Wymond Dwerryhouse
"Let's go, then. Which door was the Church again?"
When Wymond gets his answer, he approaches the door indicated and begins pushing it open...or pulling if it's that kind of a door.
Lilika
Lilika backs up along with the others, heading off to the church doors. She goes to the doors she was originally going to open, then gestures for Wymond to open the others.
I moved myself to the doors I mean, and placed Wymond in front of the second set. Is that alright, Wymond?
When everyone is in position, Lilika opens her door at the same time as Wymond opens his.
Perfire Ridal
Perfire falls in behind Wymond, he reaches out and touches his friend's arm and imbues Wymond with a small amount of the halfling's power. 'I'm with you.' He say encouragingly.
resistance on Wymond, +1 to all saves for 1 minute.

It is exactly alright! Thank you!

resistance on Wymond, +1 to all saves for 1 minute.
Wymond smiles.
"Ye always are, friend. Thank ye kindly."
Triath bows his head in appreciation.
GM Tarondor
The chapel is empty of worshipers. It seems they must have withdrawn deeper into their fortress.
Rows of pews and a stone altar on a low dais show that this room is a shrine. A large statue of a mysterious, hooded figure stands solemn vigil at the east end. Paintings on the walls depict a gray hooded man in a variety of exploits and triumphs, culminating in his ascension to godhood, when he begins aiding lesser thieves.
Perfire Ridal
'Who do you figure that's supposed to be?' Perfire asks, taking a moment to study one of the paintings.
Lilika
Who dat? :-p
If you look at it and squint it could be Wymond after some weight-loss and a makeover. Does he happen to have an attractive younger brother?
Lilika ignores the paintings, scouring the room for hidden people, instead...
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
If she sees none she spares a moment to glance at the art. "No idea. Wait..." She stops and stares at it, really hard, for a while. Then she shakes her head. "No. Not even a little familiar. Whoever they are, I didn't worship them."
"We have other matters to attend to."
Wymond Dwerryhouse
Who dat? :-p
My Dead Suns character who happens to have a name beginning with A that puts him right by Wymond's position on the list of aliases on my have. >_<
Wymond Dwerryhouse
Triath Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Triath trots up to the painting and looks at it, before turning back to the group and begins scratching in the dust with one of his trotters, writing out "Norgorber" on the floor, in surprisingly elegant script.
Wymond reads it and nods.
"Triath says it's an icon of Norgorber, the thief-god. Sounds like the kind of god bandits would build a church to. Blasphemous te Erastil, as thievery tears families an' communities apart. Ye okay with me destroyin' this when we're through here?"
Lilika
"Never heard of him," Lilika remarks.
Go for it, Wymond.
Perfire Ridal
'No issue here' Perfire adds with an air of distaste.
Colcille Russidhe
"No problems for me, but lemme search for shinies before you go for ire and fire. Now, my valiant knight, would thou open the passage eastward of here? There be evildoers in need of a smiting hand." says Colcille with a wink and a smile.
Lilika
Lilika gets in position behind the others by the door Colcille indicated.
Wymond Dwerryhouse
"No problems for me, but lemme search for shinies before you go for ire and fire. Now, my valiant knight, would thou open the passage eastward of here? There be evildoers in need of a smiting hand." says Colcille with a wink and a smile.
"Ye got it, fair maiden!" Wymond replies with a smirk of his own, going over and opening up the door Colcille indicated, while Triath takes cover back by Perfire.
Lilika
I don't think Wymond moved his character. I think he's supposed to be where Perfire is? And Perfire where he is?
Wymond Dwerryhouse
I haven't moved. I'm confused as to which door Colcille wanted me to open.
GM Tarondor
Well, we're goin' east!
Wymond moves to and opens the eastern door. A finely woven rug with a subtle tan and moorit pattern covers the floor of this bedroom. A garderobe enclosed by a wall is in the northeast corner, and to the west of it stands a large wardrobe.
Definition: Garderobe: 1)a lavatory in a medieval building. 2) a wardrobe or small storeroom in a medieval building.
Definition: Moorit: adjective. Shetland, Scottish, Orkney. Of Shetland sheep or their wool: of a mid-brown colour, between fawn and dark brown. Of a garment, etc.: made of moorit wool.
Yeah, the author (Michael Stackpole) is showing off...
Perfire Ridal
Since a wardrobe is specifically mentioned is it safe to assume this is of the lavatorial variety?
Perfire Ridal
I have prestidigitation to deal with my 'messes' but my less magicky friends might have need!
Wymond Dwerryhouse
I learned a new word today (I already knew what a garderobe was because I had a medievalist phase in elementary school and spent hours playing educational games about castles)! :P
"Tha's a really nice rug. It really ties the room together!" Wymond says. "I think once we're done 'ere I might take it with us...It'd make a nice gift fer my brother an' my sister-in-law!"
He moves over and takes a look in the wardrobe.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Lilika
@ Wymond: Hahaha!
Lilika regards the rug. "I suppose..."
She helps take a look around with Wymond.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
Lilika
Definitely the Big Lebowski. I thought so hard to see if Lilika could work in a quote in response, but she's way too straight-laced. I couldn't do it. Haha. Although I strongly contemplated remarking that the rug smelled like urine...
Lilika opens the secret panel and peeks inside!
GM Tarondor
The panel slides aside to reveal a whole room. This secret room is filled, floor to ceiling, with shelves and pigeonholes. The air holds the dusty aroma of ancient parchment.
However, of more immediate interest the ticking monster of brass and steel that lunges out of the darkness at her! Man-sized, with three legs and four arms, it reaches for her with powerful pincers.

