"I'm not looking for a fight here, but these are not any of your possessions. They are the Archbishop's and they'll be going back to him. If you lower the weapons. I'll tell him that you all were good boys and girls."
Breeze hesitates a second to see if any of her team objects. If she hears no objections after six seconds, she will slowly grab the items.
Wanting to give the team a chance to stop Breeze if they want.

Aevelyn BlackHair |

Aevelyn glances at each of the deputies, fixing their details in her mind, before raising her hand up to wave off the catfolk. "No. Let these deputies have the privilege of guarding the badges of office for the new Sheriff. I trust you will keep these items secured?"
I am not willing to provoke any violence here, seeing as we only have one melee character with us. Aevelyn would much rather return here with reinforcements and CRUSH these puny rebels :D

Shiloh Darrow |

Mean website apparently ate my post.
Nodding, "Well with that settled then we should be going. We are leaving those items in these fine deputies hands and we will let the Archbishop know that they refused to let us take those items back. The new sheriff will just have to collect them here. Hopefully the new sheriff does not mind."
Shiloh would turn to leave at that point.

Breezelee "Breeze" Krolmnite |

Breeze listens to the others. She was entirely angry by the whole day, but she couldn't see getting into a brawl with the remaining town security would look good on her. She growled a low sound, but backed her hand away from the Sheriff items. "Let's get out of here, then!"

![]() |

The deputies appear rather incensed by this situation, and they look ready to start a fight. If you try to leave, two of the deputies loom threateningly by the exit. If someone wants to try to defuse the situation, you can try Diplomacy or Intimidate. Alternatively, you may just say to heck with it and try to clobber them.

Shiloh Darrow |

diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Stopping short and looking around at the deputies. Tying to keep her voice as calm as possible while addressing them, "I do not think you want to do this. Shooting the messenger will not go well for you. Let us leave, please."

Breezelee "Breeze" Krolmnite |

Breeze would normally try to help diffuse the situation, but she was mad form the day, and still smelled like chili. With that being said, she didn't want to pick a fight for no reason, so she stood there silently. If a fight broke out, she was ready. She was waiting for a reaction, claws ready to pop out at any possibility of violence.

![]() |

Shiloh's diplomacy is easily high enough, and she artfully defuses the situation as much as it can be defused. The deputies abstain from attacking you and stand down, but they are still so frustrated that one of them tears off his own vest of office, and throws it on the ground, with its associated symbol of Cheliax. Unless stopped, the deputy storms out the door in a huff. In rapid succession, the other three deputies join the demonstration, divesting themselves of the items of office and resigning their posts. "We're done! We've had enough of this nonsense!" They will all file out, now as civilians, and leave the jail to you, unless someone intercedes.

Aevelyn BlackHair |

"Hold, good men." Aevelyn's voice echoes in the small building. "You would leave the town Longacre without any semblance of order just to satisfy your own hurt feelings? I beg of you, please...PLEASE wait until the new Sheriff is appointed. We are going through a...transition period and we need you to stand as bastions of law and order during these uncertain times."

The men and women who were formerly the deputies of Longacre -- some of them glance over their shoulder at Aevelyn. One of the four stops walking for a moment, the other three don't. Then the fourth resumes as well. They keep walking away. Apparently, if a load of manure was dumped in their lap, they are content enough -- or at least incensed enough -- to leave it in someone else's lap without much regard for the consequences.

Breezelee "Breeze" Krolmnite |

"Let them go," Breeze grumbled as she picked up all the vests, badges, and that sword. "Let's take these to to Archbaron. I'm sure he has someone in mind already."

Shiloh Darrow |

"That did not go well." Sighing and moving to help Breeze collect everything so that they can leave.

Nysene Ratarion |
"Damn...well, if the Archbaron didn't already have a few replacements in mind then he'd better find some quick," Nysene mutters with a shake of her head. "Stubborn as mules, the whole lot of them..." she continues to grumble as she helps the others gather up the badges of office as well as close and lock the building up for the time being.

Aevelyn BlackHair |

Aevelyn nods in agreement with Nysene. "Yes, they are quite stubborn... as most men are. They also show a distinct lack of dedication to their country!" Her voice tinged with anger. "We had better get moving. I suspect those former deputies will cause us no end of trouble if we cannot secure their replacements!"

Shiloh Darrow |

That was the last stop right? Then we need to head back and let the boss know what has happened. And I do believe we had some complaints to share.

