Reloading his crossbow, Neerwyn takes a position 30 ft or so from the stairs and aims his crossbow towards the stairs.

"Well, let's see what's next."

M Human

Realizing that Victor isn't going to pick up the other end, Vardyr sighs pulls the rope back and picks out a bottle of alchemical grease from his belt and coats the stairway quickly before running back behind the corner

stealth roll 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

The clamoring ahead slowly ceases... the air is at a standstill. It seems that everyone upstairs has stopped moving...

You hear a low chittering, then the clink clink clink of something being rolled down the stairs.

The detonation that blasts into the room has no effect as you all manage to tumble out of the way.

Perception DC 12:
You hear the sounds of armor clanking coming down the stairwell.

Neerwyn winced as his comrades managed to barely avoid being blasted to pieces.

"Oh I think they're angry... and scared!"

Then Neerwyn notices the rats are coming down the stairs. Hoping that they're feet aren't armored he hastens to the stairs and empties a bag of caltrops at the bottom of the stairs before heading back where he came from.

His ears ringing, Victor looks around the room and seeing his ally's miraculously untouched, moves back to his original position, readying his weapon in case they come down.

I see Bluff checks are NOT this group's specialty, and I'll permit the caltrops.

A single ratfolk had attempted to come down the stairs, and not noticing the caltrops walks straight into them. At the speed he was going, he injures his foot seriously and trips.

"Ul Yji qeom!" he shouts as he falls.

The clattering upstairs starts again!

With a snigger, Neerwyn holds his fire while waiting for more ratfolk to come down the stairs.

So surprised at the Doctors foolhardiness, Victor just stares after him for a moment mouth agape..
.
.
.
quickly shaking his head he yells out"Come On! There's evil to be vanquished!" and runs after the brave little gnome, taking care to step on the fresh ratfolk corpse instead of the caltrops.

Good form!

Charging up the stairs Ruby, you run into a ratfolk coming down the stairs. Just past the ratfolk, you spy a few others forming a defensive wall in the room of the tower. Squeaking in surprise the ratfolk seemed to not be ready for such an assault!

Quickly Neerwyn approaches the stairs again to follow Ruby and Victor. When he sees another ratfolk on the stair he fires his crossbow at him.

When he sees Victor stepping on the ratfolk Neerwyn grins before realizing the paladin did so to avoid stepping on the calltrops Neerwyn dropped there himself.

"Oh yes, don't forget about those caltrops!"

If after such a well done assault the ratfolk on the stairs still stands, Victor will try to skewer it with his pole-arm. If it has gone down he will attempt to move past his allies and engage the enemies at the top of the stairs.

The chittering upstairs continues but it seems no more ratfolk are attempting to come down the stairs.

Carefully listening to the chittering, Neerwyn wonders what the rafolk are up to. Not much probably.

Blood pumping as Ruby apparently mentions some kind of crossbreed rat swine demon, Neerwyn follows his companions with his crossbow reloaded, ready to shoot at the first foe in sight.

Softly he whispers "He'd better be joking or I signed up for the wrong job"

OOC:

Victor;s furious charge up the tower resulted in a surprise attack against the three last remaining ratfolk within the tower. The visible leader, obvious by his strange colorings and shinier equipment takes a vicious 12 damage blow. Ruby, following Victor nevertheless misses her target but Neerwym manages to catch the closest one in the face, also killing it.

The ratfolk left alive (a leader and a minion fight back. Both wield blades and use them to attempt to hack at you.

With a little enthousiasm Neerwyn sees his bolt strike one of the ratfolk in the face. While usually not much of a brawler himself he actually longs to take out his scimitar. Unfortunately he doesn't pay much attention to one of the other ratfolk who almost severes his left arm. Pain soaring through his shoulder, Neerwyn takes a step back and quickly utters an incantation and opens his beak as if screaming on top of his lungs but no sound seems to be heard. Except for the ratfolk close to him who's the target of Neerwyn's spell.

OOC:

Last GM post one week ago, I think we could be missing one GM

I wholeheartedly apologize, between my job and leaving for an unexpected LARPING trip, all 3 of my campaigns have missed out. Nevertheless, as it stands, with only 3 players I am wondering how to resolve this issue. I will put out a shout in recruitment for at least 1 more.

Fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
The ratfolk obviously is wounded by your scream and stands there, visibly affected.

Vardyr, your shot misses by barely an inch, while Victor, your weapon strikes true and flat and takes the leader square in the mouth dropping him unconscious. (Did you bribe the dice roller?)

As it stands, the other ratfolk are visibly worried and attempt to flee by the windows and rafters.

Any and all transactions between one 'Victor O'rzet' and the so called "dice roller" have been completely legal and of the highest ethical standards. Any claims to the contrary can be considered libelous and will punished to the highest extent of the law.

Neerwyn reloads his crossbow once he notices the ratfolk is under the effect of his spell. Closing one eye he aims for the ratfolk and lets a bolt fly loose. With satisfaction Neerwyn notices that the rest of the ratfolk scatter at the sight of his companions and him wreaking havoc on them.

OOC:

Attack with crossbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

At the range you find yourself, the bolt hits true and pierces into the ratfolk. Though not dead, the pain and the sight of his fallen leader is enough for him to pass out.

"Thanks for that Doctor. That ratfolk hurt me bad I'm afraid."
