Norasha Mountainrunner
Its cool. And welcome back! Hope everything continues to get better for you.
Nodding in agreement with the elf, Norasha says, "Aye something we agree on finally. So let's head on over there and see what the blacksmith tells her."
Boram the Burglar
Boram nods his head in agreement, finally, were out of here, don't know why these religious types always give me the willies, need to find a pub and have a pint just to feel normal again. Almost rushing to the door, he turns and asks "So where is tha smithy? An' is 'air a pub nearby? I'm starting ta work up a terrible thirst, feel like I need ta rinse me mouth out er somethin'"
Aisha Rageborn
"Perhaps save the drinking for after we finish our investigation. It wouldn't pay to miss something while drunk."
Boram the Burglar
As they walk out of the temple Boram smiles and winks at Aisha, "didn't say nothin' about gettin' drunk, just want ta wash tha taste of all that" nodding back to the lawful religious establishment,"Outa my mouth." looking at Norasha he backtracks a little. "Now don't get me wrong, I believe everyone should believe how they see fit, yeah." He stops and thinks for a moment "But fer me,I believe I'd have a drink." smiling wider he continues "If I was human, I think I'd follow that Cailean fella but bein' Halflin' Chaldira suits me jus' fine, yeah."
Norasha Mountainrunner
"Aye Aisha makes a good point: let's drink when we are celebrating for solving this mystery. Still I'm surprised that we weren't able to find anything. Maybe we are dealing with a professional assassin. And I hope we're not! Not that I'm scared."
The dwarf was a bit nervous but didn't show it, unless you count her already having her waraxe out already.
Boram the Burglar
Boram rolls his eyes at Narasha's comment to wait for a pint. course she's willing to wait, she probably likes those stogy religious places, isn't that in the 'paladin oath' or something "I will go to boring old religious places and follow the same old religious routine every third day and two times on the seventh day" boring, next there going to be telling me not to put salt on my pork, or not to eat pork at all, or salt, baaa, I still want that drink. may as well go along to get along though, forcing a smile at Norasha he responds "All right we's'l wait, yeah." thinking for a moment, "The work of a pro? Not a bad idea, but who would pay ta have him kilt?"
Aisha Rageborn
Aisha gives Norasha a small smile, glad to have someone on her side. She's just trying to keep things on track. Something as horrible as a murder should be dealt with as quickly as possible. "Well, the note implied it was a planned killing. I don't know if anyone in town would have the resources to hire a professional though. It could be someone powerful from out of town but... I don't know."

Just wanted to point out that it is now after dark; the smithy will probably be closed.
Norasha Mountainrunner
Smiling back at Aisha, Norasha nods her head.
"Aye, most likely someone from outside the town. But either way, we will catch the villains. However, the smithy is closed now, what with being dark now. So let's head back to the Ramblehouse. And I think it best we keep an watchful eye too! Remember the wolf attack? Who knows what or who will attack us!? Probably best we have a watch set up."
Aisha Rageborn
Aisha nodded in agreement. "Perhaps that would be best. I wish we had more time but... yes. No reason to wander around at night when there's clearly something dangerous going on in town. I guess you'll be able to get that drink after all... Boram right?"
Rokar Longclaw
"We can track down Sara first thing in the morning, then find Kurst and tell him what we've found. I think he needs to know, and the sooner the better." Rokar adds.
Zeviel Grovesong
Zeviel shakes her head. "You can count me out of the watch, as I'll be returning to my own home rather than needlessly spending a night at an Inn when I have no need."
She pauses a moment before continuing.
"Other than his lady-friend's comment on the journal, have we heard anything else about it? Or found it? It wasn't in his room at the Inn, was it?"
WhtKnt
|
No, you have not, as yet, located a journal (if indeed it exists).
Norasha Mountainrunner
"No offense Zeviel, but it might be better to stick together. Considering that whoever was behind Rodrik's murder is now after us, we will be easy pickings if we separate. And who knows they may be waiting at your home right now! It's never safe to split up when the enemy is after ye and ye don't know who it is. Good way to get yourself killed."
The dwarf, while always arguing with the elf, did in fact show some concern for Zeviel on her face.
Rokar Longclaw
"She does have a point, Zeviel. Milani and I would feel more comfortable with the group too, I think." Rokar says, trying to stop another heated exchange between the two women before it starts.
Boram the Burglar
Boram rolls his eyes as Norasha's declares the smithy being closed and the plan changing to go to the inn. When Aisha points out the obvious, he just smiles and decides it would be counterproductive to reiterate, so he just nods his head as they continue.
When the conversation turns to keeping watch he chimes in. "Keepin' watch is a savvy idea, We should bunk in one room too, so's we can look out fer each other. I can drag me mattress ta someone's room simple enough, yeah, I's'l take tha middle watch don't mind splittin me sleep up none." smiling as he reminisces "been doing it for years cat burglarin', course I don't need ta tell them that.'
Norasha Mountainrunner
"Aye good thinking Boram! That'll give us a better chance if someone decides to attack us while we sleep. Let's also keep out weapons ready in case we are asleep. Still I just hope we aren't dealing with dark elves."
Rokar Longclaw
"Milani and I don't mind taking the first watch" Rokar offers.
Why don't you all start settling in while I run over to my place and grab my things? I'll be quick.
Norasha Mountainrunner
"That's fine with me. I'll take the second shift then."
She nods as the catfolk and his cat head to get some things.
Norasha Mountainrunner
Her eyes went wide as she saw Boram's reasoning.
"By Torag's sacred bread and forge! Boram what would we do without you!? Hold up Rokar and Milani!"
Aisha Rageborn
"Hold on! Aisha says as she hurries to keep up with the group. She's really not used to all this running around.
Rokar Longclaw
Come on then, it's this way. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes. Rokar says, turning back and waving everyone towards the direction of the Longhouse.
Norasha Mountainrunner
Norasha hurried behind Rokar.
"Just to remind everyone we dwarves are natural sprinters over short distances!"
Rokar Longclaw
Rokar smiles and waits while the others catch up. Natural Sprinter...? Oh Norasha...
"Maybe a footrace is in order, Norasha, once things have calmed down a bit? I'd love to see how the fabled dwarven sprinters fare against a simple Cat like myself. It could be fun!" Rokar says with a provocative grin.
I wonder if there's anything she won't claim to be good at?
Rokar continues chuckling to himself as the group makes their way towards his quarters in the Longhouse, but after a few moments, the sobering events of the day start coming back to him, and he trails off into silence.
What a day- it's hard to believe this is even happening. What is going on here? What have we gotten ourselves into?
Aisha Rageborn
Aisha just shakes her head. "Sprinters... at least the day hasn't been boring with Norasha around." Knowing she's not going to keep up with the sprinting warriors, she just satisfies herself with staying in sight while they head to the Longhouse.