Check! Working on that post now, then!
Total XP score from your little jaunt around Longacre:
Award the PCs 600 XP for closing the Castle Gate and posting the archbaron’s decree.
Award the PCs 600 XP for posting the archbaron’s decree at The Last Stand. Award them an additional 200 XP if they do so without accruing any Rebellion Points.
If the PCs post the archbaron’s decree at the jail, relieve Sheriff Staelish of duty, and face down the deputies without fighting, award them XP as if they had defeated the deputies in combat.
Award the PCs 1,200 XP for posting all of the archbaron’s decrees, relieving Sheriff Staelish of duty, and reporting back to Razelago.
The party gains a total of 4000XP and avoid provoking any further Rebellion Points.

You return back to the Ash House, where Razelago is once again waiting as a silhouette behind the thin screen, and the krenshar "watchdog" snoring at the side of the room.
Which one of you reports to Razelago? If none of you steps forward, then Cimri will do it.
After being told that the decrees have been posted, Razelago expresses satisfaction. "Wonderful, wonderful. I am very happy with your performance. You have now done well on all three tasks I have given you -- the tannery, the sermon at the square, and now these decrees. I believe we have established some level of, if not trust, then at least cooperation, yes? In fact, I am glad to say that I have decided to increase by half the hundred gold piece reward that we previously agreed upon. Furthermore, I would like to invite all of you, at the next breaking of dawn, to the Scarlet Crown."

Aevelyn BlackHair |

Samy: I think you may have missed the extra 200 XP for avoiding provoking the Rebellion points. Plus did we actually gain any XP for dealing with the deputies?
Diplomacy (krenshar): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Aevelyn steps forward to give the report, seeing Breeze is still fuming about the chili stains on her clothes. She did manage to sneak some information about the krenshar.
Gaurig. An appropriate name methinks.

On hearing the news of being invited to the Scarlet Crown, her heart skips a beat in excitement.
The Archbaron's personal manor? He must be extremely impressed with our performance thus far! I must take great care to look...presentable for him!

Breezelee "Breeze" Krolmnite |

"I have to tell you, here are a bunch of pissed off townsfolk right now. That innkeeper threw chili on me, the deputies quit, and so did the gate keepers. There were other complaints as well. But forget all these hicks here, we got everything accomplished, I believe!"
She excused herself to clean off after counting her gold.
So how much did we get from this haul? Does that amount of xp allow us to level?

![]() |

For those who want to go count their gold:
A chest in the Ash House’s parlor (area B1) holds several crimson pouches, one for each PC and Cimri, each containing 150 gp.
You are also free to ask Razelago any questions if you wish, before going downstairs to count your gold.

Nysene Ratarion |

Kn. Local: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Gaurig, eh? Wonder how good he is in a fight?
Nysene's eyes widen at Razelago's invitation and she lets out a low whistle. "We've done well enough the Archbaron wants to meet us? Wow...hey, do we uh...need to dress up a bit? I might have to go pick something up if that's the case."

Shiloh Darrow |

Raising any eyebrow at the Nysense's comment, This will be interesting. I wonder how well the others clean up.
Nodding along, "That is a very good question. What is the assumed manner of dress? And what would have happened if putting up the decrees had turned violent as they almost did? I as out of pure curiosity."

![]() |

To Breeze's and Shiloh's comments about the posting of the decrees, Razelago does not show any concern. "The peasants are of no concern, give them no further thought for the moment." In fact, he seems quite dismissive of any concerns regarding the townsfolk.
"As for attire, I advise considering what would be appropriate for an audience with nobility. Although considering the somewhat limited options for haute couture shopping in Longacre, I am certain that some level of laxness would be forgiven -- to a point."
Finally, Razelago adds, "I will meet you at the Scarlet Crown. I look forward to seeing you there."

Aevelyn BlackHair |

Once the group has gathered their reward and prepaed to leave the Ash House, Aevelyn speaks up. "Yes we will need to be appropriately attired for this occasion. Now I know both Shiloh and myself still have our noble gowns from when we first...arrived here, and my guard Nysene never was required to dress up, but I am certain both Breeze and Cimri do not have the required outfits. Fortunately," her eyes gleamed as she continued. "we do have some money to spend now. I am sure there is a shop somewhere in Longacre that can provide you ladies with the appropriate attire." She gives them a reassuring smile. "Do not worry, this will go smoothly. I know how best to make you both look ravishing for the Archbaron despite the lack of fine clothing stores! And it will give us an excuse to see just how well received those decrees have been to this point."

