Captain Acacia Uriana
"Well, it's the best opportunity to hand you that little present." Captain Uriana explains while getting a nicely wrapped gift out of her pack and handing it to Abomentolor.
"As no one was desperate enough to appoint YOU as official authority in Underbridge I talked to the mayor again about a little restitution. And he agreed as I found something that you will probably like and that doesn't cost us." she says with a smirk.
Abomentolor Goblinburner
Abomentolor raises an eyebrow on that explanation. He unwraps the gift and starts to laugh. "You work hard to make me a law abiding citizen of this town don't you?"
"I'm undecided if I should put that on display here or hide it somewhere in the dark."
"Isabella, take a look at that." he calls over the cleric holding up the document.
Abomentolor Goblinburner
"Why not. To honour the good will of Captain Uriana who spared no expense to get that for me." Abomentolor raises his mug. "To our beloved city watch."
Captain Acacia Uriana
"My pants are fine I can assure you. But if you come to us the next time you find someone who tries to illegally profit from you it might be possible to solve this without you dying. Or dozens of citizens who might or might not be involved in these crimes."
Captain Uriana takes a swig from the mug. "Oh, you serve the good ale from the Fancy Reefclaw. My compliments."
Abomentolor Goblinburner
"This is a temple of Cayden Cailean. To serve bad beverages would be blasphemy." Abomentolor jokes, ignoring the part about being a lawful citizen.
Abomentolor Goblinburner
Abomentolor sits over his ale and muses for a while. Then he asks with a smirk "You sitting here with me. Who's reputation gets more damaged - yours or mine?"
Abomentolor Goblinburner
"Now that you remind me - there is still that offer to join the thieves guild. Are there benefits to that?" Abomentolor asks.
Abomentolor Goblinburner
"I thought so. I'd never join a club that takes members like me. But maybe I should found my own guild of anarchic fire loving deconstructionists." Abomentolor thinks aloud.
Abomentolor Goblinburner
"I have to eat and drink. And I don't see myself in the kitchen. While other may cook their meat rare, medium or well done I only do burnt and badly burnt." Abomentolor jokes.
Abomentolor Goblinburner
"Why? It has a big sign with my name on it and it came with a free bartender/brewer/cook. It's a multi purpose feed and promote Abomentolor enterprise. And if it works out I never have to pay for my food." Abomentolor explains. "And going for the overkill is always nice. If you can afford it."
Abomentolor Goblinburner
"As soon as you have a reservation in an appropriate hotel and a comfortable way of getting there. Besides that I'm ready to go." Abomentolor replies.
Gwenhwyfar Yongisdottir
"That's a good idea. Instead of this annoying dungeon crawling we sit in a hotel room and invite the people and monsters we'd normally scare up for an audience with us." Gwenhwyfar jokes. "Maybe I'll ask Lini if she has some magic device that would enable me to move through and see the dungeons without actually being there."
Tauriell
Meanwhile outside
_____________________
Tauriell leads Darthdy and her pet up to her room. "Welcome to my home. Take a seat." she offers taking a seat on the bed herself. "Where have you been all this time?"
Tauriell
"With Brutus someone who is responsible for him - Niamh, or Abomentolor - forgot him. I think you are old enough to take care of yourself and not get lost. Aren't you?" Tauriell asks. "What did you do on the cape the last weeks?"
Mrs. Sheila Heidmarch
Later that week
________________________
Mrs. Heidmarch contacts some people and asks around and organies everything needed to get to Kaer Maga. It takes her a few days to arrange that and get the needed ioun stone. But as she expected everything falls in place finally and she invites Gwenhwyfar and who ever wants to come along into her office.
"Welcome." she greets them and offers everyone a seat. "I managed to get everything together that you'll need to get to Kaer Maga. Eando Kline a Pathfinder that is at the moment in exile went to Kaer Maga and found a really valuable ioun stone and some other things of thassilonian origin there. So it was no big surprise that a shard shold be located there."
"The easiest way to get there is by ship up the Yondabakari River. And I secured you a passage on the Lucky Jenny, the ship of Captain Othlo Janke. It is a very fast ship that takes only about two weeks to reach Kaer Maga instead of the two month that normal donkey pulled ships need. It leaves the day after tomorrow two hours after sunrise."
"If you feel lucky you can try to use your magic to get there with the picture from the shard. But I know there is quite the risk with that."
"Finally I managed to secure a pink rhomboid ioun stone that you will need to activate the shard once you find it. Please don't use it circling around your head. It's to precious to get snatched away by some pickpocket. Also you should be careful in Kaer Maga. It is a melting pot for all people who are not welcome somewhere else in the world. Not all of them are criminals but be careful. It's no use to go there to get the shards you already have stolen." Mrs. Heidmarch explains and hands them a note with the name of the ship and the captain as well as the ioun stone.
GM Foxy
Fireday, 20th of Rova 4712AR
The ship is ready at the docks in Dockway at the given time and the captain greets his passengers. They are shown their cabins and the travel up the river starts on time. Around beacons point it goes from the sea into the river. The magical paddle wheel is capable of propelling the riverboat up the wide, sluggish river at an astonishing speed.
Everyone may put in a post with preparations taken for this travel before entering the boat.
Gwenhwyfar Yongisdottir
Gwenhwyfar stocks up on journals and food rations - just in case.
On the ship she takes some time each day to finally create the potions for Abomentolor he bought the components for weeks ago in Riddleport. Eight potions of Mage armor CL1
The rest of the time she spends on deck enjoying the sunny and still mild days of Rova. She sits there enjoying the landscape that passes along and if she finds something special she makes a drawing of that.
Tauriell
Tauriell uses the time to have her Armor and her Blade magically enchanted. Besides that she buys some fishing equipment to kill the time while travelling up the river.
On the boat she sits most of the time on deck at stern dragging some bait after the ship with a fishing rod.
Abomentolor Goblinburner
Abomentolor is bored to death. First everything that he would be interested in to purchase is far too expensive. And on the ship there is nothing to do. So he decides to have a lot of beauty sleep. He only comes out to the captain's dinners. The only other activity is when Tauriell visits him. But even then he doesn't get out of bed.
Niamh Mugin
Niamh buys different kinds of pie to make sure she won't have to eat the same sort of pie twice on their journey. She also copies some sheets of music to practise for the boat tour and wishes Leruu her farewell before she climbs onto the ship where she plays music most of the time.
GM Foxy
As the Lucky Jenny is tied to a tree at the shore at night and everyone but one of the deck hands - who keeps watch - is asleep a real loud croaking answered by more croaking is heard all over the ship. This wakes everyone in their cabins.
The deck hand shouts "Alarm! Intruders!" but then only muffled sounds from him remain.
It is five move actions to get on deck from the bed. Information is given once the first one steps out.
Initiative Jimmy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Initiative Niamh: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Initiative Darthdy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Initiative Gwenhwyfar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Initiative Tauriell: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Initiative Abomentolor: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Tauriell
Tauriell sits up in her bed and nudges Abomentolor. "Cast me invisible. I guess there are some frog asses to kick."
While she waits for Abomentolor to do so she picks up her backpack. Carefully stowed way are the goggles of night that she puts on.
Abomentolor Goblinburner
Abomentlor casts greater invisibility on Tauriell "Leave some for me too." Abomentolor says while he considers if he should drink a potion of mage armor. But instead he gets up and holds the door open for the now invisible Tauriell and casts shield instead.