The trip to the longhouse and back is uneventful and you find yourselves back in the room, discussing plans for the evening.
Boram the Burglar
Once they return to the inn Boram goes to his room and gathering his Gear. Returning to the team, dropping his gear "I's seen Norasha's room, it seems big enough if'n ya ask me. But it's up to you's longshanks. We's can stay there er ask fer a bigger room, makes no never mind ta me. Just tell me where ta put me stuff so I can grab a bite and a pint, yeah"

Watches are set for the night and everyone (except the current guard) settles in to sleep. The noise from the taproom below gradually dims until the night is deathly quiet.

Boram the Burglar
Having been awakened for his watch, need to keep a little light, but not too much. Boram places one of his candles In his candle lamp and putting it where he can keep an eye on everything. Later, after the quiet of the night settled in the Inn, he hears a noise coming from just outside the door; a scraping of a boot across the floor.
reacting quickly he kicks Rokars mattress and hisses softly "awaken friends there is someone outside the door."
if he has time Boram ducks behind the door shillelagh in hand.
Norasha Mountainrunner
Snorting a bit, Norasha rises as fast as she can, while whispering, "Eh? We under attack? Boram what is it you hear?"
Grabbing her shield and axe (she was sleeping while sitting in a chair) she quickly moves as silent as possible next to Boram.
Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Rokar Longclaw
Feeling the thump from Boram's boot, Rokar's eyes flick open quickly, and as he remembers where he is. Pushing aside his blanket, he rolls to his side and rises into a low crouch, running a hand over Milani's back as he moves, to rouse his partner. Staring in the direction of the door, he steels himself, preparing to pounce if Boram's fears prove warranted.
Not again...who could be so bold?
Prior to watches starting, Rokar would have burned a CLW on Milani, who took 4 damage during the wolf fight, so he could have all spell slots available the next morning. Is that OK?

Someone in the hall tries the door. Finding it locked, you next hear the sound of a pick being inserted into the lock. It takes but a moment for the lock to be disarmed, and the door slowly begins to open. A shadowy figure creeps into the room, followed by a second.
The map has been updated. The party is up.

Aisha groans as she sits up in bed. It's still the middle of the night, isn't it? She shakes herself and stares into the strange man's eyes. His mind is suddenly bombarded with stunning pain, making all of his muscles lock up.
Daze on the intruder. DC 14 Will Save or lose his next turn.
Rokar Longclaw
Signalling to Milani to follow suit, Rokar leaps forward at the unsuspecting intruder with a loud ROAR, landing directly across from Boram to surround his opponent. His claws fly toward their target even as he sneaks a glance out into the hallway.
Well if anyone was asleep, they'll not be for long...

As the figure enters the room, Boram strikes, but his attack is ill-timed and the figure dodges at the last second. Norsha is next, ruining any chance of surprise, but the stranger is also able to duck under her attack. Aisha's spell, however, catches her prey completely unawares and the stranger pauses for a moment, only to be slapped by Rokar. The man slumps to the floor, bleeding badly.
Milani growls as she tries to find an edge that will permit her to join the melee. Slipping between Boram and Rokar, she snaps at the stranger in the hall, but misses as well.
Suddenly, both windows shatter inward in a splintering of wood and glass, and two more people, similarly dressed to the other strangers, tumble into the room! Each takes a swing at Aisha, using a most unusual weapon; blades of jagged crystal! One hits home, one stabbing into her rib cage and missing her heart by inches, the other cutting a jagged wound into the mattress. The wound burns like fire! Aisha takes 9 points of damage and 1 point of Dex damage.
The party is up!

"By the sacred beard of Torag! It's a raid! To arms! To arms!"
She hoped her yells roused the other guests who could then alert the town guard, hopefully in time. She's yelling at the top of her lungs.
Norasha summoned the power of Bolka, which resulted in her axe glowing a bit becoming hard as adamantine. Using stonestrike
Axe attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 = 17
Axe Damage: 1d10 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 = 6
As she swings her axe at one of the other brigands who had jumped through the window, she yells, "Rokar! Milani! Get Aisha out of there!"
Aiming at the one who hit Aisha.
The dwarf was extremely angry at seeing her friend struck down, letting out of a string of dwarven curses.
