Beckett of the Bleeding Rose |
PS May potentually have internet trouble tonight. Just a head up. It doens't seem that way any more, but still might happen with the snow and blizards. If so, please just have me Ready to heal (Channel), and keep in mind my Azata (and Mind Affects) and Defense (Boss Fight) Domain powers.
Jareth Grimald |
Round 2, Initiative 16
AC 16 (18 w/ shield), touch 11 , flat-footed 15(17 w/Shield)
HP - 12
Fort +3, Ref +1, Will +4
His blood still pumping from his last attack, Jareth notices the gap inbetween his allies and instinctivly runs up to fill it. With his weapon raised high for another strike against the remaining Troglodyte.
Attack Roll 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Bah! Quartes! Try and get to his flank! We can't let him escape this room!
Up Next: Quartes
Quartes |
Quartes nods as he slips around his companions. He directs his arcane energies into his weapon as he does, "charging" it in a sense, with energy from his own magical reserve. Once in place, he stabs at the beast in an amateur, if sometimes effective, fencer's pose - his feet wide and one leg leading.
Move to flank, spend 1 pt from arcane pool to imbue weapon, then...well, stab 'im!
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
GM Sean |
Filios just misses the small creature, and Jareth's attack is wide of his mark, but Beckett manages to overcome his nausea and slams his morningstar into the troglodyte. Quartes runs behind the creature before bringing his sword through its body, and it falls to the ground dying.
With this combat over, you take a moment to examine the room which is illuminated only by Beckett's light. Racks for weapons line the walls of this chamber; above the racks hang various shields, pieces of armor, weapons, and standards on display. Most of the racks are empty, but a few weapons remain in place. The horrible stench of the troglodytes lingers in the room as well, akin to the smell of rotten eggs mixed with the reek of an open sewer.
Aside from the door you came through, another door leads to the northeast, and a second (the one the troglodyte was heading to) leads to the east.
Noran Kekmore |
Noran searches the room as well, once his stomach calms.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 (darkvision)
"Well, it seems that door on the east wall would be the stairwell, so I believe we should clear the northern room before investigating it."
The dwarf carefully approaches the northeast door, and examines it.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 (darkvision)
Jareth Grimald |
Jareth first goes and retrieves his shield and straps it to his back.
"These trogs don't seem to be very capable."
After speaking Jareth draws his Great Axe.
Jareth nods in agreement with Noran. And proceeds towards the left side of the North door. Once in place, Jareth looks over at Filios and raises an eybrow questioningly towards the North door.
Perception (To hear anything beyond the door.) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Quartes |
Quartes waits just behind his two more combative fellows, his sword out and ready, and a spell on his lips. His light shines brightly, so that he and Beckett can see their enemies, but also to tamper with any darkvision that the trogldytes, or whatever may beyond the door, has.
Filios Philandril |
Jumping awake from his contemplations over his roiling innards, Filios raises his head with a smile. He checks the door for traps before Noran enters.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
After a brief inspection, he follows the Dwarf into the room.
GM Sean |
Sorry for the wait... couldn't access the forums for the past few hours!
Judging from the shelves lining the walls, this darkened room might once have been a storeroom, though its contents have long since succumbed to the passage of time. A crack in the northern wall has apparently let in some rainwater, which has collected in a large puddle on the floor.
The room is currently home to a dog-sized lizard. It has two horns on either side of its head and green scales that crackle with sparks of lightning. It's head darts towards the door as you open it, and it begins to head in your direction to investigate.

Filios Philandril |

Filios will wade in and attack the lizard.
Please move me to the top diagonal from the lizard - I cannot access Google Docs from work. :-(

Yeah, that's fine. You can pretty much start wherever you want (within reason :P) when combat starts... I'd rather do that than track everyone's exact locations during exploration. Though I guess there's not really much exploration when there's a combat in just about every room. If you can call them 'combat'... more like one-sided beat-downs.
Beckett of the Bleeding Rose |
Have been having trouble with this site all night. . .
Round 1, Init: 8(2)
HP: 8/8 - AC/T/FF: 16/12/14 - Fort +3, Ref +3, Will +6
On my turn, so you don't have to wait for me if I keep having trouble, I will either double move fairly close to the reptile (avoiding the water puddles) or attempt to heal if someone actually gets hurt.
Quartes |
Quartes charges into the room, veering towards the far door in the room in order to block the lizard's escape, should it decide that the two-foots assailing him wouldn't be tasty snacks. He stands ready, his sword out in front of him, for the beast to approach.
Move action to cut off retreat; ready action - stab - should the beastie draw within range.

