Lugert, Half-orc Ranger
LOL @Kandor
Lugert pulls back from the vines with a wince. He then immediately vomits, spewing chunks of cooked rat onto the ground.
"Don't touch the vines. Ugh, give me minute and I'll cut them down."
Int: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Can Lugert wait out feeling sickened? And can he take 20 on cutting them down with a sword?
GM Wicked
You can take 20 on Survival to cut them down, but the illness feels like it's going to stick with you for a while...
Lugert, Half-orc Ranger
Lugert gestures for the others to stand aside, his complexion very pale. He takes his sword and begins cutting his way through the vines. Once they are cut down he spits up a bit of bile and then waves the others to follow.
He pauses.
"Someone will need to cast light in here for everyone to see."
Lugert then moves up to the fork to peer towards the west.
GM Wicked
Okay, Plergk has two holy waters.
Plergk watches Lugert's antics in amusement before assisting in cutting down the vines with his shortsword. "Silly longshank!" Keeping his shortsword drawn, he follows Lugert carefully into the tunnel.
Lugert, the tunnel continues for a short ways before twisting to the south and further obscuring your view. The size of the tunnel remains cramped (about 7 ft at its tallest, and narrow on the sides). The only sound you hear is the trickling of water
Note that the torch and/or a light spell will bring the darkness up from darkness to dim light)
Lugert Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
GM Wicked
The light does not disclose anything that Lugert could not already see with dark vision.
GM Wicked
Nothing stirs in the cavern. There is no reaction to the dancing lights.
Kandor, servant of Desna
|
"I am going right, that part of the cave seems dry. Also, be careful with those lights Lugert, you never know what unwanted attention it draws."
Lugert, Half-orc Ranger
"I'm with you."
Lugert proceeds with Kandor down the tunnel. His stomach is still churning but he seems to be holding it together. Lugert carefully maneuvers the dwarf's morning star through the narrow passage, keeping it from hitting the walls and making noise.
As long as there isn't another dragon waiting for us I'm sure we'll be fine.
GM Wicked
Kandor steps confidently into the dark passageway, his diminished height granting him easy passage through the cramped tunnel. Lugert grabs Plergk by the arm and yanks him along, following the cleric.
As the tunnel opens up into a small chamber, an unnerving movement along the southern wall catches his eye. Here an enormous, hairy, red-backed spider lurks against the wall, the remains of its latest meal lying below it in the wrappings of silk. The spider seems recently fed and therefore disinterested in the tasty dwarf, and makes no move to attack. Tag Kandor.
Plergk brandishes his shortsword. "Spider meat good meat. Just remove poison before eat."
Kandor, servant of Desna
|
Kandor whispers to Lugert " I don't think he will attack us, I prefer to not fight him unless it is necessary."
Kandor proceeds to walk carefully along the eastern wall of the cavern, watching the spider suspiciously.
Lugert, Half-orc Ranger
"We're not stopping to eat until we've found what we're hunting for." Lugert gives Plergk a sideways look as if saying, "Keep quiet!"
This spider looks nothing like the ones we fought on our last excursion.
K.Nature: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
GM Wicked
I'm going to assume everyone sticks together and follows along in the same order you're currently in.
Plergk grumbles in protest, clearly upset at not having a proper breakfast, but hops along obediently when Lugert places a heavy boot in his rear.
As Samiya enters the chamber with her burning torch the creature withdraws further into the corner, clearly agitated. It hisses at the intruders but only seems to hover over its meal protectively.
Kandor finds himself at a fork in the tunnel. It proceeds downhill in both directions to his left (east) and right (west).
Which way?
Kandor, servant of Desna

GM Wicked
Kandor, here you see that the tunnel meets up with the passage from the north. This close, you can tell that the water is only a few feet deep, though the rocks on the bottom are coated in algae. Far to the south, what looks like a skeleton lies on the rocks near the murky water's edge...
Kandor, servant of Desna
|
Kandor motions towards the rest to stop moving. He casts detect magic and aims it at the skeleton first and than at the water.
While scanning he also looks more sharply towards the skeleton and the water to see if there is any indication that those who will come near will be attacked.

