Raffe Crymoff
Raffe attempts to hit the orc to Haikyu's right with a Ray of Frost.
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 151d3 ⇒ 2
Xin takes off and circles over Raffe's head in an attempt to defend him as he moves a few paces closer to the orc.

OK, enough waiting then. Haikyu goes into total defense. Raffe hits, but please note that you didn't include the in-melee attack penalty (-4).
Raffe's ray hits the armor of the orc. Although it does not penetrate, the sudden cold bites into the orc. He staggers a bit but maintains his form almost immediately. Haikyu then goes into a defensive stance as the orcs attack.
Battleaxe Attk vs Haikyu (AC 22): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Battleaxe Attk vs Haikyu (AC 22): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Battleaxe Dmg: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Battleaxe Attk vs Fariza: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Despite his spectacular parry against the first orc, the second one manages to overwhelm Haikyu's defense with raw power, cutting him down. Haikyu is knocked unconscious and you see a puddle of blood growing ever so slowly.
Round 2: Fariza, Issac, Hound
Issac Insolitus
Isaac assumes total defense (since he can't cast).
The Eagle declares a smite on the previously wounded orc next to Haikyu and charges.
Beak: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 +1 if evil
GM DFang

As the eagle dives and bites out a deep wound on the orc's thick neck, it collapses in a heap of flesh and spurting blood. In the meantime, Fariza tries to bring down the orc in front of her with its claws.
Claw 1 Attk: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Claw 1 Dmg: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
The first attack already knocks the orc down, bleeding from the deep wound across its chest. Fariza automatically allowed her momentum to carry her second attack towards the hound in response.
Claw 2 Attk vs Hound: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Claw 2 Dmg vs Hound: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Who staggers and nearly falls to its side from the strength of the attack. It immediately begins to cower and turns around to run away with its tail between its legs.
Round 3:Haikyu* (CON save), Book*, Raffe*, Orc, Fariza, Issac
"Book Wyrm"
"NOOO! Haikyu" oh man, oh man. This is nuts! Olli takes a deep breath. O.k. I can do this. I may not be used to this kind of thing, but I CAN LEARN!
He rushes forward ,15 ft., and hurls his bowstaff at the orc hovering over Haikyu. Then, with his hands he guides it to him.
Hand of the apprentice to attack the orc. Atk with INT: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 131d6 ⇒ 1
The stick just bonks the orc on the noggin. He shakes his head a bit and looks right at Book Wyrm.
"I am really bad at this."
I don't know if that actually hits, but it could bonk his head without doing damage.

Haikyu continues to bleed (please update your HP info).
Issac throws the overgrown stick he was holding at the orc who completely ignored it and laughed, allowing it to bump weakly on its head as he dodges the glob thrown at him by Issac. It grumbles at the group before retreating.
"I will be back with the clan-meet and cook that chicken!"
Combat is over unless you want to give chase.
@Book: Yes you do hit.
The orcs are not yet dead.
See Tracking Sheet > Party Loot. I need some spellcraft, craft (alchemy), and appraise rolls please.
"Book Wyrm"
Book Wyrm runs over to Haikyu. Taking a knee he examines his wounds. "Oh gods. Does anyone know what to do?" He then stands up in a panic, then takes a deep breath. He then starts looking for anything that would help. Looking upon the dying orcs he sympathizes. But, he must aid Haikyu first.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Appraise: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Anyone who preforms a Heal check, Olli will rush to their side to aid another.
"Book Wyrm"
No, dead is -your con score. You are unconscious and bleeding to death. Your current status is 'dying.'
Raffe Crymoff
"Best run and don't come back!"
Raffe approaches the tengu bleeding out on the jungle floor.
"Hold still. I am not very skilled at this, but hopefully I can stop your bleeding."
Heal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Xin lands on his shoulder as he works with shreds of the bird-man's shirt.
Raffe nods, and sends empathetic words of thanks to him mentally.
There, you are stabilized.
GM DFang

