Just as some of you catch sight of the lurking figure, he springs into action. Leatherhead attempts to scare the man, but though he is shaken up by the Croc's intimidating glare, he does not flee. He flings a stone at Lyan, which strikes his armor with deafening BANG! Lyan's ears ring with high-pitched tone and he realizes he can hear nothing else! Lyan is deaf for 1 hour!
A beat after, another lurking fellow rears up from the weeds and lobs another stone toward the gathered group further up the trail. Again, a resounding report catches the majority of the group and many are left reeling from the sonic assault. Leatherhead and Jacques are uneffected. Fingalad, Kel and Kharam are deaf for 1 hour! A deafened character cannot hear. He takes a –4 penalty on initiative checks, automatically fails Perception checks based on sound, takes a –4 penalty on opposed Perception checks, and has a 20% chance of spell failure when casting spells with verbal components. Characters who remain deafened for a long time grow accustomed to these drawbacks and can overcome some of them.

The man across the stream slogs through the marshy reeds and grabs onto his fellow and tries to help him throw off the clinching Croc, but his hands are slippery with moisture and he fails to be of any help. The grappled man wriggles feebly to try and break loose from Leatherhead's grip, failing miserably.
Then suddenly a third figure breaks cover from the east and lopes toward Lyan's exposed rear. The burly man raises an intimidating looking blunt mace an brings it down hard on the back of Lyan's head. Lyan takes 25 non-lethal damage!

Jacques moves in to attack, but only hits air. Leatherhead applies pressure to his grappled foe and is rewarded with the sounds of cracking bones and the man's pained whimper. Lyan returns attack and gets in a solid blow on the bludgeoning bandit.
One of the bandits gives up on trying to free his fellow and joins the fray, nimbly moving along the pond's bank to flank Lyan. He swings a mace, but Lyan dodges the blow easily. The grappled bandit struggles uselessly, still unable to free himself. But the bludgeoner redoubles his efforts against the inquisitor. He swings his heavy mace, Lyan's armor barely rebuffing the blow, and then he lands a hit with his light mace, knocking him out cold. Lyan crumples to the ground. The burly man takes serious damage from Fingalad's sniping and as the wolverine begins ravaging his calf, he takes a good look around him. The large Crocodilian form releasing the now limp and broken body of his comrade to slide bonelessly to the ground decides him. "Gods! You've killed him." The man at the fire flings something at the approaching Inquisitor, it strikes him and bursts, coating Lyan in a sticky, tar-like substance. Once exposed to air, the sticky resin quickly begins to harden, adhering him to the spot. Lyan is entangled and glued to the ground, unable to move.
A tanglefoot bag is a small sack filled with tar, resin, and other sticky substances. When you throw a tanglefoot bag at a creature (as a ranged touch attack with a range increment of 10 feet), the bag comes apart and goo bursts out, entangling the target and then becoming tough and resilient upon exposure to air. An entangled creature takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls and a –4 penalty to Dexterity and must make a DC 15 Reflex save or be glued to the floor, unable to move. Even on a successful save, it can move only at half speed. Huge or larger creatures are unaffected by a tanglefoot bag. A flying creature is not stuck to the floor, but it must make a DC 15 Reflex save or be unable to fly (assuming it uses its wings to fly) and fall to the ground. A tanglefoot bag does not function underwater.
A creature that is glued to the floor (or unable to fly) can break free by making a DC 17 Strength check or by dealing 15 points of damage to the goo with a slashing weapon. A creature trying to scrape goo off itself, or another creature assisting, does not need to make an attack roll; hitting the goo is automatic, after which the creature that hit makes a damage roll to see how much of the goo was scraped off. Once free, the creature can move (including flying) at half speed. If the entangled creature attempts to cast a spell, it must make concentration check with a DC of 15 + the spell's level or be unable to cast the spell. The goo becomes brittle and fragile after 2d4 rounds, cracking apart and losing its effectiveness. An application of universal solvent to a stuck creature dissolves the alchemical goo immediately.
Milythandyr and Fingalad are up! Note that the enemy in Red is only noticed by Milythandyr and Lyan.
