Frizz Doctrina |
Do I eat too much... Frizz thinks to herself a moment before blurting out.
"That was the coolest thing I've ever see anyone ever do EVER."
"Both of those things are way too heavy. I could never backflip holding that pole and wearing that soup pan!"
Frizz Doctrina |
"Welp. I'm not carrying this heavy stuff. Wymmie, ya wanna grab it? Unless Lili wants to use her magic bag?" Frizz suggests as she skips out of the room.
Frizz starts moseying down the hallway to inspect the next door.
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Wymond begins packing up the gear they've discovered, before joining Frizz at the next door, waiting for the others to join them before pushing the door open.
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Would Wymond hear that whispering? Just don't wanna interject if it wouldn't be appropriate.
GM Tarondor |
Wymond opens the door.
Chains dangle from four iron rings set into the stone of this room’s eastern wall, and small knives and hooks hang from pegs nearby. Blood stains the floor beneath the chains. There are four doors to the north and four more to the south, each with a small, barred window.
Guarding this jail are two huge and muscled serpent-folk bearing scimitars. Their small and beady eyes focus on you as on new meat and they stop abusing their lone prisoner, turning to face you.

Tail v. Wymond: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 271d6 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
The brute rushes forward, slices at Wymond with its scimitar, then slams him with its tail. The paladin slumps to the floor, bleeding out!
I've moved Wymond to the top of the initiative because he's dying.
1. Stride, 2. Strike, 3. Strike
Scimitar v. Frizz: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 331d6 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Tail v. Frizz: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 111d6 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Striding over the fallen body of the paladin, the second degenerate serpent-man slashes Frizz across the neck, leaving her badly bleeding!

Frizz Doctrina |
Frizz dives through the legs of the muscley serpent folk.
Acrobatics to Tumble Through vs Reflex (E): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32
I'll take that as a success.
And attempts to sink her sickle into its thigh.

Sickle (S+Acid) Damage: 1d4 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 4 + (3) = 8
Sneak Attack: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10
Holy smokes!
As the blade sinks into the soft flesh of the inner thigh, Frizz twists her sickle and stirs like it's a spoon.
Tumble Through, Strike, Twist the Knife (Persistent Bleed 2)
Lilika |
Seeing Wymond fall unconscious again, Lilika seriously wonders how her "companions" have survived without her.
Lilika slips past Jharun and Triath, places a hand on Wymond's shoulder, and activates her healer's gloves.
Healing Wymond: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 5) + 7 = 13
Then she raises her shield to defend herself.
Stride (1A), activate healer's gloves (1A), raise shield (1A). Current AC is 26. If she gets hit despite her shield, she'll Shield Block as a reaction (shield stats always in my stats line, but: hardness 3, HP 12)
GM Tarondor |
Frizz slices the serpent-man across the legs and leaves it bleeding. Lilika heals Wymond, bringing him back to consciousness.

Wymond comes to and grumbles "Thank ye...this is gettin' to be a bad habit."
Jharun of Thornkeep |
Jharun casts acid arrow on the wounded creature
attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
damage: 3d8 ⇒ (3, 8, 1) = 12
Rebecca will aid the attack by moving up and kicking the creature and moving back
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Wymond, now aware of his surroundings, grabs his bardiche and tries to crawl south behind Frizz so the snake-man doesn't shank him again.
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Not gonna risk that. Just going to displace.
Wymond, seeing he can't get to his bardiche without drawing attention, creeps away.
GM Tarondor |
Jharun hurls a bolt of magical acid at the serpent-man, but the wily creature twists out of the way at the last second and the bolt sizzles and pops as it burns the far wall of the corridor.
The two big serpent-men attack, each lashing out at both Frizz and Lilika in a frenzy of battle.
They have an ability called Slithering Attack, where they can make two attacks without MAP, so long as each is against a different person. It’s one action, so they can do it three times, which is probably broken, to be honest.
Red and Orange: 1. Slithering Attack, 2. Knockdown (if tail hit, otherwise, Slithering Attack), 3. Slithering Attack.
RED Fangs v. Lilika, w/ cover: 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 13 - 2 = 271d8 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 plus poison. - Hit.

RED Fangs v. Frizz, w/ cover: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 8 - 2 = 191d6 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 plus poison. - Miss.
RED Tail v. Lilika, w/ cover: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 9 - 2 = 271d6 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 Critical hit.
Knockdown to Lilika. She is Prone.

Frizz and Lilika: Give me DC 22 Fortitude saves vs. poison.
ORANGE took his persistent bleed. Roll to end Pers. Bleed (DC15): 1d20 ⇒ 10 Continues.
I have a very bad feeling about this... Probably should have healed up first.
Everyone, go! Don't forget your hero points.
Frizz Doctrina |
Fortitude: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24 Phew...
Frizz grits her teeth and slashes out with her sickle.
+1 Sickle (1): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27
Sickle (S+Acid) Damage: 1d4 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 4 + (6) = 14
Sneak Attack: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
If these things have AoO's, I'm not sure anything but attacking would be useful here. :/
Frizz continues lashing out at the Orange serpentfolk from her back.
+1 Sickle (2): 1d20 + 15 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 15 - 4 = 28

