Boris and Garen blast the last wight, cutting it down!
As the last wight goes down, a moaning begins to issue from the central sarcophagus! Moments later, a ghostly creature that is little more than a dark shape with two flickering pinpoints of light where its eyes should be issues from the coffin!
Only one round of actions, then party up!

Is Garen the only one with a magic weapon here? We need to remedy that. Unless this fight turns quickly we may need to run. I can't do anything but keep up my raging song for a few more rounds.
GM Tektite
Seeing her companions go on the defensive, Maffei steps over and attacks with both blades out. "Do not despair!" She says in a whispering voice as she stabs at the wraith.

Emraeal keeps up the raging song for a little longer. He pulls out a wand of lightning bolt but then goes into a defensive stance to wait and see if the tide of battle turns.

Out of Combat!
Searching the room, the party finds within the main sarcophagus on a skeletal knight a mnemonic vestment. Its bony hands still clutch a maximize metamagic rod. On the left hand is a platinum wedding band set with a ruby worth 1,250 gp, and on the right a ring of force shield. The body wears a pair of slippers of spider climbing on its feet.
And...level up to 5!
Emraeal Briskfury
Emraeal finishes his chant and then leans against the wall, panting and out of breath. He stows his wand. "Phew! We were lucky to have you, Maffei. Thank you. I was ineffective in that ordeal, I am sorry. I will be better prepared."
"Perhaps we should go take a rest before continuing. I am exhausted."
Woo! I'll try to level up later today.
Unless someone else claims it I think that mnemonic vestment would come in handy for Emraeal. That maximize metamagic rod is really nice but I'm not sure who would get the most use out of it. Maximized heals from Garen or myself I guess? He's got the fancy sword now though. If no one claims it I guess I'll hold on to it.

After vanquishing the undead, the party finishes searching the tomb. Going back to the stair not taken, the party finds themselves in Tula's tomb. This huge, elegant domed chamber houses a single marble sarcophagus at its western end. A mosaic of a black dragon decorates the floor. The ceiling is covered by a vibrant fresco of armored soldiers fighting a host of dragons, with a blonde woman of noble mien at the center, rallying the troops with her sword. In circular alcoves to the north and south stand life-sized statues of this woman, standing in a pose of triumph over the head of a defeated dragon.
As you enter, you hear a voice. “And who might this be? A new generation of dragonslayers sent to gather my treasures? I sense this among your thoughts, yet I was going ask a favor that will prove your worth to me, but I sense you have already accomplished it. My husband’s spirit was unquiet in his tomb—he lingers out of guilt for my death. Since you vanquished his shade, will you return to me, his wedding band? If you do this, I shall grant you my blessing to take up arms from this crypt.” Presuming you handover the ring.
Handing over the ring, Tula instructs the party to take all items within the tomb to aid you on your quest.
Items: +3 breastplate of luck (as banded mail of luck), +1 acid
resistance light steel shield, +1 keen composite longbow (+2 Str) lies at the body’s left side. Her famed weapon Wyrmsmite, (a +2 dragonbane transformative longsword), ring of strength sapping 10 +1 dragonbane arrows, and a single arrow of dragon slaying.
Leaving the tomb, the party rests and readies themselves before heading to the monastery. After a bit of a trek, the monastery comes into view.
Eight weather-worn statues in various martial poses flank a tiled patio leading up to the monastery’s gate. The weathered, iron gate is ajar. A guardhouse lies to the north, and three narrow arrow slits face ominously southward from its facade.

"Yes. Honor loot ring, for returning. Will find new gift to become king. Yes. Maybe dragon head? Yes? Do not want married, anyways. Want kingship. Yes. Many eggs. Yes."
I'll update when my data plan resets on Friday or I get bored enough to just chance it on the measly $15. Hit Die: 1d10 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 + 1 = 9
Emraeal Briskfury
Emraeal graciously accepts the sword.
Haven't decided if I need any of the other things. Go ahead and pick at the rest of it and if anything is left over or deemed better for me, I'll take it.
GM Tektite
Whenever you guys are ready, that last part was what you see approaching the monastery.
Eight weather-worn statues in various martial poses flank a tiled patio leading up to the monastery’s gate. The weathered, iron gate is ajar. A guardhouse lies to the north, and three narrow arrow slits face ominously southward from its facade.
Emraeal Briskfury
Will do!
Emraeal detects magic as the party moves closer and takes his time checking the statues and the gate.
GM Tektite
Emraeal finds nothing of particular interest about the statues and the iron gate is slightly ajar, but mundane.
Garen approaches the guardhouse to investigate. As he nears, a reptilian voice calls from one of the arrow slits. “You there! You here with the money? Where is it? Show us! Lord Aeteperax is impatient!”
Emraeal Briskfury
"Really now, let's handle this exchange properly. Come out and deal with us face-to-face."

Following the directions, the party passes through the ground toward a courtyard. The monastery grounds are exquisitely sculpted. Manicured lawns, well-trimmed trees, and a serene reflecting pool all give the place a peaceful air. As you pass the across the grounds, a singles bell begins pealing.
Moving into the courtyard, a single sycamore tree grows in this idyllic courtyard, and a wooden veranda along the courtyard’s edges provides shade and shelter from the elements. Sitting on a large rock in the northwest corner of this courtyard, is a tired-looking man wearing a red hat with a blue feather. The hat that was worn by Clausyre at the auction. He looks up as you approach. “I had a feeling you’d be the ones coming here. Did the baroness manage it? Have you brought the ransom? Gozreh’s bones, where is it? I pray the beast will be satisfied—my wife’s life depends on it!”
