Ok ive abandoned the mod map and found a hex map to replace it.. Directional is normal, top is north, bottom south etc.. The mountains are just large sand dunes.. It is know that somewhere ard 3417 and 3317 there is an Oasis..

Not much else is known.. Ill get yall more details tm morn and get us started.. You will entering the map at Hex 3522 in the southeast corner..

Ok a bit more info.. Each Hex is 12 miles across from corner to corner, or 95 square miles total. With the slowest speed in the group being 50' for your camels it will take 2 days per Hex to diligently search it. 1 day if your just skimming for activity etc..

Like I said before temps will be unbarely without magical aid or a ton of fort checks so might want a endure elements wand or two.. We will be adding a small X on the map for explored Hex's and you all may make notes if you wish..

Hadjii will prepare Endure Elements instead of Hydraulic Push each day, and use his two Pearls of Power to recover and cast it on Sheeba and Calla after he casts it on himself each morning. (I'm assuming Marius is taking care of himself, as he has in the past.) Thus, the wand he carries is just for backup -- and we can operate by day (instead of the usual desert travel routine of sleeping by day and traveling at night)...

The Hadj can take the form of an air elemental twice per day, for 6 hours each time. That provides up to 12 hours hours of aerial reconnaissance each day.

Sheeba will be with the party, instead of being carried around in "Carry Companion" form. She's constantly sniffing around and noticing things!

Longstrider has a range of "personal" -- we can't cast it on our camels, so I don't think it well help!

I suppose we should discuss search patterns. Some options are:
- grid sweep
-- start at southeast corner, sweep west, then up
-- a row and sweep east (or sweep north then south), etc

- edge spiral in
-- start at southeast corner, sweep west,
-- then north, then east, then south, etc

- center spiral out
-- travel to hex 3218 first, start there and spiral out;
---- must decide which hex to step out to first
---- (e.g. N, then NE --> SE --> S --> SW --> NE; then step out again)

Hadjii favors spiral out from center, although a couple of days are wasted getting to the center...

The 50' movement caps out the search time of 1 day/2 days.. Thats the fastest you can do it by the table..

He was going to buy 3K worth, which is 3 1st level spells.

However, if you're making them, he has 6K worth of pages for that same 3K gold.

So, he picked a 2nd level spell you had (4K market, 2K crafting material), and a 1st level spell you had (1K market, 500gp crafting) and kept 500gp for future use.

as the outdoor recreation specialist, Hadjii will pursue a slightly more sophisticated spiral-out search scheme than cited above -- one that doesn't waste search time traveling over hexes without searching. The next few days will entail searching hexes 3421, 3321, and 3320.


Am i to understand Hadjii is going to search the hex's by himself flying? Or are these what's being searched next?

would the "heavy snow and sleet" from Ice Storm be sufficient to block the effects of the Basilisks' gaze? Would Hadjii be able to cast the spell by looking as Sheeba -- centering the spell on her statue -- and still be considered averting his eyes?

Although Marius wasn't interested in any of the merchant's items, he'll wind up carrying he scroll of Heal and Blade Barrier as party items (doesn't come out of his individual gd share. Same with Calla carrying scroll of Teleport. Hadjii wants the scroll of Stoneskin for Sheeba -- so that comes out of his personal gold share...
