Karrak Ironhand |

"Well, let's see. We have eliminated the slaver gnolls and a colony of werebats. Also an undead smith and some ghouls. Anything else?" He tries to recall the other battles. "I can't say what else lurks down there though, there's a lot of tunnels to explore."

Hungry Voodoo |

Trathis fumes, "Gnolls and bats? I don't care about gnolls and bats! It's the ghosts we hired you to take care of!" He turns to Truther, "I ain't staying if there's still spirits sneaking around!"
Truther holds his hands up to placate his companion, "Now Trathis has a point, we specifically mentioned that the ghosts be dealt with. Have you even been in the gilded storehouse at the back of the Transept yet? I'll bet there's a vault or two left unopened. And beyond that, the path to the lower levels. We can't get to the mines until we clear that path."

Chitleen Shudra |

Chitleen's feathers are rustled "We have been knee deep in blood and death since we arrived... and to face the depths would only have left the gnoll and werecreatures to rend our backs while they were turned. The way will be cleared... when we are ready, and when we are able. You are no man, desperately clinging to each day and bemoaning it's loss... have some patience, or attempt the work yourself..." pausing a moment before almost adding further words, but stopping himself.

Karrak Ironhand |

"We will deal with the spirits, but the elf is right. You did not face the arrows of the gnolls, nor the nooses of the bats." He rubs his neck. "A few days more will not hurt you. But you seem to know a lot about what is here. Is there something else we should know?"
Sense Motive 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

Hungry Voodoo |

Truther chuckles elbowing Trathis before he can respond. "Right you are, right you are. It's been decades since we were first here and a few more weeks isn't that long to wait. You're doing a fine job, hey."
He looks at Karrak, "Well priest, we were here before, but didn't get to the lower levels: traps and spirits barred the way down. Back then, the Transept was filled with kobolds and gremlins. I think we got most of the buggers though. Not really any gnolls in here before, mainly the Spotted Hide monsters on the way in. There were some shadowy little men kinda-like halflings that were spying about, but they'd slink away to hide somewhere before we could catch one."
The dwarves don't radiate evil and seem to be on the up and up. Karrak senses that they are uncomfortable about the Hall of Ghosts they mentioned, but very eager to restart the mine.

Hungry Voodoo |

Chitleen has heard of dark manlings from the underdark that fall somewhere between the height of a halfling and dwarf. Though not evil, they fear light and have their own agenda. Chitleen can't be certain from Truther's rather vague description, but that might be what he's describing.
Truther purses his lips and looks dubious as the moody elf wanders off. He smiles at the other dwarves once the perfumed air clears, "Well, what's the plan? Are you heading out soon? The slaves have made some food and I'm sure you're hungry. Eat up! Oh and we've brought some supplies you've requested though it cost us dearly at the Immaculate Vault. We can't subtract it from your reward as you haven't quite cleared the place yet. It'll have to be cash or trade up front. We've got a wand to cure blindness and deafness and a couple scrolls you can use, priest, that will remove curses and disease."
Aktosh stands nearby squinting as he attempts to read lips to follow the conversation.

Karrak Ironhand |

"Ex-slaves," Karrak corrects him.
Karrak leans in to whisper to the paladin for a moment. "I'm not sure the original terms of our contract but see if you can convince him to give us those supplies as necessary expenses."
Touch of Good +2 on Lockjaw

Truther shrugs, "You freed them? OK, ex-slaves. I can try to use the wand to restore their hearing or you can. That will still be 250 per charge. I do feel for the poor cursed souls, but business is business. We will still need laborers so maybe they can work off their debt."
"The lost elf requested that we bring something to remove curses as well. I've got a pair of scrolls if you still need them; they're 375 gold apiece. There are a couple other odds and ends if you have something to trade."
odds and ends would be common magical items you might want, but can't get to town to buy yet.

Karrak Ironhand |

Do we get full value on trade-ins?
For the present, Karrak will trade for a Remove Curse scroll and a use of Cure Deafness on Aktosh. After resting he will lead an expedition to recover the ripped up paintings.
So does Karrak know what his armor is yet (consulting with Aktosh or others)? I guess it has +1 enhancement?

