Grushnak and Oleksandr make their way back to the hallway by the Great Ulfe’s room. As they pass the Diremole and Direwolf, they see that they both are fine and dozing. Duggar is making little rattling snoring noises.
Grushnak leads you to the hallway where the Great Ulfe’s room is. Instead of turning right towards it, he turns left. “Eye’s room just down here. Evil place,” he says, pointing.

Olek, you see a giant eye painted roughly on the closed door in front of you. It matches the sash around your shoulders. The door is unlocked.
You enter a dark, stuffy room. There is incense smoldering on a table by the door, and black hangings drape the walls. Torches in the corners of the room are flickering steadily in the heavy air. In the corner to your left there are three sleeping pallets covered in black cloth, with a small trunk in between them. At the far end of the room is a large, stone table. A stone box is at the base, with a carving of an eye on the lid. Candles with burnt wicks litter the stone table, as well as lots of dark stains and splotches. On a shelf to your right is a collection of what looks like jarred organs, with several large jars of eyeballs plus other deadly looking instruments, jars, liquids, cloths, knives, and incense packets.

The right manacle falls open. Sighanna moves her wrist around. She watches him work on the other manacle. She also listens to Olias' songs. After he speaks to her, she replies, "Ah I would love to delve into the lineage of the Gemcutters and their part in the history of the Towers of Doriast of the Holgirr Mountains. And I could tell the story of my ancestor for whom I was named and how she vanquished the traitorous Anganak and saved Grombarr the Brave - ah what a story! Perhaps when we have found Featherhoof and made our way to a cozy fireside with some ale I could enlighten you."
She motions to his drum. "That is a beautiful instrument!" she exclaims. She begins to read the Dwarven runes. "This song describes the Battle of Stonetooth. It begins,"
"Far over the stony mountains cold,
To dungeons deep and caverns old,
Durgeddin forged, crafted to hoard
Many fine treasures in mithril and gold."She stops. "There are many verses. Sounds like this is the chorus that repeats itself. See how the runes repeat?" She points out several instances of this. "I have never heard this song before. I hope you can perform it for me at the same fireside chat."

"May I see that axe?" she asks, taking it from him. "I'll hit the top, you work the dagger, and I believe that together we can open this one."
After a couple minutes the lock clicks open. Sighanna returns the axe and rubs her wrists together.

