Background:Sage/Wizards Apprentice
He grew around academics and wizards who were always trying to assert that they were smarter than whomever they were talking to in a passive aggressive manner. Thus he has a tendency to use fancy words when it really isn't necessary. While he has no real problem with non-academics he can find himself in socially awkward situations if he doesn't concentrate to try and act "normal." Sometimes his familiar raven will chime in to make an over simplified (or even rude) point. This is usually him getting his familiar to speak for him as he has found that the translation from his head and out of the raven's mouth can either help him say something more simply or something that he wouldn't necessarily want to say to the other person's face.
Knowledge is the ultimate power and he is always on the lookout for the dustiest and thickest books regarding any subject but if it contains information about magic which he is unfamiliar then he will likely value it much higher than it is worth.
