Scarlet makes a note to check up on Posh right before people retire for the night.

Posh:
Scarlet knocks on Posh's tent. "Hey, it's me." Once she's inside, she gives a quick nod.

"Sorry for putting you on the spot like that. But something was botherin' ya about Pitax. I have a few bounties after my head from angry lords, tribesmen and the like. I just wanted to say if you want someone to talk to about this kind of stuff, the offer still stands. That's all."

Passing with a wave and an nod the party travels through the farm country and rolling plains taking in the sights. This is big sky and big grass country and while there may have been a lot of people at the the fair out here it doesn't seem that many. In all of a hundred and 144 square miles there may not be that many people.

You make good time and find a secluded camp amid the trees of the supposedly haunted Western Narlmarches.

I've updated the tactical map to Google Slides. It is supposed to be more phone friendly. Please try it out and let me know if it works. I've posted a new campsite map there. In the future I plan to keep the most resent/pertinent map as the first page though I think it will also come in handy for multi-level dungeons and times when the party splits up.

Also Posh, are you on a horse or did you want a mule? The group seems to have spares.

Also everyone let me know if you want to change watches, marching order etc....

It may be wrong, I was just doing what you did so we may both be wrong :p

Scarlet:

Posh nods for a moment with a sigh, but a small smile as he looks to her.
"After certain events I'm sure I can trust you and Alia, but I may let you all know in time." he pauses for a moment, looking around for a moment before turning to Scarlet. "It's not King Irovetti I fear, but someone worse. Someone the woman in the bar back in Restov knows..." he trails off before he takes his time to tell her everything.

He talks about early life in an orphanage with a human girl that he was close with and were often at the receiving end of abuse from the owner. One day an old woman came to them and said if they wanted to leave they needed to make their own way. The two didn't understand what she meant, until that night when the owner of the orphanage was being brutal to Posh and the girl decided to grab a knife and thrust it into the orphanage owner.

He reminds her this was the so called "Story" he mentioned before, but it was based on his own past, but he left out that he had done some terrible things, luring people into alleys so that the gang could kill and mug unsuspecting good souls.

The old woman had a powerful magic and the group had aided her in their killings, but he did not know exactly how as he noticed her grow more powerful, but did not understand as to why.

Whilst performing for more coin, he was noticed by an agent scouting for King Irovetti picked him up to be a comedian to entertain the king and for a time Posh could have anything he wanted, more women than he had in the past of any type and race, more money he had seen in a life-time and a well-furnished room in the great King's home, but much of his money still went to the "Hag" as he called her numerous times and one night when the King was entertaining, Posh decided as part of an entertainment to do a roast of the King and poking fun at him, but this lead to him losing everything and being hurled in a prison cell.

He managed to escape with the help of a few friends he has managed to keep in touch with, but one after another he lost them all. His last few friends travelled through the Greenbelt on their way to Restov, but were cut down by that same young girl, who he admits is Raven who Scarlet and the group saw back at the Inn.

She cut down his two friends he was riding with, knocking Posh off his horse and he fought to the death. Somehow, he had to kill the one woman he ever really loved and managed to thrust his blade into her chest in the pouring rain. The pair froze and for the first time in many years, he saw her smile again, touching his cheek before she fell to the floor dead, he assumed. He didn't check on the corpse and just rode on north until he arrived at Restov and met Cyrielle before running into the rest of the group.

Posh takes a long sigh and then avoids looking at Scarlet as he continues.
"I've done terrible things. In comparison, those people who ended up at the end of a rope had clean hands compared to mine, but I am trying to be better. I will understand if you don't want to speak with me or if you threaten me to not got anywhere near Alia, I wouldn't blame you, but I don't know what to think about Raven..." he points out, clearly meaning to want to talk about this for sometime "She acts kind to me, but at the same time she was working with Needles and...I think you'd agree but if someone had killed you or even mortally wounded you and left you for dead, you wouldn't meet up with them like old best friends, right? You'd want to kill them or make them suffer in some terrible way, right?"

Wow that took longer to write out than I thought, lol.

GM:

Wish the above spoiler to Posh it just helped me brainstorm to maybe write up on the companions of Posh's who actually helped him escape and maybe a rough idea as to why he believes they are all dead besides simply that he believes that Hag to have hunted them all down.

I'm thinking one or two killed by Raven, a few others distracting the town guard or holding off advancing guards and so on. I'll brainstorm this a bit when I'm at work tomorrow, but I'll PM you some ideas, see what you think.