Kandor, I generally only allow a single perception check unless the material specifically calls for two. So we'll take the first roll, for better or worse.
The skeleton lies motionless on the rocks. From here, you can see it's dressed in old and deteriorated armor of an exotic style, though you can't make out the details. Your detect magic does not reveal the presence of any magical auras.

Lugert, Half-orc Ranger
Lugert moves up to within 15 feet of the skeleton. He keeps his eyes on the water and tightens his grip on the morning star. As he passes Kandor, who is observing the cavern, he gives him a nod. He turns back momentarily to single to Plergk to follow him if he can see him.

GM Wicked
Golgast emits a ray of light that springs from his hand. Although the ray emits no heat, it sizzles and burns the bones of the crumpled skeleton, which starts to steam and smoke as an other-worldly moan escapes its empty skull. Beyond that skeleton, the sound of rattling bones and splashing water is heard as those who guard this chamber awaken to greet their new guests...

Round 2
Effects: Inspire Courage +1
Conditions: darkness, dim light
Lugert surges forward to defend Kandor, but in his zeal throws himself off balance and nearly topples into the dark waters. He steadies himself, but in so doing fails to connect with the skeleton. Miss. Golgast has better luck, leaping forward to land a devastating blow against its skull. It crumbles into a pile of bones, unmoving as before. It’s down! Samiya begins chanting her magical cadence, filling her friends with courage! Kandor stumbles back, but gathers himself to unleash a surge of starlight that envelopes the undead horrors. Two of them begin to smoke and hiss in pain, but the other two seem unaffected. Two failed their saves for 1 damage. At the mention of explosions, Plergk cackles in glee, withdrawing one of the flasks of holy water, hopping forward, and launching it at one of the further goblins (red). It cracks the skeleton on the head, shattering and splashing blessed water all over it. Hit!. The skeleton again smokes and writhes in apparent pain, but remains on its feet.
They lurch forward once again, clawing mindlessly at Golgast and Lugert. Their bony fingers scrape uselessly against your armor, but one manages to reach Lugert’s neck and tears into the flesh. 5 damage to Lugert! As one of the skeletons exerts the last of its power, it falls into a dusty pile of bones. Staggered at 0, full attack to fall to -1. Thanks to inspire courage on Plergk!

Round 3
Effects: Inspire Courage +1
Conditions: darkness, dim light
Kandor once again calls upon the power of his goddess, flooding the chamber with dazzling light. The skeletons all burn and smoke from the radiance, and one of them (orange) crumbles under its heat! In a fit of rage, Lugert cracks his morningstar over the head of another (purple), shattering it into pieces!
As the final skeleton raises its claws to attack again, Plergk grasps his shortsword and runs a wide circle around it to flank it from the rear, just as Golgast swings his own mace and sends it crashing to the ground in pieces! Plergk’s flanking bonus allowed Golgast to hit!

I suggest leaving the items here for now, because of our carrying capacity.
"Well done Plergk, you are a brave warrior, here another flask of holy water" says Kandor as he hands the goblin a flask.
"Let's continue exploring" says Kandor as he walks westward.
Plergk has now again 2 flasks of holy water.
GM Wicked
Plergk's beady red eyes shine with pride. "More fire water!" he screams in glee as Kandor hands him another flask. "Longhshank skellies not good meat, but fun to burn! Yes, these the skellies who attack Licktoads!"
Kandor sees the first northern passage connecting with a tunnel you've already seen. The second tunnel leads north into another, unexplored section of the cave.
Gôlgast
"I just want to see if there might be any loot we missed."
Gôlgast will move into the cave and stop to cast a Detect Magic cantrip.
He will turn around to scan all the water, from East to South to West.
He wants to check for any glints of magic from the cave's water.

Golgast detects no magic in the water. The cave is barren.