Hungry Voodoo |

Do we get full value on trade-ins?
Sheah, right ; ) Full for jewelry and art objects anyway. Half for used gear.
So does Karrak know what his armor is yet (consulting with Aktosh or others)? I guess it has +1 enhancement?
As mentioned in the discussion thread, the armor is +1 ghost touch breastplate which is wildly like a DC 30 to identify...
Wanting to cash-in on the destroyed art work left by the lycanthropes, Karrak calls for his companions to return to the Vents.
all in? and does anyone have a way to remove the stink?

Karrak Ironhand |

Before we go...
We have
my old masterwork agile breasplate (half value is 200),
600 gp for the rugs.
900 gp for jewelry
7 masterwork lt crossbows (1172 at half value)
Total 1972
I will go ahead and take:
2 scrolls of remove curse (750 total)
1 charge of Cure Deafness (+250 for 1000 total)
If someone else wants something right now go ahead...
[ooc]
Karrak negotiates a trade of crossbows for the scrolls and a use of the wand. He uses Remove Curse on Chitleen and tucks away in a scroll case (1 gp). He will cure Aktosh somewhere discreetly, to avoid the attention of all the humans.
[ooc]I would delay at least until tomorrow to recover spells.

Hungry Voodoo |

With just the dwarves remaining in the foyer, Karrak acquires the wand to cure Aktosh. The old smith smiles and tilts his head back and forth listening to the sounds that have been missing for some time. Finally, he bows to Karrak and with a gravelly uncertain voice, he thanks the priest.

Hungry Voodoo |

The next morning Karrak prepares the necessary pre-prayers (see what I did there?) to remove Chitleen's curse. With hammers sharpened and loot awaiting, the journey back to the armory is ready to commence- as soon as the stinking rugs are stored in the chamber used by the gnolls as a giant lizard barn.

Chitleen Shudra |

Freshly prepared with another squidgy bag of resin to supplement his vials of alkahest, Chitleen is also seen with an eyedropper that has a milky black gritty substance within it... but he offers no explanation as to what it is. Readying himself near the exit to the caravanserai he awaits the dwarves completing what preparations they might and setting out into Zolurket once more...

Tararr Trollspiltter |

"Chitleen, why do you venture again into these mines? What is it that you seek? For me it is the fury battle against a hated enemy. I care nothing for these merchants or for treasure other than the glory reclaiming a lost hold. But, for an elf it would seem nothing would draw you here now that we've laid low those who had wronged you."

Hungry Voodoo |

Aktosh identifies the strange undead forged breastplate with its phantasmal faces as one that guards against even the intangible touch of specters and haunts. He sees you off as you once again move deeper into the Transept.
following the same route as last time; over the wall and across the burned drawbridge?

Hungry Voodoo |

The adventurers stay to the side of the Transept and avoid the central gate with the infested pile of corpses. They climb over the barrier wall and back up the ramp to the burned out drawbridge. Chitleen leads the way across to set up a safety rope.
That is a fortunate thing because Tararr is not more than halfway across when there is a loud crack and several timbers give way to fall upon the sharp scrap metal below! The berserker pulls himself up and quickly makes it to Chitleen's side without further mishap.

Sheik Voodoo |

You're currently split with two across and Lockjaw and Karrak still on the ramp. If they don't want to chance the rapidly deteriorating bridge, then Chitleen and Tararr should head to the battlements near the barracks and pull them up with a rope. if someone has engineering then maybe you could repair the less damaged parts of the bridge or something if you take your time. It is too big for make whole.

Tararr Trollspiltter |

"Quite the gentleman you are, elf.", Tararr says with a chuckle as he moves to the lead." Turning his attention back to the others he shouts, "Too broken for you to. We are the lightest runnin' here and still it broke. We'll go top side and get ye a rope."

Chitleen Shudra |

I'm choosing to ignore the ominous fact that a pugwampi confirmed that...
Chitleen nods "Yes... step as light as you can... we are weaker when separated." To attempt to safeguard himself further, Chitleen applies his cryptbreaker's draught, gaining the benefit of scent... and after a few moments excising Tararr's particular bouquet... he is ready to follow.

Hungry Voodoo |

PUGWAMPI ATTACK! It does pop up now and then bearing ill news...
Tararr leads the way into the Upper Armory gatehouse and under the now jammed portcullis that nearly killed Chitleen. The elf still smells his blood on the points. Once in the courtyard, the odors turn to smoke and steel as a tendril of black sooty smoke pours from the door to the smithy that is ajar. For a moment, the elf thinks he hears a metallic rattle behind him as he and Tarrar turn to the door barracks door across from the smithy.
