As if gifted with prophecy, Zynep searches the hobgoblin's, and finds a potion if cure light wounds on each of the goblinoid archers. She also finds two on the leader. The archer carried only mundane gear; longbow with 20 arrows, longsword, and studded leather. The leader had +1 hide armor, MW composite longbow (+3 Str) with 10 arrows, a MW longsword, a MW scythe, 117 gp, and a packet of dust of dryness
Omrax the Bold
|
Omrax calls dibs on the dust of dryness...this humidity is making his full plate chafe something fierce. :-)
"Divide the spoils and then let us press onward."
Omrax will detect evil in a circle while the room is searched.
Zynep Ravana
|
"It was foretold, and it shall be. Drink up."
Zynep tosses Varg the potions, while palming the packet of dust. Who else has time to toss it at a water elemental? ;)
"Gear up while you can, then let's go see their kin about these ambush raids."
Luisila
|
Luisila draws four arrows to replace the ones she fired in the last battle.
“Did we check the room to the west for traps and treasure?”
Take (10) Perception + Guidance: 10 + 15 + 1 = 26
Otherwise she is … “Ready.”
Linnea Joculus

Linnea looks down and notices that in Varg's enthusiastic display of his axe skills, she had been sprayed by a bit of hobgoblin blood. "Out, damned spot!"
Linnea waves her hand over her clothes, cleaning them of hobgoblin blood and other detritus that had accumulated since guarding the caravan.
Prestidigitation.
Once clean, she looks up at the others and what has been looted from the corpses. "I don't really see anything that I need from that. Think you can be as deadly with that bow as you are with your axe, Varg?"
She then tries to make herself useful and follows Luisila to search the room.

Checking the room to the west, the party sees four rudimentary bunks and two woden chests take up most of the space is this cramped area. Despite the lack of room, the area has been kept neat and relatively clean. One of the chests in unlocked and contains; a potion of cure light wounds, 100 ft silk rope, and jewels and loose coins worth 83 gp. The second chest is locked, but Ernest is able to make easy work of the simple lock. Opening the sceond chest, the party finds; three +1 daggers in fine leather scabbards, a silver holy symbol, a set of masterwork manacles, and a coin pouch containing 240 gp. Each of the scabbards are worth 10 gp.

Once the party is ready to move, yoou head through the remaining door and find yourselves in a small passageway. The are two doors leading off of the passageway, one to the right/south and one to the east/straight ahead.
Luisila
|
After taking one of the magical daggers, Luisila nods to her sister.
She says a short, silent prayer to Calistria and puts her ear to the door to the south, listening for any activity in the chamber beyond.

Luisila shrugs off her backpack and puts it to the side so that it doesn’t block the doorway.
She then places a Bit of Luck on Cleaver before moving behind Omrax, whispering "When you’re ready" into the paladin’s ear.

The door is opened to reveal, an orderly workspace stands directly opposite this chamber’s only door. Neatly arranged books and tools seem to have their own specific places on the workbench and along the shelves. A collection of bones lies atop the workbench, arrayed like an incomplete children’s puzzle.
A stone altar stands along the eastern wall. Luxurious fabrics adorn the altar and the area around it, while several dark candles and incense burners glow gently, suffusing the air with a sickly sweet odor.
Standing with her back to the altar, is a wicked looking, female hobgoblin, leering at the party.

Luisila screams. “Zynep, I will stay to keep the front rank up. Everyone, please be aware of negative channeling.”
She will then take a 5’ step westward to occupy the position Omrax was in, and Copycat herself (move action) before reaching forward to give the paladin a Bit of Luck.
Linnea Joculus

Linnea, not to let a little darkness fluster her, calls out to her companions, "Ha ha! Little does this hobgoblin know that Luisila and Zynep do their best work in the dark."
Insipire Courage Bardic Performance (Comedy). 2/7 rounds used up. An affected ally receives a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls. At 5th level, and every six bard levels thereafter, this bonus increases by +1, to a maximum of +4 at 17th level. Inspire courage is a mind-affecting ability.
Zynep Ravana
|
You have no idea, deary.
Zynep then dashes into the mists, dancing around the hobgoblin. She ends behind the alter. She spits out one of the flames a candle provides in spite. She deftly pulls out a rusty nail and flings it at the back of the hobgoblin's head.
"Muscles become steel, under the powers I wield. Stare forward in fright, to see your death tonight!"
Hold Person, DC 15 Will save. Remember the +1 to Fear spells don't stack with Bless.

Linnea tries to stumble towards the sound of combat.
"Varg, is that you? This mist is really obscuring my eyesight. I can't see NOTHIN'! Did someone fall? This is thicker than the smoke that comes from under VC Dreng's office door when he's 'meditating'."
On this last note, Linnea can't help but use air quotes, even though nobody can see her through the mist. She hopes that the inflection in her voice is enough to pass the meaning on.

GM Tektite, I believe I touched Omrax with BoL last round, so I think he gets the benefit of that domain power this round, while Varg is currently free of the luck of Calistria. Let me know if you disagree.

I did notice that and I noticed that Varg rolled a BoL, though I couldn't see where he got one. I also noticed that Varg's first attack would have been a miss, so....I was playing dumb. I certainly can retcon it if you'd like. Your call. 'Evil Grin'

Luisila remembers Master of Blades, Marcos Farabellus’ instructions for a knife fight.
Daggers are a defensive weapon. Always hold the blade up NOT down. Strike at an opponent’s face or hands, in order to buy you time. If you absolutely, positively need to slaughter everyone in the room, DON’T use a knife! A smiting paladin or barbarian with a Greataxe is a much better way to go.
