Aeilin's final cry seems enough to shake up the demon... then promptly falls unconscious and starts to bleed out. Aeilin, not the demon Dakang.
Now really shaken, Dakang casts a spell again, unleashing more negative energy everywhere! But mostly at that infernal tiefling!
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 DC 16 Will save for half
Party up!

![]() |

Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Henrick screams and falls unconscious.

![]() |

Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 "HA" Once again the Gnome laughs as the energy washes over her.
"Keep em coming! We ain't afraid of you."
Intimidate, Already Tried: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 vs DC 10 + 5 + 1/2 HD + Dakang's Wis. Dakang is smaller now that the Vermlek is out, so I'm not taking that into account.
Acel looks around and notices her fallen allies. "Well, most of us ain't afraid of you. Like my buddies over there."
Acel directs her illusory soldiers to drop their holy longswords, pull bows and start firing. Hopefully this will force Dakang off the ceiling so Insidion can tear it apart.

Vermleks are medium sized demons. The -4 penalty applies. Also, I do count illusions interacting with others as interacting.
Will save vs illusion: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Dakang recoils as the aasimar illusions fire their spectral arrows, but quickly realizes that they are no threat since they do not even exist. Which would make sense as to why the spells he cast had no effect on them...
Shungur begins casting sleep.
Stabilization roll for Aeilin and Henrick. Insidion and Vanya up!

![]() |

Insidion sneers at the demon on the ceiling.
"You keep casting that spell...but it just makes the voices in my head more excited!" the tiefling yells as he sends even more balls of force at the enemy, hoping to disrupt the spell casting.
magic missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1) + 2 = 6
fort save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Can we tell how damaged this guy is?

![]() |

Well... this is turning into a bloodbath... better see what those Aasimar have to say about a the giant demon worm hanging on the ceiling...
Will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Feeling herself going weak in the knees Vanya decides discretion to be the better part of valor and runs for the door and excapes, uncertain about what to do next but sure about the risk of fighting the creature where they cannot properly reach it:"Get out, damn you! We can't fight it if it stays out of reach but it can hit us!"
"We've got to spread out... and let's hope no one else is in league with the demon. Otherwise we are as good as dead!"
Vanya down to 2 hps, she withdraws out of the room

![]() |

Was just checking. Truly thought I one of you closed the door. Guess not. Run, Vanya, run!
Stabilization rolls for Henrick (-4) and Aeilin (-8). Due to the nature of this roll, I feel uncomfortable doing it for them.

Fort/Stabilize: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

![]() |

Con check, Aeilin. 16+1-8=9, failed save. Unless you happen to have a bonus to stabilization checks somewhere? =\

![]() |

any chance I could add a move action to leave the room before that sleep spell goes off? Since I'm the only one hurting it, if I go down this could turn into a tpk

![]() |

I don't see why not.
Oh, and I just looked at Pathfinder Unchained. So to answer your question, on a scale* of Maximum (100-76% hp), Grazed (75-51% hp), Wounded (50-26% hp), Critical (25-0% hp), and Disabled (negative hp), he is flopping between Wounded and Critical, currently the latter after your last magic missile.
* I really like the idea of the wound thresholds, but am not applying the penalties given in Unchained since they ain't PFS legal. But it's a good descriptor for health status without making a check.

![]() |

Yeah, Insidion's our only hope here. He's the only one who can penetrate this thing's DR from range. Acel can try to stabilize (only +1 Heal) or wake Insidion if he falls asleep.
Vanya, can you ask those Aasimar if they can help with this demon infestation?

![]() |

I'd hardly call one demon an infestation. Well, okay, so there was a second one previously, but still. Two?
Stabilization check from Henrick needed to move on.

![]() |

Stabalize vs DC 10: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 2 - 4 = 13
Whew!

![]() |

Dakang looks at the two fallen Pathfinders with glee. He scurries across the ceiling and down the wall until he is standing right over Aeilin's bleeding form. Then, with an evil grin, he dives straight into the ground and burrows away from the fight.
Out of combat!
Having successfully(?) driven off the demon scourge of this place, you have cleansed the taint of the Temple. With some time, you may even be able to undo the damage Dakang did to his followers' beliefs and bring them back to the guiding grace of Korada. During this time, the followers at the temple invite you to stay as long as you wish to rest and recover.
Your mission for the Pathfinder Society is completed, and then some!
Feel free to post Day job rolls and PFS##-#'s either here or in the discussion thread.
Congratulations on finishing the Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment. I will get chronicles out as soon as I have all necessary information from everyone! =)

First: no healing of any kind for Aeilin? If someone has it let's try to save her. Vanya has a wand of CLW but can't use it reliably.
As for Acel's request, I'll do that but... are we sure they are not on its side?

