This type of magic is beyond your ability to closely analyze but there are traces of necomancy and transmutation. However, you know that it is not localized to one room and that curing spells cause damage. Whether damage dealing spells are revearsed too, you dont know. Could possibly have to do with positive and negitive energy affinity.

Book also reminds you that Quentin gave cure potions earlier and that worked.

Regin looks up from his investigations. Necromancy and Trasmutation effects present. Healing spells will almost always damage. Potions should be more reliable. Could be connected to positive and negative planar affinity. Which means we may not be on Golarion any more.

With a gasp, Mirais bolts upright as the potion knits her wounds.
"T-thanks." the tiefling says weakly, looking again at her arm "What happened? Did I hear correctly that you said we probably aren't on Golarion, Regin?". The qlippoth-spawn pauses once again, and looks at the two remaining potions. "I-I still feel a little beat up, but I don't know if it's worth taking the risk. What do you think?"

Regin hastily admits, I know nothing for sure. It's only one of many possible explanations for the magical malfunctions.
