Uriel

Spoiler:
you don't detect any evil down the hole, but it is a deep hole

male half elf level 1 ranger(horselord)/summoner level 2 cavailer/druid level 3 ranger(horselord) /cleric level 4 fighter(mounted fury)/bard level 5 gunslinger/rouge(scout) level 6 cavalier/summoner level 7 ranger/ summoner

Ian says "Looks like we will have to leave our horses." Ian with Polynium next to him looks into the hole looking for any clues. Ian also draws his bow.

Perception

Also Polynium has scent so could detect creatures. And get darkvision 60 feet when he is summoned.

Ian

Spoiler:
Polynium notices a faint smell from the scarf carries down the hole

male half elf level 1 ranger(horselord)/summoner level 2 cavailer/druid level 3 ranger(horselord) /cleric level 4 fighter(mounted fury)/bard level 5 gunslinger/rouge(scout) level 6 cavalier/summoner level 7 ranger/ summoner

Ian says "Good job polynium for noticing the scent down the hole that follows where the scent from the scarf went. I think we should go down the hole. The hole may be slippery so we should climb down it with rope." Ian gets the rope out his backpack and looks for a place to secure it.

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

there is a notch on the cave wall that could be used to secure a rope to form an anchor point

Caelash puts Ekahuei back in his clothing and stows his bow. He tells Sprocket to stay up here and lay low, keeping an eye out for trouble. Sprocket and Caelash can communicate mentally as a free action across vast distances, so they will do that. If Sprocket encounters danger, Caelash will dismiss him and re-summon him later on. If Caelash encounters danger, he'll have Sprocket follow if he can, and he's close, or else have him wait for further orders.

"I'm ready. If there's a chance to save anyone, we should try. If it's too dark, we can cast light on our ropes to illuminate the passage all the way down."

male half elf level 1 ranger(horselord)/summoner level 2 cavailer/druid level 3 ranger(horselord) /cleric level 4 fighter(mounted fury)/bard level 5 gunslinger/rouge(scout) level 6 cavalier/summoner level 7 ranger/ summoner

Ian gets the silk rope out and ties a stong knot that will not slip around the notch and prepares to help the rope and look down while Caelash descends.

"Uriel, you can do the honors, friend."

[ooc]I assume that the honor is being the first down. gulp. *worried*

Uriel stowes his shield upon his back and begins the descent down the rope. He braces against the wall if at all possible.

mechanics:

Uriel

Spoiler:
as you climb down you hear above the splashing of water further down the hole, strange clicking noises and gargling sounds

Caelash whispers loudly "How far down does it go? Do we have enough rope?"

male half elf level 1 ranger(horselord)/summoner level 2 cavailer/druid level 3 ranger(horselord) /cleric level 4 fighter(mounted fury)/bard level 5 gunslinger/rouge(scout) level 6 cavalier/summoner level 7 ranger/ summoner

Ian replies "if it turns out we do not have enough I have another 50 feet of silk rope."

Ian then pauses and asks Uriel "Any problems spotted down there?"

I'm hearing some funny noises from farther on down. Some sort of clicking and gurgling. Either the water lapping against the rocks is making these sounds or I am climbing down a hole dug by a giant crawdad.

male half elf level 1 ranger(horselord)/summoner level 2 cavailer/druid level 3 ranger(horselord) /cleric level 4 fighter(mounted fury)/bard level 5 gunslinger/rouge(scout) level 6 cavalier/summoner level 7 ranger/ summoner

Ian asks Uriel "Can you see the bottom This does not seem to be a good thing."

I cannot see it yet.

I assume I can't. My darkvision is 60' and I have not received a description of the bottom.

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

thats right, the tunnel goes down further than that

Ian asks "How much rope do you have left I think we may not be able to reach the bottom safely. ". Ian then turns to Caelash and says "Do you have any rope?".

Uriel

Spoiler:
you have about another 10ft

I've got about another ten feet. So, I'll probably be coming up.

yikes, here goes

Uriel begins to scale back up, bracing himself against the wall as well as he can.

mechanics:

climb 1d20-2 but hoping for a bracing bonus of some sort...
1d20 - 2 ⇒ (16) - 2 = 14

Caelash pulls out a large coil of rope from his obviously magical backpack. "I have about 100 feet, I believe. If it is absolutely necessary, I can use some of my belts, sashes, and garments as shorter ropes."

Caelash looks at his clothing hesitantly. "I hope it does not come to that."

I have fifty feet on my belt but I am not going to try to tie it to the end while still hanging on down here. Drummer, my pack horse, has fifty feet on him also. Perhaps we could tie all the ropes together and then use the horses as an anchor point to lower us down one or more at a time. That might be easier than climbing down. Also, I have trained Seket to handle horses, so she could orchestrate the animals while the last of us went down.

"Sounds like a sound plan, though if we have enough rope, a failsafe anchor on a stationary point may not be a bad idea, in case the horses are forced to flee."

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

Uriel you climb up the tunnel without too much difficulty

male half elf level 1 ranger(horselord)/summoner level 2 cavailer/druid level 3 ranger(horselord) /cleric level 4 fighter(mounted fury)/bard level 5 gunslinger/rouge(scout) level 6 cavalier/summoner level 7 ranger/ summoner

Ian says "I agree a failsafe anchor is a good idea." Ian gets his other rope out and ties it to the other rope he has out. Ian asks "Who will climb down first this time?"

"My forté is spellcasting, not spelunking, but if you're afraid I'll gladly take initiative."

How about if I go down first with you guys using the horses to help lower me down? Although you may see well with little light, I can see well without any light. Plus I am taller with heavier armor. If I run into something I can signal for you to lift me out in a hurry and Seket can forward the message if I am unable to communicate it. Then, if I safely reach the bottom, you can climb down after me. That might be safer than having the man in full plate climb down after you.

If you agree, send me on down. If someone still wants to go first, that is ok with me also.

Caelash starts readying the horses and ropes.

male half elf level 1 ranger(horselord)/summoner level 2 cavailer/druid level 3 ranger(horselord) /cleric level 4 fighter(mounted fury)/bard level 5 gunslinger/rouge(scout) level 6 cavalier/summoner level 7 ranger/ summoner

Ian helps Caelash ready the horses and ropes and starts to prepare to send Uriel down again.

Dark Archive

ok Uriel make a climb check please

Hoping that being lowered by the horses while he holds on will make the going easier, Uriel begins to descend into the hole.

Ian says "argh I heard a crash."

Ian moves to tunnel but realizes he cannot see to the bottom.

Caelash slings his bow over his back and jumps down the hole, no longer jesting or hesitating.

"He fell. He may be hurt, and that creature may be down there."

When Caelash nears the bottom, he tucks and flips, attempting to land safely.

Spoiler:
you manage to reach the bottom without crashing into anything, landing just beside of Uriel who is fighting a giant crab, there are other giant crabs down here

As a free action: Caelash yells loudly to Ian, "Giant crabs!! We could use a hand!" Then, Caelash mentally commands Sprocket to wait at the tunnel entrance up top.

Remember, Caelash has an ioun torch floating around his head. How many crabs can I see, and how close are they/what's their position. Is there any high ground (rock shelf, ledge, giant stalagmite)? How big is the room/can I see any walls with my ioun torch + low-light vision?
