@Tanariel- They do look capable. 2 Humans, a half elf (female) and a large half orc. They seem to be going over a map at their table.
@Garl- you can try to bribe him or use diplomacy or even intimidate if you so desire.
@Thrand- you order and the serving girls look over at the barkeep since Garl still has Swift inside the inn so they have not passed your order yet.

Tanariel believes the female half elf may be a caster of some sort, witch one she may be is unclear at the moment. The half elf is dressed almost as an obeahist with a gnarly staff.
The bald human has many daggers on his body.
The long haired human has a longbow and quiver.
The half ork has a nasty large axe and large sword.
A few of them bare recent wounds patched up with red spotted cloth.

Level: 1
School: Evocation [Electricity]
Components: V, S, M (one arrow)
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level) or see text
Effect: Arrow of electricity
Duration: Instantaneous or 1 round (see text)
Save: None
Resistance: Yes
Caster Level: 1
Vs. SR: +1
Concentration Check: +4
Cast Defensively: +4 vs. DC 17
You create an arrow made of crackling electricity, which you may use for one of two effects.
Attack: You may throw the arrow up to Medium range or fire it from a bow up to the bow's maximum range. Either use is a ranged touch attack. The arrow deals electricity damage equal to 1d6 +1 point per level (maximum +5).
Beacon: You throw or fire the arrow straight up. When it reaches maximum range or a solid surface (such as the roof of a cave) it explodes in a peal of thunder and a forked bolt of electricity resembling Erastil's holy symbol, which lingers for 1 round. The thunder and lightning are as loud and bright as natural thunder and lightning, but do not harm nearby creatures.

"This looks like trouble." thinks Thrand.
"I'll take him outside." says Thrand, not really expecting the wolf to follow him. He stands up while fixing his shield to his arm and drawing his heavy mace saying, "Here, wolfy, wolfy, fetch the stick." Thrand walks around the table until he is standing next to Garl and Tanariel.

Rolfe eyes up the strangers as they approach, draining his ale with a speed that only the thirst of the open road can accomplish. "Trouble?"

One of the mercenaries, the dark haired one clad in black scale mail and wearing a dark, travel-stained cloak, approaches. He is careful to keep his hands away from the well-used pommels of the sword and dagger at his belt, but the look on his scarred face clearly shows a hostile intent as he thumps his fists down on the table. “I killed that thief in a fair fight, and the fiery dagger—” he indicates the dagger that is poking out of Tanariels gear—“is mine by right. Hand it over or face the wrath of the Company of the Black Banner.” His companions push back their chairs from their table and rise to watch the situation closely. They too keep their hands away from their weapons. The serving girls quickly make their way away from the possible fray.
Thrand Prymlea
Thrand says, "None of us wants violence, friend, but if it should come to bloodshed, let us do the innkeeper the courtesy of taking the fight outside. Now, you say that you slew the alleged thief in a fair fight. Was this one on one, or was it four against one? When was the dagger stolen? Did the thief rob you personally, or did the dagger's true owner send you to recover what was stolen?"

Victrix draws her knife and pointedly stabs it next to the sellsword's hand. "That's close enough, boy."
"If it took four o' yeh ta kill one man, yeh've got no chance in hell o' winnin' against five. We found it, yeh didn't. Keep pushin' it, and yeh're gonna 'ave a bad time." She nonchalantly says with a dangerous grin on her face. "Yeh want it? Let's go outside an' settle it."

The farmers get upset at their spilled drinks and Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 2 blame the nearby dwarf who they push into another farmer who happened to be running to help the academic who dropped his item. The noise of the initial blow is heard throughout the inn and other rough patrons in other parts of the inn come to see what is going on and get sucked into the now large bar fight.
Thrand attacks the only foe near him which happens to be the dark haired leader which hits him but not enough to drop him but does allow him a rethink his loyalty WILvs17: 1d20 + 1 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 1 + 5 = 26 and he is now free from the friendship Tanariel cast on him...
not quite sure who Rolfe is attacking as no one is near him on the map initially but will use his roll and Rolfe takes the sap out and strikes at the farmer who just walked through the door upon hearing the commotion, hitting him and also enraging him...

Your action was to attempt to charm 'the archer'. I assumed that an archer would be one of the evil party members farthest from us, for tactical reasons if nothing else. I did not realize that the evil party leader was an archer, especially since he is armed with 'sword and dagger'. Perhaps I missed a textual clue. My apologies.
Rolfe
Not really enjoying being botted like that when my intention to attack one of our aggressors is pretty clear. Could we have our enemies clearly labeled in future? I moved Rolfe adjacent to the closest and meanest looking npc, and as one of the first good PCs I've played in ages I'd like that taken to account when we resolve my actions at the very least. Not meaning to be snippy but given that the PBP format takes so long to resolve actions id rather we take a bit more care. especially another farmer! But seeing the way this encounter is going, no harm done.
In the ensuing chaos Rolfe will motion to the others and attempt to grapple the leader, trying to drag him away to question.

