EE Slam Damage vs. Ranif (+EM): 1d6 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 10 + 1 = 15
Hit against KAC 19+2 (wisp)
With a grinding vocalization, the creature takes a careful step forward, bringing it closer to Ranif, the only other being in the room of its impressive size. Still pestered by Kragga's pale green wisp, the creature attempts to level the dragonkin with a sudden haymaker and catches him hard in the jaw.
Ranif takes 15 points of bludgeoning damage.
Round 2:
Block 1: ??? creature (-20, distracted through R3)
Block 2: Alfin, Cranston (-24), Kragga, Ranif (-43), Ross (-42), Ziyad (-21)
NPC Captain Ross
A rattling voice clicks in over the suit-to-suit comms, "Tharystrix, you big bastard! Take a hit like a man! Like a... dragon... man!" The Captain has managed to drag herself up into a sitting position and draw her pistol, but she looks fazed.
The Captain's Inspiring Boost grants Ranif 9 Stamina Points.
Kragga
"Damn!" Kragga snarls when she sees her shot not do as much as she had hoped. Of course, it's a rock. It doesn't have any vulnerable spots!
She drops her crossbolter and draws her laser pistol, seeing that energy is likely more effective against this monster.
Laser Pistol vs. EAC: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Fire Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Of course I would roll a string of crits against the uncrittable foe! I suppose that means it doesn't burn, right? >:(
Alflin
Alflin grins as he ducks into more cover while keeping his weapon trained on the same spot.
Stealth trick attack: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (17) + 20 = 371d8 ⇒ 3
Arc pistol: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 151d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Ranif Tharystrix
Feeling a rib crack from the creatures blow, Ranif stumbles back slightly. However, bolstered by the captain's words, he goes back on the offensive as he steps forwards and thrusts straight ahead with his Dragongliave, swinging his weapon in a large arc in an attempt to impact on one of the creatures legs.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Oops, just noticed I forgot to add in the -4 on my full attack earlier. Sorry, but the rolls were really low anyway!
Ranif Tharystrix
Oof, thanks! I seem to be forgetting quite a few things today!
Extra damage from Ziyad: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 4, 3) = 16
GM Jimbles
She drops her crossbolter and draws her laser pistol...
Drawing her secondary sidearm, Kragga expertly lasers a hole clean through the creature. The area around the blast is red-hot, but the creature seems unable to ignite.
Yours is truly a uniquely cruel fate, Kragga-wasted-crit.
Alflin grins as he ducks into more cover while keeping his weapon trained on the same spot.
Alfin deftly rolls behind some rubble to break the creature's line of sight, but when he pops back up again, the creature has shifted position and the halfling's shot goes wide.
... swinging his weapon in a large arc in an attempt to impact on one of the creatures legs.
Ranif's attack is fast, vicious, and magically supercharged. Although the keen edge of the glaive has difficulty cracking the tough stone, the sheer force of the blow coupled with the supercharged electric field shatters one of the creature's legs entirely.
I forgot to chide you for forgetting the -4 to full attacks, so we're even. I'm just glad you were able to hit w/ supercharge. I'd hate to see 4d6 go to waste.
Round 2:
Block 1: ??? creature
Block 2: Alfin, Cranston (-24), Kragga, Ranif, Ross, Ziyad (-21)
Round 3:
Block 1: ??? creature (-45, distracted through R3)
Block 2: Alfin, Cranston (-24), Kragga, Ranif (-34), Ross (-42), Ziyad (-21)
Cranston Mills
Hoping the creature's attention stays on Ranif, Cranston again takes careful aim with his arc pistol.
Arc Pistol Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Arc Pistol Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Not one to let her inability to damage the creature be a damper on her enthusiasm, Lucille fires off another round.
Semi-Auto Pistol Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Semi-Auto Pistol Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Ziyad
"Earth elemental! Earth elemental!" she shouts over the comms "Pour whatever energy you got into it, forget about traditional attacks!"