Avoiding her usual sparring session with Scarlet, Alia spends time maintaining her equipment instead. Trying to make sense of all that took place, hoping to understand just what happened, and why so many young man wanted to talk with her that evening, she hammers on the forge, putting all her confused-ness into the blows, trying to find clarity in Findeladlara.
When it comes time to eat, she sits a bit away from the others, eating only half her meal, by herself.
I hope things are back to normal again soon...they should be, when we're back on the road...right?

Posh:

Scarlet sits down and listens to Posh's story.

"My boss always had a rule: Don't mess with child soldiers. Forcing someone's destiny before they can choose it for themselves is one of the worst things you can do. That hag had a good point- you and your friend needed to choose your destiny- but coercing you into killing for her own benefit? She forced that upon you."

"My boss, she wasn't strong. She wasn't magically gifted. She was smart, and spent her time carefully researching each job before accepting it. For a mercenary company, reputation is everything. You back out of a contract and that's it. No one will hire you again. My boss trusted her gut when choosing jobs and choosing allies, and she saw something in me and my brother: A barely contained bottle of rage and a kinda loopy dwarf who was obsessed with beetles." She chuckles.

"If this Raven woman is the same woman you drove a knife into, you said she smiled. This Hag's magic...it had a strong hold over her. You didn't kill her, you freed her. I don't know how she's returned, but it means you have another chance to help her be free again. So when that chance comes, guide her and don't let go. You get me?" Scarlet pauses for a bit.

"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone else here, not even Alia. My boss always said, 'Trust is our commodity'. And I trust you. Thanks for trusting me with this story. Sooner rather than later, you need to tell everyone here about Pitax. Because they trust you too."

Scarlet leans forward for a hug, or at least a handshake. After that she stands up and leaves his tent.

It's clear to Scarlet that Alia wants her privacy. I didn't mean to reject her so harshly... always the danger of being a bodyguard. Sometimes your charge gets a little too close. Scarlet burps, satisfied with a good meal.

At a rough guess, maybe a hundred or so. There are under twenty homes (including the three farms who've spent any time at--Benzen, Gallows, and Reanult). Each has between two and ten or so occupants.

Talk about a bargain. I think Posh is gonna hand over 100 GP and just rent her for a year. If they are too loud to let us others sleep, I'll just start forging something. The hammer should be loud enough to drown out their cries of passion. I hope.

I mean, a forge hammer is a much more relaxing, sleep inducing sound with meditative repetitiveness, right? Sleeping near a smith is not just for dwarves any more...

@Scarlet: It's more that Alia seems genuinely confused and deep-in-thought, rather than demanding her privacy...except for the sparring, which she avoided because she has questions and no answers for them, at this time. And is afraid of needing such answers before confronting you.

Female Human Adept 1

While most people have a bedroll (Scarlet just has a blanket) no one has anything near as flashy as a tent. Some people just don't know when to come in out of the rain.

I can see Naleksa retiring after this trip.

So Posh are you looking to be fatigued tomorrow or blow some cash in the tumbly money tent?

"You don't get out much, do you?"

Are other folks doing anything at dinner? How about first watch?

Most of the party tucks in for the night leaving Celyne, Numalar and their animal friends awake and on watch. There might be pleasant conversation going on, or perhaps silence, but when the last wind blows through the camp Didymus's ears flap back against his head and Celyne feels it too. Something is wrong. Posh seems very confused by the reaction as it's clear he was suspecting Scarlet to lash out in someway, but nodded to her suggestion.
"I will have to trust them all with this one day, but I'm glad I can trust you." for a moment he steps forward, a bit uncertain as he shakes her hand. "I know I can count on you. I'll think about what you said."

With that Posh sighs, feeling somewhat relieved, but also fearful of the future. Maybe it would've been better if she did lose her temper. By this you will be out of your tent by the end of round 3, and ready to take a full-round worth of actions on round 4. Granted tonight you could be sleeping under the stars.

If it attacks me in my tent, I want a percentile roll if it hits my anvil instead(it's there for pounding) and does an opposed hardness check with it's teeth - basically the same thing that was going on in Naleksa's tent until a few minutes ago... ;)
And just to get this right: I would need one move action to stand up(anyway) and I'd expect another to get out of the tent(as I expect the tent it "closed" of sorts, which is a main purpose of protecting against climate and insects)- if so:

Alia wakes to cries of alarm, trying to quickly get up holding on to her weapon, open the tent and get outside despite her lack of clothing. Figures, first night I have a tent we get raided :P Guess it's back to sleeping in chainmail from now on
Move-action to open tent, move action to get up from prone(keeping my grip on Estoc), 5-foot step out of the tent. - and yes, I may no longer sleep in armor(which I did for a couple days after Scarlet and me were kidnapped), but I most definitely sleep with my blade at hand.

