Ian says "Looks like we will have to leave our horses." Ian with Polynium next to him looks into the hole looking for any clues. Ian also draws his bow.
Perception
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Also Polynium has scent so could detect creatures. And get darkvision 60 feet when he is summoned.
Ian Wronski
Ian says "Good job polynium for noticing the scent down the hole that follows where the scent from the scarf went. I think we should go down the hole. The hole may be slippery so we should climb down it with rope." Ian gets the rope out his backpack and looks for a place to secure it.
Caelash Suul
Caelash puts Ekahuei back in his clothing and stows his bow. He tells Sprocket to stay up here and lay low, keeping an eye out for trouble. Sprocket and Caelash can communicate mentally as a free action across vast distances, so they will do that. If Sprocket encounters danger, Caelash will dismiss him and re-summon him later on. If Caelash encounters danger, he'll have Sprocket follow if he can, and he's close, or else have him wait for further orders.
"I'm ready. If there's a chance to save anyone, we should try. If it's too dark, we can cast light on our ropes to illuminate the passage all the way down."
Ian Wronski
Ian gets the silk rope out and ties a stong knot that will not slip around the notch and prepares to help the rope and look down while Caelash descends.
Ian Wronski
Ian replies "if it turns out we do not have enough I have another 50 feet of silk rope."
Ian then pauses and asks Uriel "Any problems spotted down there?"
Ian Wronski
Ian asks Uriel "Can you see the bottom This does not seem to be a good thing."
Ian Wronski
Ian asks "How much rope do you have left I think we may not be able to reach the bottom safely. ". Ian then turns to Caelash and says "Do you have any rope?".
Uriel Darkbane
I have fifty feet on my belt but I am not going to try to tie it to the end while still hanging on down here. Drummer, my pack horse, has fifty feet on him also. Perhaps we could tie all the ropes together and then use the horses as an anchor point to lower us down one or more at a time. That might be easier than climbing down. Also, I have trained Seket to handle horses, so she could orchestrate the animals while the last of us went down.
Ian Wronski
Ian says "I agree a failsafe anchor is a good idea." Ian gets his other rope out and ties it to the other rope he has out. Ian asks "Who will climb down first this time?"
Uriel Darkbane
How about if I go down first with you guys using the horses to help lower me down? Although you may see well with little light, I can see well without any light. Plus I am taller with heavier armor. If I run into something I can signal for you to lift me out in a hurry and Seket can forward the message if I am unable to communicate it. Then, if I safely reach the bottom, you can climb down after me. That might be safer than having the man in full plate climb down after you.
If you agree, send me on down. If someone still wants to go first, that is ok with me also.
Ian Wronski
Ian helps Caelash ready the horses and ropes and starts to prepare to send Uriel down again.

Ian moves to tunnel but realizes he cannot see to the bottom.

As a free action: Caelash yells loudly to Ian, "Giant crabs!! We could use a hand!" Then, Caelash mentally commands Sprocket to wait at the tunnel entrance up top.

Remember, Caelash has an ioun torch floating around his head. How many crabs can I see, and how close are they/what's their position. Is there any high ground (rock shelf, ledge, giant stalagmite)? How big is the room/can I see any walls with my ioun torch + low-light vision?
Uriel Darkbane
Uriel draws his scimitar and strikes at the crab while looking for dry land to stand in and debating whether or not yelling for help will draw more attention.
If he needs to take a five foot step forward to swing, he will do so.

So, there's a hole above us, it ends at a right-angle to this 15-foot wide tunnel, and I assume the end of the tunnel ends in darkness. Safe assumption? What's the floor like? Normal movement?