Ziyad commands the nomadic wandering motes of arcane quanta to break down a small region of the vacuum and start building up elemental oxygen from virtual particle interactions. As the singlet oxygen becomes diatomic, she sends another magical wave increasing the intensity of their atomic oscillations, sending the whole place ablaze with a burning carpet of rolling flame!
Overheat: 2d8 ⇒ (7, 4) = 11 reflex half DC 13, and affects objects in the area
GM Jimbles
Cranston again takes careful aim with his arc pistol.
In the flurry of stone and dragonglaive, both Cranston and Lucille miss their marks.
Ziyad commands the nomadic wandering motes of arcane quanta to break down a small region of the vacuum and start building up elemental oxygen from virtual particle interactions...
Your technomancy flavor text is just such fun to read.
Succeeds for half damage.
As Ziyad unleashes her fiery spell, the elemental quickly rearranges its floating masses so that the largest rocks take the brunt of the heat. Cracks spread under the rapid fluctuations in temperature, but it successfully mitigates some of the damage.
The scattered barrels, however, are not so lucky. Under the intense heat, their plastic melts and then bursts, dumping a few hundred gallons of water into the hot vacuum. Quickly, a thick cloud of water vapor fills much of the room.
This vapor cloud provides concealment (20% miss chance), and is dissipating quickly - it'll be effectively gone by the end of Round 3.
Round 3:
Block 1: earth elemental (-51, distracted through R3)
Block 2: Alfin, Cranston (-24), Kragga, Ranif (-34), Ross (-42), Ziyad (-21)
GM Jimbles
The elemental, reeling from considerable damage, lashes out animalistically, attempting to strike Ranif through the vapor cloud.
Concealment (>20 to hit): 1d100 ⇒ 34
EE Slam Damage (+EM): 1d6 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 1 = 12
Hit vs. KAC 19 + 2 (wisp ally).
Despite the fog, the elemental's avalanching haymaker connects with a bodyshot, forcing the air from Ranif's lungs.
Ranif takes 12 bludgeoning damage.
Raising a second rocky fist, the elemental slams it hard into the ground beneath it, splitting the metal floor. It flows into the breach until its entire body is gone from view.
Round 3:
Block 1: earth elemental
Block 2: Alfin, Cranston (-24), Kragga, Ranif (-46), Ross (-42), Ziyad (-21)
Round 4:

NPC Captain Ross
"It's not gone. It's just licking its wounds. If we don't finish it off, it'll hound us every damn step on this rock."
The captain draws a pistol with one hand while fumbling a vial containing a translucent blue liquid into a port on her helmet. After a moment, her breathing steadies and she stands up.
Mk 1 Healing Serum: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Kragga
Taking advantage of the momentary reprieve, Kragga calls on the forces of nature to mend Ranif's wounds. "Keep your eyes open for it to return," she says, trying to determine where the creature went.
Mystic Cure: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Cast mystic cure on Ranif then make a Perception check as a move action.
Cranston Mills
Cranston looks at the debris spilling out from the eastern door.
"So south it is, then," he says moving to the southern door.
Looking over the hasty welds, he assesses the work and how much effort it will take to bypass it.
I'm assuming that there's some sort of cutting device in the mechanic's custom rig.
token moved
Ranif Tharystrix
Ranif will move to protect the others, shifting so that he can protect as many people at the same time as possible. He then prepares himself to attack the Elemental if it reappears.
Move Action: move 3 squares down-left (I believe this is as far as he can move in one action). Standard Action: Ready an action to attack the elemental if it moves into Ranif's threatened area.
As I am currently unable to move my token, I would appreciate it if you could do so GM Jimbles.
GM Jimbles
"Keep your eyes open for it to return"
Kragga scans the floor of the chamber, but there's no evidence of the elemental - even the breach in the metal plating only exposes smooth, unbroken rock, as if the creature had fused directly with the floor.
I'm assuming that there's some sort of cutting device in the mechanic's custom rig.