Garl sends an electric bolt towards the dark haired man which strikes him square in the chest while Swift bites him in the foot and drags him to the ground knocking him unconscious when his head hit the floor hard. The female runs over to the defeated half orc to check on him while the bald man prepares to deal a clubbing blow to Swift when a loud voice bellows out with the voice of authority "CEASE FIGHTING AT ONCE!" as a broad shouldered human male bursts into the inn armed with a sword in his hand and a shiny star pinned on his breast. You hear the local whisper the name Sheriff Blundee as they immediately stop their brawling and stand contrite. "Someone had better call this beast off before I cleave its skull." he warns clamly pointing to the wolf in the inn. "Now what in the name of Issus happened here? Who started this?" Only two noises can be heard, one is shrieking coming from the academic in the corner who dropped something in the beginning of the fight and the other is the female half elf who says pointing to your group "they killed him... they killed poor Vorik!", You look down to the body of the fallen half orc hit by Victrix and see blood across his chest...
Tanariel Lantherian
Actually good Sir, this group instigated this confrontation. The bald man here indicated that I had found a dagger of us that he had taken from a man that he murdered. We came upon him outside of town and we found this dagger. If you send someone to check you will find him buried up the road under rock. He attempted to take the dagger by force and since we still had questions about how and why he claimed the dagger, he took it upon himself, with his group to attack us. replies the elf. The wolf only came to the defense of our group when we were attacked.
GM Qwerty
The Sheriff puts his hand up to stop the female elf and then looks over at the barkeep "What did you see since you were not involved?"
"Well sheriff, these newcomers came in with the wolf and when I was telling the wee one to put the wolf outside, since you know we do not allow animals in here after what happenend with that old druids pet tiger and Ol' lady Mary's pet owl, bad day that was. Well we were a'arguing and then the other newcomers yonder came to talk to them about something, the dagger I suppose. so then the red haired one got mad and hit the half orc who was standing there, that is when all heck went loose and these new newcomers started hitting and zapping folks."
"Did you see these folk ever harmed or attacked?" the sheriff asks the barkeep and motions to your group.
"no sir, I don't reckon I saw anyone hit them. Just saw all of them hit someone else."
Looking back at the party he asks "Who hit the half orc and what did you hit him with?"
Thrand Prymlea
"My dear sir," says Thrand. "I give you my word as a knight that what this fair elven lady says is true. We came upon the body of a man on the highway. By his attire, we recognized him to be Horvik, the very man whom we had ridden here to meet. We buried his remains under a cairn - what are decent folk to do? - and tracked his killers as far as this inn. We had just sat down to wet our whistles and consider our next steps when this man," he points down at the unconscious evil party leader, "walked all the way across the room to confront us and demand the aforementioned dagger. He confessed to killing Horvik. I asked him to surrender so that I might bring him before your judgment or that of a magistrate, but he would have none of it. He tried to seize the dagger by force, at which point the brawl ensued. With the innkeeper's attention focused on the wolf, he may not be the best of witnesses either. We would be glad to stay as long as you like to answer any questions that you may have. Here is Horvik's pouch. I saved it to give to his family."
A six second response time is amazing. Kudos to the sheriff.

"Hold fast blind man." the sheriff says to Garl with a voice of authority recognized as not one to trifle with.
"Did anyone in this room lay a finger or weapon on any of these people over here?" he asks the crowd? Everyone responds with no.
"Did anyone else attack the dead half orc?" once again the people in the tavern say no.
"Did anyone else draw lethal weapons in a simple bar scuffle?" again the masses say no.
"Did anyone else use any sort of violent magik other then the blind man?" once again the crowd says no.
"Seems to me you all have some answering to do. Let me check out the dead man." he walks over and checks the dead half orc. He stands up and pronounces the man was killed with a sharp blade across the neck. "Seems to me you were the only ones who drew bladed weapons, you were the only ones who know about this dead body right now since i cant ask this guy until he wakes up. Doctor Phineus Krane Sir please tell me why you are crying and carrying on like a beaten child?" the sheriff says to the man who shrieked.
The academic in the corner stands up slowly and says "When the Suel hit the half orc with her axe he flew into a lamp which burst on the shroud in my arms....A lamp tipped over during the fight and ignited the shroud, reducing it to nothing more than ashes in seconds..." he manages to burst out almost in tears.