Updated tracking sheet with identified goods.
@Haikyu: yup, Book is right and Raffe managed to stabilize you.
Book knows that these are Potions of Cure Light Wounds while Raffe identifies the gem as an emerald. Although still unconscious, Haikyu's bleeding has been successfully stopped by Raffe as well.
"Book Wyrm"
Book finds two vials amides the orcs. He pops the little cork off and inhales deeply; Mmmm, almonds. He then hustles over to Haikyu. "Good work Raffe. Lets see how he feels after this." Book administers one potion.
Should I role for it?
Raffe Crymoff
"Well, look who doesn't end up as dinner for the orcish horde here."
Raffe smiles as he says this, and nods gratefully to Book.
He places the emerald in his spell component pouch for the moment.
Those orcs could be back any moment, it is strange that they should abandon the hunt while they were winning. I should keep my eyes open.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Xin's Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Issac Insolitus
Oh thank goodness! I was worried you wouldn't, I mean, you know... Ok I'll stop talking now...
The bearded man's voice sounds shockingly immature as he babbles worriedly, as if he were a child some ten years younger than he is.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Haikyu
His eyes fluttering open, Haikyu looks around confused for a second before trying to stand. "Your plan did not work." he says simply to Book Wyrm, before adding "But it was worth a try.". Noticing the shortage of Orc bodies around, he cocks his head to the side. "Perhaps we should move on before they return."
Waving his hands over his body once he stands up, Haikyu mutters some words.
CureLightWounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
"Book Wyrm"
Hopefully we get to use my potion roll. But, I think it's your roll.
"Sorry, it came out to be such a blunder. This was my first real fight. I will know better for next time. The flock must stay strong, eh brother?
Book Wyrm stands up and looks around.
"I didn't really see all of what was going on, but good job over there. I am worried that the one that got away will go alert someone, or something. We should move from this place quickly."
He then turns his attention to the skies. Jack comes flying down, and the large black bird lands upon his shoulder; hunching Book over a bit. They, then, simultaneously look opposing ways.
Olli's Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Jack's Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

You were supposed to have a few minutes before this, but I'll speed up the gameplay since that might take days. :)
It's still faint, but Haikyu soon hears the sound of horns blowing from far away. He determines that it you have at least five minutes if these are from the orc clan chasing you.
Flocks of various birds fly above and a small herd of deer run around the clearing you now stand in. They all head south from your current position.
"Book Wyrm"
"Hmm... That's odd. Perhaps we should move south. Take note from the animals."
Book moves in a southerly direction at a snails pace. Waiting for a response from the others.
Issac Insolitus
I don't like that sound, we should get moving. Er, you, er, sir, he gestures at Haikyu. Can you move on your own?
The formalities sound quite forced, as if he is tremendously uncomfortable with speaking them aloud.
"Book Wyrm"
"Yeah... Lets get out of here. Or at least get out of the clearing so we can hide and asses them!"
GM DFang
|
Raffe doesn't see or hear anything unusual as the party follows the direction of the fleeing animals. The dense forest slow becomes thinner as you are chased towards the south by blaring horns which still seems to be drawing closer. The direction you run towards eventually starts to slope upwards gently, increasing the difficulty of your efforts to escape the hunt.
After what felt like hours of running...
If anyone wants to try something during this phase, feel free to post and I'll adjust the events if anything changes.
... the group reaches the end. You stop upon a cliff edge that goes on towards your left and right, curving backwards. Further below are more trees and a river snaking across the landscape to gods-knows-where. The birds above continue to fly forward but you don't see where the land animals have gone to.
GM DFang
|
The horns continue blaring from above the cliff continues but Haikyu is certain that it no longer follows you. You see some javelins thrown towards the jungle below, but they're so few in number that it could just have been some orcs venting rage.
Assumed single file order: Raffe, Issac, Book, Fariza, and Haikyu (rear guard)
Chance Encounter: 1d100 ⇒ 9 ouch...
The descent is slow but steady. You continue in peace for hours without incident until about halfway from the top of the 250 foot cliff-side. At first it was just minor vibrations, but suddenly the cliff-side shakes as rocks and boulders tumble down on you from above. Fortunately the cliff is sloped slightly inward, protecting you from larger boulders that came from the top. Small stones and dust spray on you as they fall closer, and closer...
Reflex saves or Acrobatic rolls please. You all take 2d6 damage.
1 = you fall. Roll a d100.
2-5 = you fall but catch yourself on the ledge with a hand if still conscious. If not, roll a d100 as well.
6-11 = prone
12-16 = Success & takes half damage
17 or higher = Same as 12-16 range and provides +2 circumstance bonus to the PCs next to you
EDIT: You don't auto-fail if your roll gives you a 1.
GM DFang

Book Reflex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 | 0.5*Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9 -> 4
Fariza Reflex Save: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19 | 0.5*Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2 -> 1
The tumbling rocks knock Raffe down on his knees when a rather large one hit his head and Issac felt so tired that he stumbles after the quakes have settled. Haikyu escaped the worst of it, but his wounded wing barely help. Fortunately, no one fell off the face of the cliff.
Your party can still move along, but half speed since Issac is staggered (leave the duration of travelling to me). If you want to do something before going forward, now is the time.
Raffe Crymoff
"Great... think we are all in trouble. <COUGH><CoooouUUUGH>."
So saying, Raffe closes his eyes and prays.
Lissala, watch over me. I know not where I am or who is near. But your faithful channel needs aid.
Raffe Crymoff
Raffe coughs and nods to Xin, preening his feathers with his hand.
Getting up slowly, Raffe turns to the others.
"Xin here found a cave with a rat-man camping at it. It is at least intelligent enough to use a cane, but I can't say that it will be friendly to us or not. Still, it isn't far from here and its the best chance for shelter we will get for a while. I vote that we head there and implore the creature for its aid. Anyone else have objections, other ideas, or - <coooough>."
The rest of his statement is cut off by coughing.