Yeah, there should be some sort of grinder or torch in your custom rig that could cut through welds, although it would take some time (5 - 10 minutes, perhaps).
If not, Ziyad has the fabricate tech ability that can summon one forth.
Most mundane tools you could fabricate wouldn't be any better than what Cranston's got in his custom rig. The new Pact Worlds book has this neat tech item called an Autoclaw that could rip through this door as a standard action, but it's unfortunately a level 8 item and thus too complex for you to fabricate.
If we are still in initiative I'll ready an action to cast energy ray (sonic) when the elemental reappears.
We are still in initiative, but (sonic) is not an option for energy ray, FYI; it's either acid, cold, electricity, or fire. I'll assume electricity unless you mention otherwise, as Ziyad's observed the successful effects of electricity on the elemental.
Round 3:
Block 1: earth elemental
Block 2: Alfin, Cranston, Kragga, Ranif, Ross, Ziyad
Round 4:
Block 1: earth elemental (-51)
Block 2: Alfin, Cranston (-24), Kragga, Ranif (-39), Ross (-36), Ziyad (-21)
Cranston Mills
Is there a lot of water still gathered on the floor? If so ...
Cranston looks around at the pooled water.
"That thing's not on friendly terms with electricity. If we bleed a power feed into the water then no matter what part of the floor it pops through ... "
He begins scanning around for an available power feed that he can tap into.
Engineering: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23
GM Jimbles
Is there a lot of water still gathered on the floor? If so ...
The existing puddle has mostly boiled off by now, but a few unpunctured barrels still lie around the room.
He begins scanning around for an available power feed that he can tap into.
With a glance, Cranston notices multiple wires fastened to the bare rock walls of the chamber, and he's able to identify one large enough to handle a significant power draw. Placing a small probe from his custom rig to the wire's sheathing, he grins as the reading spikes.
GM Jimbles
With a rumble, the floor buckles and bursts as a torrent of stone pours upwards from the floor!
Ranif's Readied Attack vs. Elemental (flanking): 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 2 = 16
Miss.
Alfin's Readied Attack vs. Elemental (flanking): 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 8 + 2 = 23
Alfin's Damage (E) vs. Elemental: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Hit!
Ranif's swing is overeager, and he cleaves through the space before the elemental can fully appear. Alfin is more patient, however, and gets in a shot. The creature made of stone and anger lashes out at the source of its electrical anguish.
EE Slam Damage vs. Alfin (+ EM): 1d6 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 1 = 12
Hit against KAC 17.
The backlash strikes Alfin directly in the chest, hammering the lithe halfling against the wall.
Alfin takes 12 bludgeoning damage.
Round 4:
Block 1: earth elemental
Block 2: Alfin (-12), Cranston (-24), Kragga, Ranif (-39), Ross (-36), Ziyad (-21)
Round 5:
Block 1: earth elemental (-57)
Block 2: Alfin (-12), Cranston (-24), Kragga, Ranif (-39), Ross (-36), Ziyad (-21)
Kragga
Focusing her fury on the elemental, Kragga fires off two quick shots.
Laser Pistol, Full Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 - 4 = 181d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 - 4 = 11
Fire Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Ranif Tharystrix
Seeing his initial attack miss, Ranif attacks more carefully this time. Swinging the Dragongaive in an arc from the right, he attempts to to attack while it is distracted by others.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 2 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Alflin
Alflin nods, takes a step back from the rampaging elemental and fires his arc pistol again.
Arc pistol: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 121d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Guarded step, token moved.
GM Jimbles
I had readied an energy ray as well
Shoot, you did and I forgot about it. Well, that's a hit! Good job. You still have your entire 4th round, Ziyad Nevermind, read that next post down there.
GM Jimbles
Focusing her fury on the elemental, Kragga fires off two quick shots.
Kragga's laser blast strikes the creature, sending red-hot fragments of stone pinging off the walls.
