Seems reasonable, Nazard.
Glad the curry was good, Megan.
Nazard, my parents are visiting this week. (CLeaning up for them was why I was slow over the weekend.) And then I'm on a roadtrip vacation with the family for two weeks. I'll post as able, but feel free to DMPC Heward as you feel necessary.
Thanks for letting me know. Have a safe trip.

We're going to go with the monthly lifestyle approach to handling expenses such as these lunches. Let me know how many gp per week or month your characters wish to spend on such things and feel free to invent your own eating/drinking establishments that fit your given lifestyle (other than the Cenotaph Arms, which I'm claiming and have designs on). In a city the size of Magnimar, if you're looking for a certain type of eatery or shop, you can easily find it (within reason, of course).
Also, on the website, there is an entry in the sidebar called 1MSI001 Clues. It's a place to list any tidbits of information you find, where you found it, and any theories you have on how they fit into the case. Of course, you don't have to use it, but it may help keep track of clues and identify which theories didn't pan out. I added a clue that you have found, though I leave it to you to enter any theories you may have. If you don't know how to work the table in the website, let me know. Clicking on an item usually lets you edit it.

Given your designs on the Cenotaph Arms, into which I've just wandered in search of a late lunch, do you want to role-play said lunch?
(Cue Guy Fieri and a Diners, Drive-thrus and Dives kinda moment]
This lunch would be good, sure. After all, what's a serial police drama without the quaint little bar where everybody unwinds at the end of the day?

Cool. Is it a cop bar? Does the whole watch hang out there?
Megan, as long you're back now. It's ok.

Nazard,
I know I have fallen way behind on this game, and as I had feared, it is due to lack of time to properly participate. It is not fair to the others in the group or respectful of the time you put into the game as a DM for me to continue. Please feel free to do what ever you wish with Erodel. If you want to recruit someone else to take him over that is fine, if want him to suffer some horrible plot convenient death, that is fine too.
I apologize for wasting your time on this one, and do still greatly appreciate the invitation into the game.
Nazard
No worries, Tal. We'll be sorry to see you go.
So to everybody else, anybody have a person with whom they have played before or are currently playing with, they'd like to invite? These pairings of PCs seem to be working quite well, so perhaps Megan, you know somebody local to you who would be interested?
I'm fine with either writing Erodel out (the job didn't live up to his expectations), or, since he hadn't yet made any irrevocable contributions, we could just retcon in a similar character.
Nazard
Hmm, I don't know. Other than this, all the other games I'm involved in here, I GM. Could ask my players... but was there anyone who was interested in this game but didn't get in?
Nope. It was invitation only.
My criteria were proven role players who could write and commit to the long term. If you know anybody like that, tell them to drop by this thread.
Nazard
Sorry if it seems like I've put the brakes on the game, it just seems like a good spot to pause while we replace our player. I'm really drawn to the simplicity of ret-conning the new character in, rather than writing out writing in. Hopefully, we can get a replacement quickly before we lose momentum.
Nazard
Well we did just find out a bit about our bad guy. So that's kind of exciting. Also showing off my eidolon is fancy.
I'm glad you think so. I've been liking the pace so far, and the pairings you all came up with are great. I had not considered you'd do that, and really, I should have, given how common that sort of thing is in the "genre" of crime dramas!
Given the pause, I have no objections if you want Markiv and Ward to be finished with Tiberius and make their way to the Cenotaph Arms for a round table discussion and role-playing while we wait for our new player.
Nazard
I keep thinking on the same lines: so and so seems like a good, steady player, and i've never played with... But then I check and I have played or are playing with them at the moment.
I'm all for finding somebody newwho seems reliable, but I don't want the game to lose momentum so early.
Navior mentioned to me he knows a few people from his Serpent's Skull game. Perhaps you could ask one, Michael?
Calatin ab'Halla
This request I've had for my Council of Thieves game sounds quite interesting. I think I'm just about full if you want him, Nazard.

The only issue with that proposal is that cavaliers are about the worst choice of class for this campaign. While there aren't going to be tons of dungeon crawls, many, many encounters will happen inside buildings.

I'm mostly thinking about people I've played with who were steady, but the games broke up because the DM couldn't continue.
Maybe writing Erodel out and a new character in should be our course. That way we could soldier on until the new player shows up.
Nazard
That way we can make comments about the new guy or the rookie.
So shall we just say that Erodel just up and left Calatin on the way back, or that he heard about the job offer and decided to bail then? I'd almost rather ret-con it so that there have been only the five of you all along if you want to razz the rookie.
On the other hand, you've been "on the job" for about five hours total, so I wouldn't get too cocky.

