The jungle is thick and hilly, and they start missing the cold snow from the entrypoint after a bit,
then it starts to drizzle a bit, and that cuts off the horrendous heat.
They come to the edge of a rise, they're on top of a hill, that goes down about 30 feet where a little creek is.
I'm going to assume Bel and Pip are hardcore stealthy and say that they sneak up to the verge of the hill overlooking the stream......down in the stream they see two big dire apes, dressed in loinclouts and peacemeal armor of leather and some steel; with big axes and big spears.
Their brownish pelts are colored with white patterned paint designs and beadwork.
The two dire apes, about 9 feet tall each, seem to be spearfishing in the stream........

I can't really tell you more, but if you are willing to give me some info on where he is, I am sure I can arrange some sort of payment. You guys use gold? Or is there something else you need?"

One of the dire apes ambles up along side stiggy....he starts imploring for some whiskey by reaching one long arm out and nudging the dwarf, then gibbering "ook!ook! ook!ook!"
Elgan Joins the others as they start to walk. He looks at the dire ape with a fine elvin eyebrow.
"Ook ook. Ook?" He asks, handing the ape one of his own skins of mead.

He downs it quickly; and exhales ebulliantly...."This way. To the old one...."
The apes ambulate, sometimes on two legs, sometimes on four, and after a while are climbing steep jungled hill; they pause here and there to sniff the breeze for anything untoward........
And they reach a saddle ridge between two inclines; wave you guys up and forward.....
"Not too far now, new friends! We can see him, from up here!!!"
There's a soft burbling of thunder, from the other side of the saddle, and the hiss of rain.
"Oh goody. Ah needs a showuh." Elgan grins as he keeps up with the ape easily. (Doing the Disney/Tarzan walk, swing, surf trick on the trees.)
