The man smiles expectantly when he sees Li Shuo ready his longbow, but a look of anger replaces his grin when he realizes the arrows are not aimed at him. Instead, they hit something on his shoulder, which falls onto the ground and reveals itself - a cat-sized, ugly winged humanoid. Immediately thereafter, Ekira, who was trying to calm the crowd until now, freezes for a moment and mutters something to herself.

If Conlaoch wants to take his delayed action, he may do so now.

The winged creature looks around, centering its gaze on Li Shuo. It then rises into the air and starts quickly flying northward, away from you.

"Well, it was fun while it lasted, Dalton. Good luck against those Pathfinders!"

Dalton growls at the creature, but forces an artificially satisfied expression nonetheless. "With Tovril, that sucker, out, it's just me and you Pathfinders!", he says as he steps to the corner and attacks Rotting Jack again, leaving another shallow cut.

Not Conlaoch's turn yet, but just wanted to let GM know about one of his skills that is likely to come into play here.

Crowd Control (Ex):
At 1st level, an urban barbarian gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls and a +1 dodge bonus to AC when adjacent to two or more enemies. In addition, her movement is not impeded by crowds, and she gains a bonus equal to 1/2 her barbarian level on Intimidate checks to influence crowds. This ability replaces fast movement.

Correct; this means you'll be able to move through the crowd at full speed. In fact, on your turn you asked to attack Tovril, but he wasn't there, meaning you didn't take any actions on you turn. Would you like to rectify that?

Ansha rests her hand upon the murderer's arm, trying to charm him, but Dalton's mind is too resistant to her effects. However, sensing that he is cornered and will not be freed until he talks, Dalton speaks up.

"Okay, I'll tell you what's going on. My name's Dalton Krunne. I enjoy committing murders, and I did so until I got locked up in Cheliax. A bit later that fly you saw here, Tovril, freed me and offered to help me. He's a cleric of Shax who's a demon lord or something, I can't say I care, and he suggested I do something more than simply killing. So he brought me here and decided we should mess around with that Iomedaean," he nods gratefully at a tired and furious Ekira. "So we killed some people and framed the Pathfinders; then you arrived and we tried repeating that. That's it, are you underwhelmed? Am I free to go now?"

"You are a disgusting man, and should probably be executed on the spot, but I am more inclined to return you to Cheliax for justice."

"Disgusting? One hypocrite you are. Say, how many people did you kill on your missions as a Pathfinder? Many, I'm sure. We're both killers, but the difference is you have a stuck-up "greater good" excuse for it. I'm honest with my intentions; I kill because it's fun."

Silver Crusaders (so Conlaoch) may attempt to correct Ekira’s zealous interpretation of Iomedae’s teachings. You can try to convince her that the Pathfinder Society may not have been to blame for the attack on Nerosyan using a Diplomacy check. Include a brief story or two about slaying demons, saving innocents, or other acts of good performed as part of a Pathfinder Society mission for a bonus on the check. Once that is done, we can wrap the scenario up.

If Conlaoch doesn't chime in before tomorrow morning (my time), I'll assume he doesn't attempt the faction mission and we'll finish.

With the names of your fellow Pathfinders cleared and the true culprit caught, you return to Starrise Spire in the Mendevian capital of Nerosyan with the accused Pathfinders for debriefing. Venture-Captain Jorsal of Lauterbury is delighted to find that all Pathfinders have made it safely back, even though the Sarkorian ruins they've set to find were proven to be fictional. Dalton is not returned to Cheliax; he is arrested and tried in Mendev for his crimes here, receiving a death sentence. Ekira's attitude towards the Pathfinder Society doesn't change, and she views this event as a humiliating defeat. Nevertheless, your aid in bringing justice to Dawnton and catching the true murderer earns you a commendation from Sheriff Luin.
