Amaranti steps forward, readying his lance for a strike.
"Yield!" he commands the wounded thug leader.
Ready action: attack if Belal tries something offensive or flees

GM Beman |

As Lucian continues to poke his opponent full of holes, Jorus sends the second thug to the ground. "Patyr is down, boss!" the second thug yells as Gaius sends a bolt of force to his midsection rendering him unconscious as well. As soon as the words reach his hears Belal attempts to flee.
Changed Gaius's target since his original target was down.

Ready action triggered
As Belal turns to flee, Amaranti takes that as he is not going to surrender.
Lance: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 221d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
The Garundi tries to hit gently, but underestimates the power of his thrust.

Belal won't be bothering Nasir, or anyone else, ever again. For that, Nasir is thankful. "What a racket this guy was running." Nasir proclaims nervously. "He bleeds us so dry for protection money that we can barely put food on our tables. Well, he's the one bleeding now, eh? If you don't mind, you know, pointing that thing away from me I'll get you just what you're looking for."
Nasir gingerly makes his way to the counter and produces a locked box. He removes one of the many keys from a string around his neck and opens the box, handing Armaranti a cloth bag and holding it open to reveal a statue of a small copper cat. "No idea what it does...but I was told to keep it in this sack at all times."
"There...anything else you gentleman need? I really should, ah, clean up this mess and get back to work." It is clear that Nasir wants to be rid of you, but also doesn't want to offend. Whether or not he intends to call the authorities to report Belal's untimely death is unclear.

"I feel as much also. Perhaps Jorus should keep the statue we have recovered? He is fast and no sneak thief or pick-pocket of this city shall get the better of him if I am any judge."

![]() |

"Torch-man warns us not use magic with statue. Jorus not use magic, right? So he should keep statue." Amaranti ponders looking at the statue, and keeping it at arm's length.

![]() |

"And sorry about him, did not mean to kill. Got excited", Amaranti apologizes to the shopkeeper, pointing at the bloody corpse of Belal.

GM Beman |

"I'll have some explaining to do...but I'll not shed a tear for that brute. Good day to you sirs...and thanks again."
---------
After wandering around the Overmarket looking for a Vudrani covered with little bells, the you practically run right into him. What Torch said was true—he is unmistakable. Sitting on the rim of a fountain, the man appears to be contemplating the contents of a small intricately carved wooden box. The many pouches of his flowing, bell-covered robes bulge with various small items, and wands and rods stick out from odd folds. Under his arm he casually carries an item wrapped in shipping linens but by its shape it is almost surely a statue.

Amaranti shrugs.
"Steal it. Ask for it. Buy it. Fight for it", he whispers back. "Don't know. But no magic. He got statue"
A plan is forming in Amaranti's head. But as the Garundi's plans are rather straight-forward, he holds the thought, and looks at the others for suggestions.

Sorry missed a few comments back there so answering back when you were offering me to hold the statue.
"My eyes are indeed keen my friend, I'll hold on to the statue. My abilities are all natural no magic here, unless you mean my award winning smile!" He gives a goofy grin and motions to move on with the group.
Now current time
Jorus studies the next target to see if there any other dangers hidden around the Vurdani. "I don't like this fellas, it seems like a trap to me. I'll Hide in the crowd so we have ambush ready for them and I picked up a few suprises in that last town."

Gaius approaches the man.
"Hello kind sir. I represent an individual of no small amount of power and wealth. They're in the market for certain magical artifacts. The rare kind that might fetch an handsome price to the right people. Wouldn't happen to know anything about that sort of thing would you?" Gaius says in what he believes is a rather confident and winning tone.

Always on your toes, I like it! Cover us while we speak with him. Lucian says, motioning the others to follow him as he approaches the man at the fountain.

Will: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Startled by the sudden flash of colors, the man jumps backwards. "Gah...take it you thieves!" he exclaims before chanting and moving his fingers in intricate arcane patterns. His form loses substance and turns to a wispy cloud, but as it does, the bundle under his arm begins to vibrate, crackle, and grow. His eyes widen as his body resolidifies and the statue bursts out of its wrappings, seemingly absorbing the arcane energy from Viraj’s failed spell. Linen, strings, and little bells skitter across the pavingstones. On the ground now, the statue continues to grow, taking on the form of writhing, giant centipedes.
The party and Viraj may act in the surprise round while the centipedes materialize.

"No magic!!!", Amaranti shouts, trying to prevent the inevitable. But he was too late... He looks in disgust as he critters are taking form. Lacking understanding of the things happening around him, he resorts to brute force.

"Jorus, grab up the other statue. I seem to have underestimated it's affinity for magic. I won't chance any more spells until it's far away."

"Aye Aye my Caster." He gives Gaius a mocking salute and a smirk while he picks up the statue. He studies it looking for any obvious traps, magical or otherwise.

"Put it in a bag, to be safe", Amaranti says, obviously wary of the statue. Then he grabs his lance in one hand, and starts making swooping motions with it in a large arc around him.
"Watch out for Viraj, he may want statue back"

"Not again", Amaranti sighs as he changes his pace from walking to full running. "After him!!!