'It's a very nice rug.' Perfire says, admiring the craftsmanship. He starts at the sound of metal clanging from the privy and moves to investigate.
'Oh!' He exclaims, seeing the metallic man attempting to claw his companion. Almost formed by his words, a salvo of missiles erupt from his hands and streak towards the automaton.
magic missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 2) + 2 = 5

Perfire's eldritch darts slice into the clockwork's machinery with a nasty tearing sound. The mechanical guardian launches a net at Lilika, grabbing her.

"What the blazes?!" Wymond cries as a fight unexpectedly breaks out in the garderobe. He tromps over and stabs his bardiche forward at the monster binding Lilika.
Ah, the benefits of a reach weapon!
Masterwork Bardiche: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 201d10 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
"LET'ER GO!"
Lilika
Since it's a clockwork, can she learn anything about these with a knowledge (engineering) check? If she does, she'll call it out to the group.
Knowledge Engineering: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Tangled in the net and unable to flee, Lilika drops her sling, pulls out her dagger, and tries to drive it into the metal figure!

Piercing Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Note: Due to being entangled, her current AC is 14, T 10, FF 14
Colcille Russidhe
I'm back! Just in time to hit something, it seems.
Startled by the appearance of a non-human creature, Colcille lets loose far too soon, before getting a bead on her target.
Attack, Bullseye Shot: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 4 = 11
Or not.
Perfire Ridal
Perfire reaches within himself again for the power that launched the last salvo of missiles and looses another round.
Magic Missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 2 = 9
GM Tarondor
Lilika, you just don't know enough about these constructs to be certain about them.
Wymond's powerful attack slams into the doorpost, while Colcille's shot rings off the flagstones. But Lilika rams her dagger home into the creature's gears just as Perfire riddles it with force missiles.
As you watch, small parts of the monster are repairing themselves before your eyes! Using one of its claws, the creature backhands Lilika, slamming her head into the wall!

Colcille Russidhe
The situation is hardly optimal for Colcille, from a tactical standpoint. Although she is protected from the enemy, her friends are in the way of her arrows and there is no easy way to circle the enemy. She sends an arrow that, while more accurate than the previous, is still inaccurate.
"See if you can pull it forward, I can't get a good shot."
Attack, Bullseye Shot: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 4 = 16 Target in cover, so AC +4.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 2 = 5
Piercing Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
But her dagger strikes metal, jarring her wrist painfully.
Perfire Ridal
Perfire clambers up onto the bed behind himself for a better vantage point and reaches for the familiar wellspring of arcane energy inside himself, sending more missiles toward the machine.
Magic Missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2) + 2 = 6
GM Tarondor
Wymond's polearm slices over Lilika's shoulder and rams into the metal monster's head, rocking it back. Colcille's arrow slams into the doorframe. Lilika's dagger scraches off the monster's carapace while Perfire's accurate missiles slice into the machine's interior.
The clockwork is smoking and clanking. It then pulls Lilika in front of it as a shield and stands still while pieces of it rapidly move and reassemble in a remarkable flurry of self-repair!

Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 4 - 2 = 9

...then she launches herself backward -- nowhere near as gracefully as Colcille -- and tries to get back behind Wymond without getting clobbered.

But her movements are clumsy, ears still ringing, and nothing seems to go her way.