Lilika |
Lilika's shield is now destroyed completely by that shield block.
Fortitude vs. Poison: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 11 + 1 = 15 I'm going to use her last hero point to reroll that.
Fortitude vs. Poison: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 11 + 1 = 14
...Of course.
Lilika, who is flat on her back, has nowhere to move to, and is beginning to feel decidedly ill, begins to deeply regret her life choices.
Well, here's hoping Jharun's spell works, cause there's nothing Lilika can do that won't provoke from both serpent folk if they've got AoOs.
Lilika attempts to cast a spell!
Provoking from both (if applicable) due to her Manipulate action (somatic spell component to cast Scatter Scree)
If she's not damaged by either of them: both serpent folk are bludgeoned by rocks, are in difficult terrain, have a DC 22 basic Reflex save
Bludgeoning Damage: 3d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 4, 4) + 4 = 13
If she's damaged the spell is interrupted and actions wasted.
Lilika draws her dagger.
An Interact action, which also provokes due to the manipulate trait.
Casting Scatter Scree (2A), Interact (1A)
GM Tarondor |
Jharun will use the ten foot burst and cast hypnotic pattern on the two serpents DC 22 and fascinated, crit fail unable to use reactions
When you use a spell, please link to the spell. I don't have all the spells memorized. And it's -really- important to list what -kind- of save it is.
GM Tarondor |
Frizz slices her sickle across the great artery in the leg of the degenerate serpent-man. He gasps and drops to the ground, laying in a widening pool of blood. Unhesitatingly, the little gnome slashes the other serpent-man twice in succession, leaving him bloody.
Jharun thrusts forth his hands, signing an eldritch rune upon the air and lo! A blast of multi-hued light bathes the remaining serpent-man.
Serpentfolk Will save (DC 22): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 Failure! The Serpent-man is Dazzled and Fascinated.
Lilika, the serpent-man is still capable of Attacks of Opportunity. Given how the fight has suddenly changed, do you want to do something different?
Wymond: The spot where your token is was not a legal spot into which to displace. You had to displace to the closest possible spot, which is either north or south of the current location of RED. Please move your token there, roll a DC 22 Will save against Hypnotic Pattern, and then decide if you want to take an action.
Lilika |
Since he's fascinated, Lilika will instead stand up, Stride away down the hall, and pull out of a potion. If he disrupts her stand action with a successful attack of opportunity, she'll instead, stand (failing), stand, stride.
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Will Save: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
Bedazzled by Jharun's spell, Wymond makes the only decision he can: get the Hell out of there. Even as the pattern holds his focus, he tries to crawl past the serpent man and out the door.
I can still do that even with the conditions the spell imposed, right?
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Now out of immediate danger Wymond gets to his feet and goes over to grab Frizz.
"Comeoncomeoncomeon!!!"
Beat hasty retreat, everyone?
Frizz Doctrina |
Frizz completely turns her back on the serpent folk to talk to Wymond.
"Wymmie, are you kidding me? Would Ol' Deadeye retreat from a bear that's out numbered and out matched?" She says. "Would you please lay them sweaty bear paws on me for some of Erastil's grace so I can finish dicing up these oversized salamanders? I found a good spot to knick an artery."
There's only one left and I'm curious where we stand with magical heals before we kick rocks. We've got about a round to recoupe if we have the ability. Happy to have Wymond thematically drag Frizz away, using my turn to move with the group.
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Wymond's jaw drops.
"Frizz! Those things nearly killed me! Again!"
He grabs one of the potions from his pack and downs it.
Healing Potion (Lesser): 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (1, 3) + 5 = 9
Frizz Doctrina |
So we're not running? Lilika? Jharun? Rebecca, lol?
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Wymond gives a grumpy sigh.
"Alright, let's finish off this ar$e."
He tromps into the room and looks for where he dropped his bardiche.
Since I decided against retrieving it and provoking an AoO.
Frizz Doctrina |
"Alright, hurry! Before the spell wears off. Get on every side of him and them I'll count to three and we WHACK!" Frizz suggests to the group.
Not sure how to GM wants to rule this, but I'd like all of us to attack at once after we surround the creature. I would imagine a series of readied actions should suffice? Then drop into initiative again?
+1 Sickle (1): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24
Sickle (S+Acid) Damage: 1d4 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 4 + (2) = 8
Sneak Attack: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3
Lilika |
Lilika quickly drinks her potion...
Healing Lilika: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (3, 1) + 5 = 9
Then pulls out and drinks another one.
Healing Lilika: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (3, 5) + 5 = 13
She's at 46/74 and can get back into the fight now.
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Bardiche in hand once again, Wymond tromps up to the enemy, waits for the signal, and attacks!
Readied Attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 222d10 + 4 ⇒ (9, 8) + 4 = 21
Frizz Doctrina |
Rolled in the spoiler above
Lilika |
Lilika readies an action to stab with her magic dagger.
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Piercing Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 10 damage on a critical hit.
GM Tarondor |
Wymond, Frizz and Lilika all time their attacks to coincide and each hit the distracted serpent-man, cutting, slashing and stabbing. Injured and freed from the hypnotic pattern, it now attacks, dropping Lilika to the ground and biting Frizz hard enough to drop him, too.

2. Knockdown v. Lilika
3. Slithering Attack (3 attacks)