"Thank you for translating. I would love to write down a full translation of the runes" He takes out his inkpen and looks around for something to write on. The Battle of Stonetooth
Far over the stony mountains cold,
To dungeons deep and caverns old,
Durgeddin forged, crafted to hoard
Many fine treasures in mithril and gold.
The forges roared upon on the height,
The bellows moaned into the night,
The fire was red, it flaming spread,
Molten metal like torches blazed with light.
The dwarves of yore made mighty spells,
While hammers fell like ringing bells
In places deep, where dark things sleep,
In hollow halls beneath the fells.
Far over the stony mountains cold,
To dungeons deep and caverns old,
Durgeddin forged, crafted to hoard
Many fine treasures in mithril and gold.
Fit for ancient king and dwarven lord
There lay many a gleaming golden hoard
They shaped and wrought, and light they caught
To hide in gems on hilt of sword.
Durgeddin crafted, forged, and hammered
His creations shiny, strong, and glammered
In mithril silver, strong they were
Ringing and singing through the night was heard.
Far over the stony mountains cold,
To dungeons deep and caverns old,
Durgeddin forged, crafted to hoard
Many fine treasures in mithril and gold.
War cries were sounding in the dale
And dwarves looked up with faces pale;
The orcs and beasts more fierce than fire
Laid low their halls and forges frail.
The mountain smoked beneath the moon;
The dwarves they heard the tramp of doom.
They fled their hall to dying fall
Beneath orc feet, beneath the moon.
Far over the stony mountains cold,
To dungeons deep and caverns old,
Durgeddin forged, crafted to hoard
Many fine treasures in mithril and gold.
The wind was on the withered heath,
but in the forest stirred no leaf:
there shadows lay be night or day,
and dark things silent crept beneath.
The wind came down from mountains cold,
and like a tide it roared and rolled;
the branches groaned, the forest moaned,
and leaves were laid upon the mould.
Far over the stony mountains cold,
To dungeons deep and caverns old,
Durgeddin forged, crafted to hoard
Many fine treasures in mithril and gold.
The enemies attacked from West to East;
all movement in the mountain ceased,
but shrill and harsh across the marsh
Their beastly voices were released.
The mountain crumbling, its spire bent,
the stones were rattling--on it went
o'er shaken pool under heavens cool
where racing clouds were torn and rent.
Far over the stony mountains cold,
To dungeons deep and caverns old,
Durgeddin forged, crafted to hoard
Many fine treasures in mithril and gold.
Orcs laid the Stonetooth Mountain bare
and swept above the Durgeddin’s lair:
there black and dark lay boulders stark
and flying smoke was in the air.
One last stand, Durgeddin never took flight
over the stone bridge as dark as the night.
Mighty stones were broken, safety forsaken
and down he fell with enemies to no light.
Far over the stony mountains cold,
To dungeons deep and caverns old,
Durgeddin forged, crafted to hoard
Many fine treasures in mithril and gold.
Deep in the Mountain dark and tall
Orcs have come unto his hall.
Durgeddin is dead, now creatures Dread,
His sacrifice so his foes shall fall.
The sword is sharp, the spear is long,
The arrow swift, the Gate is strong;
The heart is bold that looks on gold;
The dwarves no more shall suffer wrong.
Far over the stony mountains cold,
To dungeons deep and caverns old,
Durgeddin forged, crafted to hoard
Many fine treasures in mithril and gold.

"You got this? Oleksandr? I'm going to start checking out that portcullis.."
Jolitharr makes his way to the hallway with the gate.
Jorlitharr sees that the hallway with the gate is actually the jail, which has been opened.
Curious about the meat smell, he wants to investigate further down the hallway. He walks down the eastern hallway. It forks in front of him, one branch turning north and the other to the south. The smell emanates from the room to the south. Jorlitharr sees a large cooking fire rimmed in brick with a hole in the ceiling above; the fire is starting to die down with no one to stoke it. Black smoke curls upward through the hole in the ceiling, looking like it's being pulled there. At the southern part of the room a long table with piles of meat, bone, fur, cups, small barrels dripping with beer, and long knives.

Olias grows excited as he hears Sighanna recite the song. "Wow. I'd love to transcribe that when I get a chance. Maybe I'll ask Olek for some paper when he gets back. Thank you!"
"My pleasure, my friend."
At this point, she and Thravum unlock her manacles. She stands, wobbling but strong. "I must find Featherhoof. I don't know if he's down here or outside. Did you notice any trace of a hippogriff?" she asks Thravum and Olias.

This occurs as you fight the orcs in the hallway.
Geim moves into place, hearing the wolves and orcs coming. He is in position on the eastern side of the bridge. His boot kicks the wall to the left of the hallway opening. Unbeknownst to him, as his boot touches the wall he brushes a small rune inscribed on the wall. The rune glows briefly, and Geim feels a cold rush flow throughout him. In seconds, his limbs freeze and he is petrified.

You find the trunk unlocked. It is full of folded dark robes and belts. Digging to the bottom you find a long dagger with a silver eye-shaped pommel. It looks very nice and sharp but is not magical. You also find a pouch with a stone key.
The stone box is locked, but you notice the key you find is the same type of stone. When you try it in the box, it clicks open. At the bottom you see a large leather-wrapped satchel, a chain that matches the one you saw around Sighanna’s neck, and a silver goblet. The chain and goblet glow with magical light. If you focus on the magic, you see the chain is necrotic magic and the goblet glows with illusion.
The jars on closer inspection are mostly preserved body parts, old and swollen and not easily identifiable as human or beast. You do see a magical glow coming from a tall jar near the back of the lower shelf; you see it is a hand floating in green liquid with a golden ring around the middle finger.
The pungent, sickly sweet smell of the incense leaks out of your pocket. You have a feeling it’ll take lots of washing to get the smell out of your clothes.

