Is there any other target I can reach?

Dr Agathis |

Whee! I stomped on a sleeping man! Such fun! Such moral courage!
That's actually better, because it turns out if I struggle attack an armed guy while unarmed, I get hit by an AoO. Yay.
EDIT: Whoooooa, this battle really is crit city. Also, next time we fight, I can maybe actually remember to catch things like zigzagoons in my hand net and then we kick them while they're tied up or something.

Dr Agathis |

Yeah... I looked through the weird part of the equipment list. There's still a lot I want, though.

Dr Agathis |

Yarek—did you ever pick an egg move?

Dr Agathis |

Nah, it's in character. These guys just shot my pokemon with a bow, and Agathis isn't super moralistic.

Dr Agathis |

Whoops, missed that. Okay. Shift to move, standard action to pick up a held item.

Dr Agathis |

Err... the point of egg moves is to learn moves that are both useful and things you wouldn't normally learn (for instance, I took a STAB move, because Yanma normally doesn't learn any until level 43)). The player's guide also suggests that this is a way to help starters stay unique and as good as the random rare stuff you find in the wild.
Charge and Electric Terrain, for instance, are both moves that aren't super broken but do give you additional combat advantages that should be useful throughout the game.

Yarek Ovitz |

Electric Terrain would work wonders with a lot of Mareep when I get a herd started and it would also benefit Tesla greatly. Though it would make the Sing strategy ineffective unfortunately.
Charge I can't effectively use yet, but it would be great once I get thundershock at level 8.
Faraday how would you feel about me taking electric terrain? We could both benefit from that, though we would need to discuss when to use it though.

Dr Agathis |

No worries, Maeve! Just post again when you're back, etc.

Dr Agathis |

It wasn't bad at all! Just surprisingly ping-pongy.

Dr Agathis |

Yarek—I do have a few nets I can use if fighting, so feel free to take the bow if you want it. Or maybe there's also other loot.

Dr Agathis |

Sweet! Odd was actually at 3 injuries. Also, I think this means that after tonight's training, our pokemon will level up?
And p1200 for each bandit means p900 for each PC. Does Yarek want the bullseye bow?
EDIT: Is Dex EXP a thing, or nah?
Second edit: This isn't really relevant to anything, but reading the pokedex... and holy cow, butterfree is amazing (although Serperior is an excellent runner up). I sort of want one now, though it doesn't fit my theme.

Maeve Agreste |

I was under the impression you all did your training for today in the morning.
If by Dex exp you mean the following, then yes. You wouldn't get exp just from seeing a Pokemon though.
Whenever a Trainer catches, hatches, or
evolves a Pokémon species they did not previously own,
they gain +1 Experience.
Don't feel railroaded into a theme, you're welcome to enjoy whichever Pokemon you want. I would be surprised if you didn't come across some unexpected favorites in the course of your adventures.

Dr Agathis |

Well, my original theme was going to be "only use pokemon from fossils." But that's probably not too practical in the early game.
EDIT: Looks like Mareep has Zapper. Yarek, that means his Struggle attacks can be electric-type and use special attack, which might be more powerful than tackle in future fights.

Dr Agathis |

Oh yeah, so—can we start growing apricorns, or are they something we'd be waiting to grow until we have a better settlement (and would procure from the trade post in the meanwhile)?
Also, will we be able to put in "requests" with Oleg for acquiring additional items at some point in the future? (Tomes from the next playltest seem interesting, but also just things like weapons and armor to spend our cash on)

Maeve Agreste |

You could start a small apricorn plot right outside of Oleg's if you wish.
Right now, Oleg needs to replenish his stock, which will take about a week. After that, he'll have p5000 worth of flexible stock to sell for that following week. Each week, the worth of his stock will replenish and increase until it reaches a certain limit. If there is a specific item that you want that is worth more than what he has, he can special order it to arrive in a week.

Dr Agathis |

Cool. Let's get planting!

Dr Agathis |

On that note, @GM: Does Oleg have any balls for sale? I didn't actually start with any, and now it seems worthwhile to buy a few with our new cash.

Sonia Steinhardt |

I didn't start with any balls either. A simple and a light shield adds up to exactly as much money as we started with, so that's literally all I have.

Dr Agathis |

Sweet! I'll buy 3, then, if that's an option.

Dr Agathis |

Nothing left to do, although the day's training should put us up to pokemon level 6.

Dr Agathis |

Hey! Just checking in. How are things going>?
