She pulls a random book off the shelves and examines it. Undoubtedly she finds it boring and puts it back after a few moments.


“They’d better be right, or they’ve handed victory to the Aspis.”

Dr Bestah paces the library muttering angrily to himself while the party searches.

He shuts his hole abruptly when Lathlo and Petrok notice faint scuff marks around the base of the lectern that once held the Mutani Manual.

Chak can determine that the flat steel door appears to be both mundanely locked and magically trapped.

The magical glyphs emit a moderate Evocation aura rigged to activate when the seal around the frame is broken by opening the door.

What remains to decide is whether or not this is an elaborate ruse to make you waste time. Or the perfect hiding place, since it's just hidden enough to be not too obvious.

Bestah frowns. “Could that Po woman really have been telling the truth about the library?”

Not sure if anyone else has trapfinding that could aid Chak.

Assuming he's not blown up but the trap is still there, he'll read his scroll of heroism and then try to take 10 again for a 31.

If that's still not enough he'll have to roll for it.

Petrok aids Chak Yuen as he is able, and cast detect magic Be careful with that seal it's magic may be set to explode. Petrok states flatly. spellcraft to determine what spell on seal: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 1 = 12

Petrok cast guidance and resistance on himself again while Chak Yuen is working on the trapped seal


Petrok believes the spell that will be unleashed is Aram Zey’s Pants.

Developed by the ex-Master of Spells to embarrass people who irritated him (basically everyone). The caster causes the target’s pants to fall down to his ankles. Belts or suspenders offering no protection.

Chak’s first attempt nearly actuates the trap’s spell-trigger!

The tengu recognizes the cleverly concealed redundant system after the fact, but coolly attempts to disarm it again.

The trap defies Chak’s endeavors for a second time, before the slayer resorts to all the tricks he knows (and a little luck) before finally declaring the small steel door safe and ready to unlock.

Dr Bestah wipes his brow with Lathlo's woollen knit-cap in the doorway. “If the tome is really in there, you will need me to check it’s not a fake.”

It seems a safer place to be than near her party members that are potentially going to blow up the library.

Petrok waits for Chak Yuen's work to be done. When the Tengu finally acknowledges that he thinks he's disarmed the trap. Petrok nods with satisfaction. He stays close to the Tengu acknowledging the danger he's in if the Tengu was wrong about disarming the trap. But, he feels it important to share the danger with his companions so he stays near. Well let's open it up see what's inside, shall we? Petrok request of the Tengu while leaning over his shoulder in anticipation. They both scan the Pathfinders visible in the library, before the mirrored woman wearing a bronze badge points eight wands at Chak. “The tengu’s got it.”

As he moves into the room, Lathlo pulls out his wand of Long Arm, then attempts to leap up on top of the middle bookcase.

Petrok figures no time better than the present for his bigger spells so he cast fireball at the group in front of him. Latho I can center the fireball a bit outside the door to not catch you but, I'm pretty sure the blue thug will get a +4 cover bonus(to his saves) if I do (maybe even the red?). I'll let you decide (didn't check if you have evasion or not; so your call) Petrok drops his wand and cast Fireball Fire in the hole! Petrok sceams, he then draws his Falchion. fireball dmg: 6d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 3, 5, 5, 4) = 25 DC:16 for 1/2 dmg


Petrok, looks like you have line of sight to a centre-point that would would engulf the Aspis, but spare Lathlo.

Petrok sees no better time to launch a fireball at the enemy. The Pathfinder shaman then draws his falchion.

The blast of cold washes over Petrok but he manages to avoid the worst of it. I've felt nearly as much bite standing the edge of glaciers, in the Tusk Mountains. What part of the blast that did catch him, was adsorbed mostly by the spirits of his elders. (false life 10hp absorbed) Petrok hurriedly pursues his adversaries out in to the greenhouse (speed 40') and calls down lightning on the spellcaster who just tried to freeze them to death. call lighting dmg: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 4) = 12 (reflex for 1/2 DC:16) Well you brought the thunder woman, I'll reply in kind with lighting! Petrok growls as he calls down a bolt from heaven to fry the woman and all her mirror images.

Only armed with a wand, Livilla curses the missed opportunity to strike at Chak. In return the General misses her body and body images altogether.

The surviving Aspis caster falls back 5’ and ✨casts. Five bolts of force unerringly find their way into Gajutai’s torso.