You don’t find any traces of Featherhoof in the eating area. You do find a significant amount of dirt leading down the eastern passage.
You reach a fork in the hallway. One leads northwards and the other southwards. Your keen eyes notice wide scraping marks on the floor and side of the northward passage. Closer inspection makes you think it was made by something large and sharp being dragged down the passageway.
Dirt trails down the southern passage, tracked and pounded into the ground by many bootsteps. As you look down the passage, you see an opening dug into the wall. Clods of dirt spill out onto the stone floor. Among the clumps of dirt you see a wispy strand of something grey sticking out. Streaking lines and loose dirt lead towards a closed door to the east.
You do not sense any living creature as you go along. Which way do you go? Battlemat is updated.

"Where n hell is every'un?"
"Hippogriff," Sighanna corrects gently. "The tall wizard went to look for a key," she holds up her wrists, "and the dirtcovered barefooted one went with him. He sounded determined to find Featherhoof."
She slowly stands, rubbing her wrists. "I'd like to get my armor back, and find some food. It's been a while since we've had a good meal." She motions towards the other two in the cell. "Shall we?"
She leads the way down the eastern passage, following the food smell. She picks out fresh meat and beer that hasn't been half-eaten or in a dirty mug. She hands fresh water to Sam and the young halforc. "I believe I see barefoot dirty prints continuing down the hallway to the east," she tells Olias and Thravum (if they follow her). Continuing east you see an open door. If you stand in the doorway you can look into the room. You do not sense any living presences from the doorway.
You see a large, wide room filled with barrels, crates, bins, and boxes. Racks of beef, goat, and poultry hang from the ceiling. Many of the barrels say “BEER” and there are a couple with the Deepflagon emblem. Grain and beans spill out of some of the crates. Stacks of pelts and furs totter in the far corner. Fruits and vegetables, some rotting, are packed in bins and boxes. Two torches burn low in the room.
The floor of this room is stone but covered in piles of dirt. You see two large holes in the wall, with dirt rimming the edges on the floor. Based on the roughly cut hallways and tracked dirt, you believe that the orcs were making tunnels. You see more thin, scratching cuts on the floor leading to the tunnel to the south.

She turns back to Featherhoof and begins to untangle the netting. "This may take me a while," she tells Jorlitharr. "You have done so much for me already that I hate to ask more of you... But I believe you are up for the task. Would you be so kind as to quest again for me? My weapon is an urgrosh, and it belonged to my ancestor Sighanna. I would not like to leave it behind. I do not want to cause a delay, as my friends from the jail cell need to get back to Blasingdell." She looks adoringly at Featherhoof. "I just don't want to leave him alone again." She looks up at Jorlitharr, her face shining.

"Featherhoof! Jorlitharr my friend, you found him!"

He nods with a satisfied grin.
He jogs back into the mountain calling out to his companions.
"You guys find the rest of the her stuff and pack up food? We should be heading out soon."

"You guys find the rest of the her stuff and pack up food? We should be heading out soon."
Oleksandr holds his finger over his lips hushing Thravum, Olias, et all.
In a hushed whisper,
"Stay quiet, we may be able to get a jump on the remaining orcs."
| Oleksandr Blackwind |
Oleksandr prepares his Orc disguise once again.
"Thravum, Olias, I'm going into the kitchen to berate these guards. I'm going to try to send them Dusty's way. When that happens I need you to quickly be on their heels for support."
He looks at the other two
"If you can fight we can use your help, if not stay out of the way."
He walks down the hallway towards the kitchen shouting,
"WHO LET THE PRISONERS OUT OF THE CELL? I WILL SERVE THEIR HEADS TO THE GREAT ULFE!!"
