Another matter, do we want to establish a non-paizo form of communication if the site goes down for long periods of time again? I understand fully if the answer is no, but wanted to throw it out there. Might also be handy if we ever do that joint game for you and your SO.

Hm.. though.. it would be her jurisdiction if there was an oath involved. I guess that's where I went wrong. I should have made the seller swear an oath, and told them that Oathbreakers Die.

I feel like that post was kind of wishy-washy on my part, sorry, but There is a lot of conflict of interest going on for Rudabeh right now. She plans on leaning heavily on The Power of the People to persaude Irovetti instead of prison breaks and siezing structures.

We'll avoid revolutions next arc?

Most important question...Did you see any yellow-bellied marmots?

I saw one, and it was very fat. It was clearly stocking up for winter. Lots of ground squirrels, regular squirrels, chipmunks and deer. As well as ravens, which was cool. No bears or mountain lions.

Yesss they're big fattos. So cute. I love squirrels of all kinds!

I have some ideas I want to propose to about some kind of constitutional monarchy, but I actually don't have many ideas of how they were run, so Ineed to do some research. I don't even know if such a thing would even fly in the river kingdoms.

There have been many examples. You may find researching the Polish system intriguing as they often had outside Kings, selected because they had no local ties. As some historians put it- 'The legislators of the unified state truly did not see it as a monarchy at all, but as a republic under the presidency of the King. '

Hawaii also had an interesting system for a time.

Of course you also have the current intriguing Andorran idea, which has TWO ceremonial heads of state...

Poland was an interesting example. For quite a while they ran under a system where even a single dissenting voice from a single noble could prevent a law from being enacted. And in a land with hundreds of nobles.... well, you can see why that might be a problem.

Hungary offficaly had an elected monarchy too, although the elections often fell quite heavily on elected lines. Anyone with any sort of noble title could vote for king- and while these events where often dominated by magnates with lots of land, in theory somewhere between 5-8% of the population wound up having some sort of say in government, all the way back in the days of fuedalism.

England’s got the manga carta and whatnot. Heck, they’re still a constitutional monarchy today, even if they don’t have an explicitly written constitution.

There’s also The second French empire to consider, where the emperor first got himself elected president by a wide margin and then crowned himself emperor based on his popular mandate.

History is fun and fascinating like this.

Wow you've all got great places to start, thanks! I like the idea of the Polish king being from outside lands, maybe I can go with that angle. A republic with a king elected by the representatives (which is totally full of holes government-wise, but Rudabeh wouldn't be able to concoct a perfect system here) is what I"m thinking she would aim for, anything to counteract the fuedalism IRovetti is trying to build.

Keeping Irovetti as king and still giving the people representation, which is her goal, is going to be difficult. If it all falls short, well... the fat ones are probably going to get cut down to size.

I think Rudabeh is getting to enjoy being a rebellious firebrand a bit too much....

Haha her player certainly is! She still has reservations, but it's certainly a good opportunity to preach the tenants of Alseta.

I struggled with what to do here.

If Rudabeh were wiser, she would have left even though there is clearly some kind of abuse going on. Attacking the soldiers is merely going to cause the church of Alseta to be incriminated in all this. It may protect them in the short term, but in the long term I doubt it will go well.

This finally managed to piss Rudabeh off though, ransacking a church of Alseta like that... unacceptable!

Also, Irovetti's soldiers and his guards are different, right? I imagine the soliders being.. well, soldiers, while the guards are more like police? She is fine with killing soldiers (it's their job to attack and they are expected to die), but she will avoid killing guards (because they are defending place/enforcers of law/doing what they're told/they're not supposed to be truly fighting or killing). It's not exactly perfect logic but it's her beliefs.

I really need to remember to check my equipment before Rudabeh gets into a fight.

Rudabeh has a scroll of magic weapon, scroll of divine favor, and a potion of shield of faith. WHY DIDN'T I REMEMBER TO USE ANY OF THOSE? Silly of me.

We have encounters so rarely, it makes sense.

Besides, nothing wrong with conserving resources.

Unless you mean the fight with Rennert then yeah, you really should have used those.

I'm of the opinion that unused buffs are useless buffs. I just forget what each of my characters has on hand...

Haha yeah... I really hope Rennert stays dead. Don't want to have to tussle with him again.

The only downside of this game is the lack of cool monsters.

There are four side doors. Two are opening letting you see partially inside them. You see no sign of a back door or the mentioned priests.

I had a whooole prayer scene planned after they retreated. But I'm not the GM though so my narrative control consists of making you deal with my poor choices :D

Besides I had a whole jousting scene planned that got side tracked by a social revolution.

I am worried I used the 'house on fire' trope too soon, but ah well.

Hahahaha I mean this is really poignant, in her effort to save the church from being ransacked it instead gets burned down by the same mob she's trying to help. It's exactly why she fights chaos and why she resisted the rebellion in the first place.

All this burning lead-based paint is totally giving her cancer 100 years from now though. Unless you consider cancer a disease, then she's immune!

As for the temple fire...yeah, symbolism is fun! But I do hope you save the poor priests inside.

Going to try and find a window. Hopefully Alseta hears her prayers and they're open! Even if it's a bit off the ground she's (probably) strong enough to help the priests and their child climb up and over it, though then she'll have to find the door out.

Nah, Hell would be way better- it's a Lawful Evil plane! So she might not like it, but at least she'd understand it.

Really though, this is awful for her. By the time this is all over this will definintely be the worst experience in her 70 years of life.

Depends on how it ends up, I suppose. If it works out and she leaves Pitax a better place, then the pain will be borne easier. If she fails and the place is an abbatior like a min-Galt, well, not so good.
