Probably better that he didn't take it. He hasn't come close enough to the AC yet and the spawn has had at least two hits that would have hit if he had accepted it. Right now Elliots high AC seems to be working for him :) For now that is.
Ramsis attempts a spell but has difficulty maintaining his concentration from the extreme blood loss and loses the spell.
Variel moves forward and heals Ramsis.
The Spawn surges, dropping Ramsis, forth once again as it unleashes the full brunt of it's attack on Elliot.

Two of the tentacles begin to leech more of Elliot's blood from his body, causing the dwarf to turn a sickly pale color.

More acid melts the hard skin of the Spawn. It looks as if it is nearly falling over as you can now see that it's innards are melted into it's flesh.

Not sure if Elliot is grappled, the beast beat the CMD, but in the turn order Elliot is just sickened
I think it's time to retreat. Elliot thinks and moves a step back. "I'm feeling strange, what did this thing to me?"
Elliot tries to lash at the beast with his axe one handed.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 6 - 2 = 15

Ramsis attempts to cast inflict moderate wounds. concentration: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 I am fairly certain even a Nat 20 fails
deliver touch spell: 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 1 - 2 = 8 Not sure if this is automatic while grappled.
IMW: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (3, 5) + 5 = 13
Good luck guys, I think I die this turn.

Well, lol, I'm going to throw my last acid bomb next turn, and if it doesn't work, running away is all I can think of doing. This sucker is too tough for us!

You are grappled Elliot. Just didn't put it in my cheat sheet.
Ramsis- The spawn dropped you at the beginning of it's turn to full-attack. So it is only a DC 19 to cast defensively.[/ooc]
Variel continues to cackle as he attempts to distract the Spawn.
Will save: 1d20 + 12 - 4 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 12 - 4 - 2 = 11
The creature seems to stall momentarily as Elliot swings his axe about but is unable to reach the creature as it holds the dwarf at bay.
Variel's hand charges with black negative energy as he touches the spawns tentacle.

Large gaping wounds open all over the beasts body as it screams in pain!
The Spawn, drops Elliot and lashes out at him once again.

The spawn once again chews on Elliot and holds him aloft draining him of the majority of his blood as the dwarf falls unconscious. As the dwarf goes limp the Spawn drops him unceremoniously to the floor in a heap.
Ramsis has now gotten used to the creature's stench and it doesn't affect his stomach anymore.
You guys are actually doing really well considering this thing good save rolls in the beginning. I did roll really well on saves and really crappy on his actual hits which seemingly is working in your favor.

Actually I am going to call it here as even if Ruprecht misses the splash damage will kill it.
As the spawn dies, it roars in outrage and then quickly slops away into a foul-smelling mess, leaving behind only a noxious, crusty stain of white powder on the ground. Eerily, its death is marked by a sickening
sigh that seems to shudder up from the very earth itself, as if something even deeper under Carrion Hill were mourning the spawn’s death. As the sigh reverberates, it is taken up by an even greater noise from the skies above Carrion Hill as wheeling storms of crows descend back to the city’s rooftops, cawing and shrieking and cackling in a cacophony that lasts for hours.
You are free to continue exploring the rest of the Asylum if you wish but that was the final boss.
Variel Arivae
|
After the creature demise Variel quickly casts a cure at Elliot and helps the dwarf to move away from the goo. Taking a deep breath he finally stops laughting, his throat raw from the effort.
Spontaneus casts CMW in place of web.
CMW: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (1, 8) + 5 = 14
That was... close. Good job folks. He whispers with what is left of his voice.

"In all my adventures, I've never come across anything like that foul beast. It's a miracle that we all survived. We need to see if there's any paperwork or anything else to show the mayor, but I don't have the energy to do much more than that. After that, let's get back to town and rest up."

Did you guys wish to continue exploring or call it?

Ru's the healthiest of this motley crew right now, so I'll let one of the more beat up party members to make that call.

You guys basically collected everything at this point. There is one more room with a few scrolls in it but no creatures so I wouldn't see why you wouldn't just get it. I will get out the chronicles then today.
With the spawn slain, the Carrion Hill Horror comes to an end and life begins to return to normal. Mayor Heggry honors his promise to award you, and in the light of their vanquishing of the hidden danger presented by the Keepers of the Oldest, he increases the award by an additional 3,000 gp. Of course, the citizens of Carrion Hill are not the only ones to take note of your triumph. The region has long been haunted by the agents of the Old Ones, and they do not take kindly to meddlers in their ways. They are patient, but they are also vengeful. Man may rule now where they once did, but as the stars draw right, the time of the Old Ones' return draws nigh, and the time for heroes has only just begun.
