Wymond Dwerryhouse |
"Lead the way, Frizz," Wymond says.
Frizz Doctrina |
"Oh... sorry Lukas..." Frizz mutter as she leads the way, slumped shoulders, to pull all the levers again.
Plan is to determine how the lever works to discover the other way into the robits room. Then plan to go in at the same time. Lukas and Frizz from the new passage, Wymond, Perfire and Jharun from Klarkosh's quarters.
Thoughts? Questions? Concerns? Gripes? Moans? ;)
Lukas Vanivek |
I certainly don't have a better plan! Lead on, Macduff.
Feeling like he'd just kicked a puppy, Lukas follows Frizz, more than a little ashamed of himself.
GM Tarondor |
As hilarious as it would be to watch you guys pull levers for the next week of real time, I have a bus to catch, so after "a while" you get into position, with the last turntable headed in the correct direction to come at the robot room from the east. I've moved your tokens as Frizz suggested.
Now what?
Frizz Doctrina |
As planned, Frizz finishes her count to 120, swings open the door, takes a couple of steps into the room, sickle and whip ready, and yells the agreed upon trigger word.
"HEY ROBOTS! YOUR MOTHER WAS A TOASTER AND YOUR FATHER A VACCUM!!" She punctuates it by sticking her tongue out and blowing raspberries.
Lukas Vanivek |
Lukas follows after Frizz, his face a mixture of horror and puzzlement. "Wait, what's a vacuum!?!?!"

As soon as Frizz enters the chamber, little bolts of electricity spark between the horn-like antennae of the automatons and they attack. One moves quickly and with its glaive knocks Frizz off her feet. She lands on her back just in time to see the blade come whistling down towards her head. She rolls out of the way, avoiding the blow!

He strides into the room, letting Iomedae's might suffuse him to the point if making his body larger.
Two actions to cast Enlarge on myself, then for my third, Stride into the spot between Frizz and Red. Could I ask one of you to move Lukas? I'm back to being afraid to move my piece from mobile. (I'll move him later if I get to my PC.)

GM, can Lukas have used his Shield Block reaction there? The shield and I each take 1 damage then if I read it right.
As for Perfire, guys, my first thought he moves into the room and uses Acid Arrow?
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Wymond hooks the guisarme through the gap in his bardiche, fouling the blow and preventing it from cutting deep.
Since Retributive Strike gives 2 plus my level damage resistance, that effectively negates the damage Lukas would have taken!
Retributive Strike: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 181d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

GM Tarondor |
Going back and looking at what happened last turn, Lukas COULD NOT use Shield Block because he did not have his shield raised. Wymond gave Lukas a resistance of 6 to the attack, meaning that Lukas took 1 damage and his shield took none.
Wymond block the blow aimed at Lukas, then slams his bardiche into the heavy carapace of the mechanical man. Recalculating the threat, the other automaton turns on Wymond, tripping him and then slamming down its guisarme to strike the fallen paladin.

Frizz's sickle slashes between the joints of the emerald automaton, cutting deep into something vital. There is a pop, a hiss and sparks begin flying in the air around the damaged machine man.

"Ho! That wasn't so bad..." Wymond says, breathing a sigh of relief as they win. "Whew! Guess we can check out the next room, see if Jharun's stuff's in there. Frizz? Check an' see if the door's got any nasty surprises."
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Wymond shrugs.
"Only wish we'd have been just as formidable actually fightin' Klarkosh himself. Believe it or not I've only been a dwarf for a day or two: I was human a'fore Klarkosh killed me and the others were able to get me to a druid in Thornkeep to reincarnate me in this here new body."
Lukas Vanivek |
"That'll be a relief," Lukas says as he shrinks back to his normal stature. Gesturing to the door, he asks, "Frizz, can you please do the honors...?"
GM Tarondor |
Frizz's player is busy with RL for awhile. You folks feel free to giver orders for him and Perfire to keep things moving.
Frizz checks over the door, pronounces it safe, gives you half a second to prepare yourselves for battle and throws the door open. Inside is a bedroom furnished with a desk and plush chairs, a large bed strewn with pillows, a thick carpet, and hanging tapestries in scarlet and gold. A fire crackles in an iron stove in one corner.
Jharun's gear is laid haphazardly in the corner of the room.
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Wymond scratches his head.
"You're sure Tiawask'll last? You were near dyin' of thirst when we found you..."
Jharun of Thornkeep |
Jharun takes a deep breath and lets it out and says she went further into the spire to escape. I have no true knowledge of her being alive at all but she is my friend and love Wymond. I am fine with reporting back to the town that you have saved me and resting there if that is what you are considering but I still wish to seek her further to know what has happened at the least Rebecca tugs at Jharun and gives him a hug and pets his arm for support as he talks.
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Wymond nods.
"Naw, I meant the longer we take, the greater chance we may only find her body, an' not alive. If that's a risk you're willin' to take, then we should rest so's you can get your magic goin' proper and we're better equipped to venture further into the Spire after her."
Frizz Doctrina |
Frizz looks around the room while listening to her companions talk.
"Why don't we just rest here? This is about as cozy as it gets from what we've seen. And there's only one way in." She suggests with a smile.
Search the room thoroughly please.
GM Tarondor |
Search the main boss's room? Gasp! I thought you'd never ask!
Well, first of all, you find a secret door leading out into the hallway!. Second, you find a set of spare keys identical to those Klarkosh was carrying. Third, you find a locked coffer on the desk that Frizz soon unlocks.
Inside the coffer you find a small trove of gold and platinum coins, five small emeralds, a Spire Transport Token, an intricately cut gemstone of unknown type and a potion bottle neatly labeled "Invisibility".
13 pp, 20 gp, five emeralds worth 10 gp each.
Jharun of Thornkeep |
Jharun will get a warm bath after heating water and eat some more and clean his clothing and gear oiling what needs it and tending to all the gear. Jharun will also speak to Perfire and see if he would care to swap any spells while they rest.
Frizz Doctrina |
"Whoa cool!" Frizz exclaims as she looks over all the cool loot she finds.
"If I drink this here potion, I can sneak up on ANYONE!" she ponders aloud and dances about.
She examines the Spire Token for Azlanti writing.
Frizz speaks Azlant.
