the traditional sense. The story is long, and this isn't the time or place, but when I get...excited, I begin speaking--"

Sabina paused here, as it occurred to her that no one here spoke Infernal, or even identified it as such.

As our heroes arrived at Northgate, the source of the noises was easy to find; a goblin atop a strange, hairless doglike creature was currently in the midst of fighting a much more normal looking dog.

Just as they arrived, the riding goblin got the upper hand, stabbing the dog through the middle of its back with his long, ramshackle looking halberd. He raised his now bloodied blade to the sky, and three somewhat shaken looking goblins emerged from the bushes, cheering in triumph.

Near them, hiding behind some barrels, was a noble looking man, who watched in horror as his dog perished on the goblin's blade. It didn't take much figuring to realize he was the next target.

Bogan panted as he ran through Sandpoint's streets. He cursed the fact he was wearing his heavier armor today. Still, its protection, along with that of his trusty shield, paid off. He was relieved that he was able to keep up with Anca and another woman that helped them with the earlier goblins, so he knew he wasn't a slowpoke.

By the time he arrived, he saw fresh goblin corpses at the feet of Egil and Sabina along with a goblin riding some sort of dog creature standing atop a dead dog, most likely slain by him. The goblin dog's ears folded and it's tail folded between his legs. It let out a sound that was somewhere between a dog's whimper and a rat's squeak.

"Eh? Something wrong, Squankers?" the commando asked his fearful looking mount.

He'll flee in his turn.

Content to see her trick come through once again, the mesmerist caught Anca, Ven, and Bogan rushing past the corner of her green eye and moved up closer. She was just in time to see a mounted goblin who spoke surprisingly good Common dodge a swing from the tower shield user, but for some reason become frightened. 'Spellwork,' she guessed internally. 'But which way will it go?'

Further down, she spotted Anca and a well-dressed man with some form of dagger cornering a lone goblin. 'She can take care of herself.' she assumed, keeping her attention on the mounted combatant.

It would be clear to anyone present that the fighting was winding down. The bodies of goblins, goblin dogs, regular dogs, and the occasional unlucky civilian lay scattered around the city. While occasionally the sound of battle could be heard off in the distance, it would stop as quickly as it started. Pretty soon, even those brief moments would cease.

The raid was over. The town was safe.

The noble blinked for a moment before blushing. "Oh, dear me, I beg your pardon, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Aldern Foxglove of Magnimar. Forgive my distraction, I just wasn't expecting such an attack, nor that my rescuer would be so... stunning."

Seeing the last thing downed and the battle across town made Bogan smile and cheer with a little song of his own.

"Goblins weak and Goblins small,
Goblins not touch us at all!
When their fighters took the field,

With the last of the goblins and the mangy mutt it rode finally dead and the sounds of battle dying down, Trisha let out a sigh of relief, put her whip back on her belt, and started putting her gloves back on her hands... and over her ears as the tower shield user attempted to sing. 'Savored Sting, protect me! It's like a cat being tortured to death!' she thought, gritting her teeth.

When she was sure it was over, she brought her hands down and replied "That depends on how you define winning...but we all did more then what was expected of us, if nothing else." With that, she turned and shouted toward Ven. "Care to introduce us to your new friend, Miss Ven?"

Anca heaved a sigh of relief as her divine might faded into the ether. After giving the freshly slain goblin commando a wide berth she rushes to retrieve her starknives. After securing them to her belt she lets out an unexpected guffaw at Bogan's impromptu song. With a smirk and a shake of her head she surveys the immediate area, taking in all the damage the goblin raid had caused.

After a few moments, she joins the others in questioning the lucky survivor. "Well met, Aldern. I am Anca Covanu of Nybor, in town for the festival like so many others. What a horrible time for an attack - I can only imagine the death toll. Thank Desna we were so lucky." She grasps her pendant in a quick prayer to Lady Luck. "Care to tell us what you saw? Aldern tore his gaze from Ven for a moment. "Well, I was also in town for the festival. Me and Peppers were taking a small... wait... Peppers!"

Without much of a further response, he dashed towards the bled out corpse of his dog, which lay not a few feet from the deceased goblin dog.

Aldern fell to his knees, placing a hand near the deceased canine. "No... I-I'm sorry... please... you're a good boy... get up... I-I didn't mean to let you get hurt..."

For whatever it was worth, the shock and grief seemed completely genuine.