Were you an actual ranger right now with two-weapon fighting.... That's fine. You can grab both as I assume they are close together. Mostly it boils down to rules for grabbing stuff off the floor in combat rounds (like if you were disarmed in a fight and needed to pick up your weapon). Having your buckler on your belt is fine--might even save you from certain dirty trick maneuvers--but unless that's the case you obviously won't get any AC bonus from it.

Celyne's eagle friend appears from nowhere! It attacks the huge centipede thing and hits it with a talon. (Remember you will need to make a fly check to hover otherwise the bird will have to move at least half of its speed.)
Scarlet attempts to scuttle away further agitating the centipede.

AoO Bite v Scarlet (prone): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22 damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 2) + 7 = 11 hit.

Fort save vs Poison DC 17 (failure spoiler):

Everyone else readies themselves.

Conditions Normal light out to a radius of 20' from the campfire. Many folks are prone and may not have all their armor or equipment readily available. People can't sleep in medium or heavier armor without the Endurance feat and not suffer fatigue the next day.

As everyone has a positive perception modifier and Celyne is so close everyone hears her and may awaken.

Sir Didymus follows behind Numalar as he runs by.
Not knowing where Numalar is headed, Sir Didymus would presumably follow Numalar's route, going behind (or maybe through) Scarlet's space.

"WOOF!"

Dog:
"You're not going near that thing, are you? Don't touch that! You don't know where it's been!"

As the smoke clears Sir Didymus takes a position in front of Numalar.

"Grrrrr..."

Dog:
"Don't come any closer, you foul miscreant! Or you will see what happens!"

Sir Didymus is now in the AoE of burning hands but entered after the spell was cast. FYI I am pretty sure that Numalar cannot order Sir Didymus to attack this creature as it is not a humanoid, monstrous humanoid, or animal (it is vermin, I presume). However, still hoping that Sir Didymus will counterattack if attacked.

Fun facts: With the +2 per extra leg, one would struggle against many insects. The most fun part, though: If you try to trip a tiny, regular, natural centipede, with only 20-30 pairs of legs, you will almost assuredly fail by 10 or more and be tripped yourself. Even if you are in Giant Form 2 and Huge with 30 Strenght. Centipede is the ultimate Aikido practicioner. Better develop a "pick up and place on ground upside down" combat maneuver. Also: amusing challenge for a deal-with-the-devil: 'I bet you can't trip a healthy intact centipede!'

Reflex save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

Numalar unleashes a bit of hell upon the creature but hissing and burning the thing still crawls forward.

Didymus in defense of his master attacks the thing as it moves to attack.

Random Targets (1 summoned bird, 2 Scarlet, 3 Didymus, 4 Numalar): 2d4 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8

Bite v Numalar: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 4) + 7 = 14 hits, triggering draconic defense.

Tail slap v Numalar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 Nonlethal damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2 Trip (CMB): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29

In a tremendous arching sweep it lunges at the diminutive sorcerer first biting and then snapping at him with its long twin tails. Numalar weathers the first attack only to be knocked head over heels by the follow up.

Fun Factoid! Typically in Pathfinder, creatures with a centipede's general profile and with 10+ pairs of legs are just flat out immune to trip and do not actually receive any numeric bonuses to their defense against being tripped.

Well, TYPICALLY :) Even a tiny regular spider has a very good chance of tripping someone up by making them fail by 10 or more. Heck, a Level 1 commoner has basically no chance of flipping it over, falling down during the attempt half the time...

Alia is pondering her options. Waiting up to see if someone else provokes(like a summon), in which case I would hope he is not attentive enough to force me to cast defensively=> hope he has no combat reflexes...otherwise I'd just attack regular...I considered provoking by moving into a flank, but a slightly above-average roll brings me down :P

The eagle tries to hover and attack again...

fly skill dc 15: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

which it does handily and attacks:

to hit talon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

to hit beak: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
dmg if hits: 1d4 ⇒ 1

Celyne finishes casting her spell first though, and a second eagle appears opposite the first one... add plus 2 to each to hit roll if they can flank for each other (see above too)

to hit talon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
dmg if hits: 1d4 ⇒ 4

to hit talon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

to hit beak: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

When Celyne is done and both eagles have attacked, the first one winks out of existence.
