There are 4 members of the Scorpion School sitting at a table across the way, joking and laughing while ordering Dumplings and Tea. Jaing Fei looks smug, as the dumplings here look about the same as the dumplings at her stall, but are made with less love and taste bland.
What did you have in mind?
Boolar Rejic
|
Actually gender won't matter.
Boolar will walk up to one of them. "Excuse me. Is it true that scorpions kill their mates afterwords? Because I've been watching you and if you've got 30 minutes..." Boolar stops for a moment, looks them up and down and says in a low tone that they can still easily hear "Let's be realistic here." "5 minutes I'd be willing to risk it."
Kita Kyuichi
|
Kita starts to laugh loudly, as he steps up behind Boolar, then stops briefly as Boolar's words become clear to him.
He gives Boolar an odd look before continuing to laugh (not quite as convincingly this time).
Mythryndyr
|
Myth walks up beside Boolar, pats him on the back and says, "Leave these fine folk alone, my friend; they can't possibly answer your question. The taste of these dumplings and tea would incur impotence to anyone's mating drive, man or woman. Excuse our interruption."
Myth bows and turns as if to leave...
Abolt Greenseed
|
Abolt has found a seat near by and is chuckling to himself at the antics of his friends, little legs swaying above the floor.
And to think halfings get the bad rap for foolishness. This is great.
Skaf
|
Skaf stays quiet but uses his aerokinesis to knock over the Scorpions' drinks and blow their dumplings and utensils around.
| GM Chie |
Jumping up instantly, the woman at the corner of the table glares at Boolar. "You choose to INSULT the Scorpion Style, in our own teahouse? That’s it! We will Show you just how powerful Scorpion Style is!” Downing the rest of the tea from her Teacup, she throws the empty cup against the wall by Jaing Fei. The three other students follow suit, their bodies taking on a light glow.

The first kick from Skaf buckles the scorpion school student at the knee, before the Myth's solid blow kicks him over the table, smashing teacups and buckling the cheaply constructed table.
Blue Fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 In a surprising show of strength, Boolar's strike shoves back the Blue opponent over the now buckled and broken table. Take THAT 7 strength!
As Kita moves past the students, the first one shouts "STUNNING SCORPION STRIKE!", throwing a punch to Kita's exposed ribs. STUNNING SCORPION STRIKE: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 Deflected by Kita's mountain plate armor, the powerful kidney blow misses, before Kita's side kick squarely launches the Scorpion School student into an oncoming waitress Teacups and Dumplings fly in a delightful shower over the other students. Outraged, the waitress shoves the unconscious student him back toward the scorpion school table, Now covered with students.
Kipping up from the table, the blue scorpion student steps back toward Boolar, shouting "ONE THOUSAND SCORPION STINGS!" before throwing a flurry of strikes. You probably put up Mage Armor before walking into a Fist Fight, right?

Unarmed Strike Attack (Flank): 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 2 = 7

I am not sure why the opponent got an AoO, since they were flat-footed at the time. I can't imagine that they have Uncanny Dodge. It is irrelevant now, since he missed anyways.
@Myth, you didn't roll to confirm that Threat
It looks like I can get around behind Yellow without provoking (W->NW->NE).

Manager is on Vacation this week, and I am trying to get everything ready for Next week when I am on Stay-cation!
Also, they absolutely have Combat Reflexes. Practically everyone is itching for a fight in Quain!
With a swift kick in the gut from Myth, the startled student exhales swiftly, almost losing his lunch on the floor in front of him, before collapsing in a heap. The last kick from Kita is enough to take the last student out. The waitstaff cheer, providing you tea and Dumplings like the heroes you are. Jiang Fei leaps up from the table Practically glowing with pride. "That is the might of the Jade Ogre style in action! I am Jaing Fei, teacher of the Jade Ogre style! I am currently accepting additional students!"
Several toughs crowd around Jiang Fei, eager to learn about her fighting style. She barely has enough time to shout "I'll meet you back at the School in an hour!" before being overwhelmed with investors and prospective students.
The wait staff are happy to provide you with a plate of 4 dumplings before leaving, that seem to glow with loving care that the other dumplings did not have.
The filling must have been made with Cure Light Wounds potions!
About an hour after leaving, Jiang Fei returns with a glowing pride. Removing the jade comb from her hair, she presents it to Boolar. "Right Here is an image of the Summer Palace, right near Ogre Mountain. It is where I got the idea for the name of my school! and thanks to your efforts, I will be able to teach Many More students this fantastic style! I can't give you my hair comb, but I have made a rubbing of the artistic relief that you can take with you. Thank you so very much for your assistance!" Pulling the rubbing out of her pocket, before replacing the comb in her hair, Jiang Fei happily heads back into the dumpling shop Dojo to begin planning classes.