![]() |

Con check, Aeilin. 16+1-8=9, failed save. Unless you happen to have a bonus to stabilization checks somewhere? =\
Whoops. Actually, I do - Heart of the Wilderness. 16+1+5-8=14
Vanya, Aeilín has a wand of CLW on her.

![]() |

Insidion relaxes visibly as the demon disappears.
"Coward!" he spits after it. "Though I told him I could cast spells at him all day, that was a lie...I only had one left!"
That was a tough encounter!!! Everyone go buy some silver/cold iron arrows or a potion of fly, stat! :) I have some characters of my own that would have struggled there, too. I need to cover those DR bases better. Great run, guys. Glad we didn't end up with dead there!

![]() |

Henrick has a wand of CLW as well, but can't use it. But even if you are unreliable, I think you can just keep trying, right? I am thinking that since the scenario is over, though, that the offer to rest and recuperate includes everyone healing up. Riught?

![]() |

Yes, until you roll a natural 1 on the UMD check, at which point the wand does not respond to you for 24 hours.

![]() |

Phew! Awesome run, guys. Shungur is a Shaman, so he can reliably use the Wand of Cure Light Wounds. And they stabilized, anyway.
Acel looks over Henrick and Aeilín's body to check for mortal wounds.
Heal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Um...
Heal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 She's bleeding, yeah?
Heal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 Oh! Found it!
By now, Shungur has already applied First Aid and simply shrugs at her feeble attempts. "Yeah, yeah. Mom said she I should've gone into medicine, but theater was too attractive."
With her Silent Image still up, Acel shows the members of the temple her play of the heroic Pathfinders versus the evil Dakang and his Gnomish henchman. Acel's hat is huge, taller than Insidion. Naturally the epic battle against Dakang is much more epic, with everyone leaving their mark at Dakang before he runs away like a coward. The Pathfinders give themselves a jumping high-five and her play pauses in midair as the credits roll.

![]() |

"Don't You Forget About Me" starts playing throughout the temple as the credits roll.

![]() |

Ha ha! Thanks all - great game! And almost very very bad....

![]() |

If it makes ya feel any better, when I played it, we ran from Dakang with our tails twixt our legs. It was a horrible experience. Running it, and running it with the players routing Dakang? Makes up for it!

Indeed. The fountain would have filled with water which would bless any weapon dipped in it to make it good aligned, thus bypassing DR. A nice little bone for lvl 1's who could make it work. Sadly, it was only easier for aasimars (no longer legal) and celestial bloodline sorcerers (you see any of those at the tables? I think not). Otherwise the UMD DC was rather high for a low-level scenario. *shrug*

Well I think our main problem was not having any dedicated healer. A cleric or an oracle and we would have gutted the worm... Not having reach weapons didn't help either of course. We could have tried enlarge person on Insidion though, with reach he could have kille dit imo

![]() |

The fountain! Yah, should have figured there was a purpose for that... I was thinking it was a trap!
Still, I have learned that I need all my characters to have at least 1 acid, alchemist fire, and a holy water. They are just cheap and easy way to have something in your back pocket. I just had another party running away from spiders because none of us could do anything to a swarm!

![]() |

I had a 5th or 6th lvl dervish dancer bard nearly die when the party met up against a wraith. I had neglected to buy any magic weapons to do ANY damage and none of my spells helped. The downside to having a GM baby enter play at that point. Totally forgot to equip him properly...

As for Vanya's rebuilt according to Pathfinder Unchained rules:
Up to this point Vanya had aquired 3288 gp (506+520+515+1237+510) and never spent any of her PP.
With the rebuilt I'd like to spend 2 PP to aquire the wand of clw I previously bought (1 spent charge, 49 left), and then:2 MW Kukris (616 gp), 1 MW Suit of chain-shirt armor (250 gp), 1 short bow (30 gp), 1 rapier (20 gp), 1 Rogue kit (50 gp) and 60 arrows (3 gp) for a total expense of 969 gp. I'll also purchase a standard wayfinder for 500 gps, going up to 1469 gp. This should leave me with 1819 gp total before adding the money from this last chronicle. I will consider other purchases later (possibly a ring of protection or a cloak of resistance and a +1 enchantment for Vanya's armor).
Here'sVanya's new character sheet, please let me know if something is missing