Breezelee "Breeze" Krolmnite |

Breeze wasn't sure about the fancy party, but she knew one thing, the Archbaron and his surrogate have provided her with more gold in the last week than she had ever seen. If she had to spend a chunk of gold and prance around like a fop, so long as the work kept coming, she was game. "Yes, we want to impress the Archbaron. Definitely!"

Aevelyn BlackHair |

Aevelyn wracks her brain trying to determine where to purchase some finery and, as an afterthought, a wand or two.

"I was afraid of that," Nysene sighs. "But whatever we have to do to keep on making a good impression."
Then she smirks. "Dresses or not, the three of us are gonna stick out like sore thumbs compared to you two. Maybe that's part of why we're the ones running around town, too. We stick out just a bit."

"I am sure we can find a way to make you stick out, as you put it, in a good way."

For the gowns, Aevelyn has heard from folks about:
* Gield's General Store (map #5). It's run by a pair of sisters who match the goods and skills of locals with the needs of others. It would definitely have fabrics and regular level clothes, but going fancy might be iffy.
* The Rees House (map #16). A sort of a flea market where several townsfolk have left their wares on sale.
For the wands:
* Ruckleer's Home (map #18). Tealan Ruckleer is a retired warmage who might be able to sell some magical services.
* Longacre Docks (off the map). The dockmaster, Mr. Ingoe, has a whispered reputation for being able to meet many a need...and it might be better not to know how.

Breezelee "Breeze" Krolmnite |

When the mage fills the group in on the choices, Breeze suggests they head to the docks. "Its a bit rough and tumble, but we really need a healing wand. We can worry about fancy clothes after."

Aevelyn BlackHair |

When Breeze suggests heading to the docks first Aevelyn nods slowly. "That seems a good plan Breeze, yet we dare not tarry there. From personal experience I can tell you it may take hours to find an appropriate gown!" She laughs softly as if in personal remembrance. "After we have finished I believe this Gield's General Store would suit our needs."

Shiloh Darrow |

Smiling and nodding along with Aevelyn, "Good we have a plan then. Lets go."

![]() |

Down the slope to the north of town, just a little over half a mile beyond Longacre’s border fence, a rickety gray dock juts out into the Whisper River. From a shack with a block-and-tackle crane at the dock’s far end, the dockmaster, known locally as Mr. Ingoe, oversees the coming and going of visitors and cargo to and from Longacre.
Anyone who succeeds at a DC 12 Knowledge (local) check also knows that Mr. Ingoe keeps his own version of a “dead letters” room, one of a series of shacks on the opposite bank of the Whisper that serve as his home and warehouses. Given a day to search, there’s a chance that Mr. Ingoe might produce one of any magic item that costs less than 3,000 gp. He eagerly sells such treasures at a mere 10% mark-up.
There are a couple of roustabouts, dockworkers, stevedores, longshoremen, whatever you like to call them -- harbor manual laborers -- going around moving around crates and such. There is one smallish boat tethered to the dock at the moment. Asking around for the person in charge, you will have no trouble locating "Mr. Ingoe", who invites you into the shack that serves as his office. The man smiles and idly fiddles with the toothpick at the corner of his mouth while eyeing each of you in turn with a twinkle in his eye. "And how may I help you lovely ladies today?"

Nysene simply nods in reply as Breeze explains the reason for their visit. She was largely content to let the others do the shopping and the haggling while she took care of watching for anything suspicious. By this point she was certain that they'd likely made a few potential enemies within the town and it wouldn't do to let any of them get the drop on her or the others.

"I see. A magical wand that heals, and a minimum of time spent", Ingoe narrows his eyes a little bit as he listens with an intelligent, calculating expression. He's silent for a moment, seeming like he's rummaging the library of his mind, and then nods his head slowly. "I don't off-hand recall with certainty if I have something like that, but I would be happy to rummage my wares and get back to you. Give me...24 hours?" he suggests. "If I do find such an item, the price would be...825 gold." For those of you that are aware of the pricings of such items, it has a slight 10% markup over what would be normal, but as he is one of the only options in Longacre, he feels confident in asking that. "Shall I look?" Are you willing to settle for that price and put him to work on looking for the item?

Breezelee "Breeze" Krolmnite |

Breeze nods, although waits for the others before commenting. The group had to have one, so they had to pay a bit more. He had them.

Aevelyn BlackHair |

Aevelyn's eyes narrow upon hearing the price stated by the sleazy dockmaster but knowing the group's bargaining position was a poor one she nodded in agreement. "Very well. We shall procur the payment once you have demonstrated the wand's magical capabilities to us."
I refuse to debase myself for the likes of him...and I shall indeed remember this...Mister Ingoe...