I did not realize that Combat Reflexes allowed you to make AoOs while flat-footed. Somehow, I never read that sentence. Thank you for the education :)
"So, we have a rough location, we have a map, and we have some obscure information about the Year of the Dog.
Let us return to Mai Chung and see if we can make sense of all of this information."
Mythryndyr
|
Myth bows to Jiang Fei. "Thank you for the image...and your instruction...can't say I'm ready to give up my bow, but that was most enlightening...and fun. Fare thee well!"
He turns to his companions. "Yes, let's return to Mai Chung and see what she makes of this..."

Oh Man! That's half the reason that I take it!
"That sounds like a fantastic plan! Let's see what Mai can make out of all of this!"
One last familiar walk in the clouds takes you back to where this all began. A small schoolhouse in the village of Ashima.
| GM Chie |
Mai Chun bursts through the door, grinning ear to ear. "Welcome back! Please, come in! There are no classes today, as half of the students are home sick. All it takes in one to not pay attention when learning about herbs, and replace a light stimulant in the tea with a... well..." Mai Chun begins to laugh softly, before shaking her head. "It is a good thing that a Teacher is mindful of pranks, otherwise I might not have smelled the licorice root before drinking the tea."
Inside, piles of open books and scattered parchment cover a wide table. Sketches and notes fill the workspace, with a copy of the delicate map on the very bottom. "Hmmm. The zodiac symbol of the dog is in the Lower right of this map... and this Mountainous region covered in this silk matches very closely to older drawings of the Gossamer Mountains..." While leafing through books and tracing lines along a duplicate of the incredibly delicate map, Mai Chun finally looks over the rubbing of the Jade Comb. "This must be the place! Let's see what the history books have to say about this region."
Pulling a large oversized tome from underneath a messy pile of scrolls, Mai Chun flips through, before stopping and reading from the book. "This is a chronicle of the Empire’s final days. I’ll be putting out a second edition when we’re through! Anyway, see here." She points to a page featuring a gold-and-gemstone statue of a sovereign dragon coiled around a jade scroll case. "This scroll case is believed to contain the 29 final prophecies of the last emperor of Lung Wa. Only a true heir of Lung Wa can interpret them; if this interpretation can be made here in Shokuro, it ensures our nation a high political position among the Successor States. It was last owned by a princess of Lung Wa named Song Rui, but it has never been found. I believe it may be in the princess’s quarters at the Summer Palace. When you find the lost palace, seek out the princess’s chambers and find this scroll case. Even if we can’t interpret the prophecies, it still provides an excellent symbol of the lost empire. Having worked in politics, let me tell you: Symbolism is everything!"
Yidric Belove

Hrm, she's really into this stuff...
"We will look for this scroll case then. Hopefully it has not been lost to the ages."
Mythryndyr
|
Myth grins at Skaf. "Think you have the wrong season, my friend...
Let's get moving then. Shall we be traveling by cloud again?"
Chie Fujioka
|
"I an try to get us close, but I think we should probably take a slower route once we get to the Gossamer mountains. I imagine if the Palace has remained hidden for this long, we might overlook it if we are going too fast!"
Taking the small noted copy, Chie bows to Mai Chun and smiles "I will make sure we have good notes of the exact location of the Summer Palace, so it can be further explored when we have a chance!"
When everyone is ready, Chie once again taps each of you. The tall Gossamer Mountains are in view before you know it!
The mountains themselves are beautiful, and harmless wildlife are abound. After a few days of searching, as well as cross checking the information with the map.

The Summer Palace silently presides over a secluded valley, majestic despite its obvious abandonment. Its terraces and sloping roofs form a multi-tiered affair that seems to grow from the surrounding mountains.

The path to the Summer Palace is otherwise uneventful, with a bit of natural beauty and singing songbirds.
As Myth approaches the Palace, the further state of its disrepair is apparent. The Courtyard itself is choked with vines, and fallen dirt and debris from a recent landslide. Several overgrown Cherry trees seem to hold back some of the disrepair, with very old markings on the trunk. The front doors of the palace appear to be solid, and open easily.
The main entrance has a long hallway, with a few doors on either side. Oddly angled rooms adjacent to the hallways give the implications of rays of the Setting sun. To the left of the entrance hall, the room is dominated by a long banquet table with dozens of empty place settings. Dust and cobwebs cover the plates, showing the last time that a banquet was set here. Just inside the door is a set of lamellar armor in a heap, surrounding a pile of ash.