Swinging the Dragongaive in an arc from the right, he attempts to to attack while it is distracted by others.
Swinging from right to left, Ranif connects solidly with the elemental. For a moment, it feels as if the blade might bounce off the hard rocky creature, but it suddenly yields, and shattered dust and rock spray haphazardly across the room.
Congrats! You guys are out of initiative. Take a breather. You've earned it.
Ziyad
Ziyad stumbles to her feet after the explosion, quickly rushing to the fallen elemental. She picks up a curious looking chunk of stone and runs it through Select's geological scanners "Can you believe it? What do you suppose the composition of that thing was...? Mmm...fine octahedrite chondrules, no doubt..." smiling at her display.
Kragga
With the battle complete, Kragga silently assesses the injuries of her companions. She chants a spell to heal the most injured among them.
Mystic Cure: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
4 healing to either Captain Ross or Ranif, whoever needs it more.
Ranif Tharystrix
Sitting down heavily on the flooe, Ranif powers off his weapon. Wearily activating his comm unit, he says "So, Captain, about that breather you mentioned? It would be greatly appreciated."
If everyone agrees, I think that a 10 minute rest to regain stamina points would be a very good idea.
GM Jimbles
4 healing to either Captain Ross or Ranif, whoever needs it more.
Go ahead and give it to Ranif - if Captain Ross goes down, I still get to play.
Looks like y'all're taking a 10 minute rest, unless anyone has objections. Go ahead and heal all them Stamina Points.
Kragga
Having avoided injury, Kragga spends the few minutes in prayer to Oras, hoping the battle with the earth elemental will lead to some new revelation on the path to her personal evolution. Once everybody has got their stamina back, the half-orc will turn back to the door and peek through to see what lies beyond.
GM Jimbles
It takes a few minutes, but Cranston eventually cuts the weld holding the door shut. As it slides open, the hallway beyond is dark and empty. Gases occasionally hiss from vents and pressure valves protruding from the walls and ceiling. The floor is mostly metallic plating, but occasional sections of bare rock peek through. It stretches at least 60 feet - beyond that, no one in the crew can see.
Cranston Mills
At a word from Cranston, Lucille comes hovering over. He turns on his flashlight and sets it on the drone.
"Go see what's down there," he says.
In response to the drone's questioning whistle, he says "Yes, this is still considered a hot zone."
The drone beeps excitedly and the slide on its pistol chambers another round. It then begins bobbing down the darkened hall.
"You're gonna think it's fun until something shoots you back."
Lucille's token moved
Ranif Tharystrix
Heaving himself up from the floor, Ranif once again hefts his Dragonglaive in both hands. "I had probably better take the lead again. I don't want anything to happen to any of you." Better for me to be injured than any of them.
"Let us also remember that there are likely to still be traps around." That said, he will look down the hallway for any more traps like the one that had hit them earlier.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
GM Jimbles
With Lucille leading the way, the party tenderly marches down the hall. The drone's camera picks up everything in the flashlight's arc, giving Cranston a clear view on the screen of his custom rig.
Cranston Mill's Perception check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
The camera picks up a large boxy shape built into the wall - Cranston recognizes it as a utility cabinet. When Alfin approaches, something catches his eye - through slats in the cabinet door, he sees a tunnel bored into the rock, large enough for a medium or smaller creature to move through.
Ranif Tharystrix
I am assuming by this that you mean Ranif is entirely incapable of traveling down this tunnel, except maybe (as in almost definitely not) by squeezing. Correct?
GM Jimbles
Ha, let me clarify. A small creature could move through the passage by crawling, a medium creature by crawling & squeezing. The only way Ranif could get through is if he passed through a woodchipper immediately prior. It's about 2-1/2 feet across.
Ranif Tharystrix
Gesturing at the opening, careful not to touch the cabinet, Ranif calls out to the rest of the crew. "I know that I won't be able to fit down there. Do we wish to send Lucille through to check it out?"