Noran Kekmore |
Round 1 init 12
Noran steps forward for a clear line of sight, and takes aim with his flurry of arrows.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11, damage 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 MISS
Attack 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10, damage 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 MISS
Noran mutters a Dwarven curse under his breath.

The only notice Filios gets is a brief increase in intensity of the sparks of lightning on the lizard's skin before an electric arc flashes between the two with a sharp crack.
Reflex DC 12 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19; Nonlethal damage 1d8 ⇒ 7
Filios dodges out of the way, but can't avoid the shock entirely. (3 nonlethal damage to Filios!)
Beckett moves into the room, ready to provide any aid if needed.

Watching the lizard zap Filios, . . . "I've seen barwenchs slap harder than that. Just rub some dirt on it, an' you'll be fine", with a friendly chuckle.
Round 1, Init: 8(2)
HP: 8/8 - AC/T/FF: 16/12/14 - Fort +3, Ref +3, Will +6
If the beast hasn't been dropped by now, (and no one is in serious need of healing), I'll step up and attack.
Rose's Kiss: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
GM Sean |
Other than lizard droppings, the northern room is devoid of anything interesting.
Beckett holds his nose and finds a few silver pieces on the dead troglodytes as well as the small clubs and javelins they were carrying. Nothing worth very much.
Noran finds nothing out of the ordinary when examining the wooden door to the central area.
Noran Kekmore |
"What kind of Dwarf would be I be if wasn't interested in coin? But, other than gear we might find useful on this mission, probably for the best if we simply hold on to everything and share the spoils when we are safe home again."
Once everyone is positioned and ready, Noran opens the central door again, and then steps back, bow at the ready.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Filios Philandril |
Noran, don't want to slow ya down, friend, but let's allow me a crack at the doors before you open them. Just trying to be safe.
Filios smiles and follows the Dwarf into the room.
Perception:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Quartes |
Quartes follows behind, his blade at the ready and an easy grin still showing on his face. He gives the lizard corpse a disgusted look and tries to hurry past its growing stench before looking over Noran's shoulder (not a difficult thing) and towards the door before them.
Perception
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
GM Sean |
The door opens into a square room 15' to a side. As expected, a staircase leads both up and down in the middle of the room, the path downward blocked by the rubble below. The stone stairs spiral around a central column to the ceiling 15' above.
Examining the room reveals nothing further. For once, nothing is trying to kill you.
Jareth Grimald |
Jareth re-straps his shield to his left arm, and hoists his fist to his chest, allowing the shield to cover his neck down to his thighs. And draws his scimitar with a quick flourish with his right hand.
"We can deal with the spoils from these scum-suckers once were done here, I have no problem with that."
"Oh, and Filios, assuming you have no objections, may I?"
Jareth gestures at the door with his shield.
Beckett of the Bleeding Rose |
"I'm curious. What are these gillmen creatures doing this close to Absalom? Especially as someone told me this place was only very recently opened, right? We are, in theory, the first ones to even explore this place, so where are did these creatures come from?", as he slowly makes his way up the stairs.
Quartes |
Quartes, still down below with Beckett, shrugs. Well, who's to know how those beasts think, but I can only hope that they've acted on their own and found this to be a fine, if crumbling, roof over their heads. I'm not sure that it would fit their type though...do troglodytes want roofs? They're more the water dwelling type, right? I hope that doesn't mean that someone smarter or more powerful has brought them here for something. Guess there's only one way to find out..
He waits until the others make room on the stairs for he and Beckett to continue up to the third floor.
Filios Philandril |
Filios examines the door for traps.