Yes. He just left. It wouldn't be the first time that someone quit for no apparent reason.
And who knows how long it will take the Captain to find an appropriate replacement? We might have been on the job a whole day or more by then.
Nazard
Okay, so as requested, I'm moving things along. Erodel came with Calatin to the Irefoot Hall collapse, looked around a bit, and for some unknown reason, said his good-byes to Calatin and wandered off. No explanation given, no apology, just left.
Which means we can move things along until we, or rather, Captain Percival, finds a replacement.

Hi, I'm Navior's aforementioned player! I have to start out saying I've never enjoyed bards (too much "place bard near enounter, push Play, repeat as needed"), BUT ever since I read the Street Performer archetype in the APG, I thought it sounded like it would be fun to play in an urban setting and a not overtly combat-heavy plotline.
I'd like to pitch a female human Street Performer bard who uses her talents to create distractions for burglars or pickpockets in exchange for a cut of the take and plausible deniability. Eventually, the Watch would probably notice her presence at various crime scenes and perhaps offer leniency in exchange for using her talents at bluffing and creating distractions in service to the MSI team's investigations.
She's street-wise, tough, and a bit of a smart aleck, better at lying than telling the truth, even when nothing's at stake. She'd be embarrassed at being caught working for The Man by any of her former associates and likely to try to convince them it's all an elaborate doublecross, but not above throwing around whatever weight her badge might give her in establishments that respect such things. Her alignment would probably be CG leaning neutral or CN leaning good. I think she juggles.

Joanna, welcome aboard! Your character sounds perfect, and it even explains why she wasn't Percival's first choice. Feel free to make up a profile asap and we'll get you introduced. Percival will probably bring her in at the headquarters. Calatin will be there, checking out the body.
Joana
Hey, therealthom. Hope you get your Children of the Void game off hiatus soon.
Nazard, I'll try to get the character profile done tonight, at least roughly enough to jump in when you're ready for me. Can I ask where to find information about Magnimar and its districts? Is it in a Paizo product, or do you have it on the campaign website?
EDIT: Roll for starting gold 3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6) = 17 Yeah, there's some of that ill-gotten gain.
Auriel Minick
Here's a rough character sheet. I'll work up a fuller background for her based off the character pitch tomorrow. I'm thinking she might have been apprehended with some pickpockets in Grand Arch and probably is best known in Lowcleft, but I'll get the prestige points up tomorrow as well. I took Deceitful in place of traits.
Nazard
Prestige points up and background under construction. (Stopped in midstream, actually; I'll finish it up in a few hours hopefully.)
It's already looking really good. Since Markiv is actually at the Pediment Building, I think I'll change my mind and have her and the Captain run into him there. Be ready to come in soon.
Nazard
If we ever level I'm totally changing my 1 evolution point from Reach to a Skill Bonus for that sweet +8 to Diplomacy checks. I'd ask if I could do it now, but that seems like it might be unfair with how much we're using Diplomacy...
The casefiles are relatively short, and the plan is to level once every three cases, though that was with a RL game in consideration. We might need to go a bit faster with a PbP. Either way, you'll have a lot of Diplomacy checks between now and the next level an very little combat (relatively), so it doesn't really bother me if you want to change things out.
Perception, Diplomacy, and Knowledge (Local) are co-kings in this game.
Nazard
You do get story award xp, and role-playing xp, and bonus xp for every correct conclusion you reach about the clues presented to you. Very little xp comes from combat. That being said, I more or less judged what level I wanted people to be when I created the cases, so I would know what sort of baddies to throw at you.
Nazard
Hi folks,
Just dropping a quick note to see how things are going with this game on your ends. Looking for feedback on pacing, difficulty, NPCs, etc.
I would try to push things a bit, but folks seem keen on roleplaying interactions with between these really great PCs, so all power to you.
As always, feel free to drop me a note here or an e-mail if there are things I need to be doing differently. Player fun is paramount, after all.
Joana
"Do not be so quick to move. We should wait for Laya and Heward to return. While we know what he's after, their mission could tell us where the Summoner will attack next so that we may focus our efforts there."
The Summoner totally sounds like a comic-book villain name. Now I'm picturing all our PCs drawn in panels with speech balloons. :D

Sharing information is to be encouraged, and does not even have to be in character. The best thing would be, if you have the few minutes you'd need, as soon as you get a clue or bit of info, add it to the clues page for the relevant casefile on the google site. You just have to be careful not to act on info another group has learned before a meet-up.
