Rowan Gideon
It was definitely useful this time Vors. I'm glad to have you here. Rowan turns to Felix and the Kobolds. So where do we go from here?
Felix Sebastian Orlovsky
"From here we continue with what we started. We take this statue to their chief and we make peace with the native population. Ok boys, not sure how Viktor is going to want to do the splitting of treasure but we are going to do this my way. We are going to collect up the useable gear and valuables and we are going to start with need. Anyone need small daggers? If not we are going to supply the kobold with a small weapon shipment along with a pow and their treasured idol. See what we can get from that. Keep the book and the paper and see if we can find someone that can read it all and above all else split this coin evenly.By my calculations there is seven gold six silver and five copper per person who took part in this battle, this include Terquil who fought hard with us wouldn't you say? I am throwing my share of this into a fund with that leftover three copper and one-hundred and fifty of my own gold to help take care of group needs as they raise there ugly heads. I am not forcing anyone else to contribute, and if you don't I will not slight you out if there comes a time you have a need that we can cover."
Felix will divvy out the shares to each member as they stand looking through the gear. "I know it isn't much, but it is more than we had before and it is a start, hopefully the goodwill of the sootscale will help to make our lives easier. Terquil, I know you are not officially part of our little band but I would appreciate it if you and Nakpik would consider being your people's envoy to our people if your chief will allow it. Think on it as we get you and your trophies home. Anyone else have any questions? I will be more than happy to answer them now."
That is 7gp 6sp and 5cp to each including Terquil, and I have a party funds with 157gp 6sp and 8cp in it for discretionary needs of the party.
Dantalion
Wow Felix is a better leader than I thought. He will make peace with the Kobalds and possibly give us their allegiance should we ask of them. He is also willing to sacrifice his own coin to better the group needs. We may have gotten off on the wrong foot but he is becoming a likable person.
"And then after we deliver the goods to the Kobalds will we continue on our original quest or go back to the trading outpost to meet up with Viktor?"
Kertuffle
Terquail's hackles rise as Felix mentions Nakpik. "Nakpik! Where did you meet Nakpik! He is a fool and toadie of Tartuk. Terquail describes a situation with the kobold tribe that is vastly different then the one Nakpik painted. He says the Tartuk joined about half a year ago and any that disagree with him are cursed, including Chief Sootscale. Tartuk uses this statue to do the cursing and Chief Sootscale wishes to use the statue to remove the curse. Unfortunately Tartuk is in control of the tribe now. The Chief has not been banished, but its only a matter of time. Terquail has been banished, which is why Chief Sootscale approached him to try and steal back the idol.
Rowan Gideon
"That's not a bad idea to have a group fund for those who need a few extra coin. You can keep my share in with it." Rowan says, refusing his share. "I will keep one of the small daggers, though. They can be quite useful."
"Terquil, I'm sorry to hear this travesty occurring in your tribe. So, in your opinion, after the curse is removed, will Chief Sootscale be needing any help in removing Tartuk from the tribe?"
Rowan Gideon
Maybe not... How many kobolds are in your tribe? And how many supporters do Tartuk and Chief Sootscale have each? Why were you banished? Rowan asks curiously.
Felix Sebastian Orlovsky
Felix listens to the whole tale of woe with a sympathetic ear, splitting of a group something he was starting to understand well. At least in his case it was not full of the animosity that this tribal dispute seemed to be. Just a friendly rivalry that he could bow out of at any time.
To Dantalion's question he replies"We will return with news of our new allies, or of there demise in a civil war. hopefully they can help us out with major landmarks making our exploration easier. Besides this it will be good to see our friends again and discuss the situation. I only hope that they have met with as much success in there travels as we have in ours."
Kertuffle
Terquail replies to Rowan. "Cursed Tartuk, he wanted my cave, somehow, I don't know how, but he caused my scales to start turning green. He claimed it was proof of my corruption and I was banished. Chief Sootscale now suffers from the same ailment and it is only a matter of time before he too is banished."
He finishes his conversation as the group returns to the surface. Nakpik is still there, but only has two kobolds with him now. As he sees the group return his scaly face lights up with hope and then he spies Terquail. The two kobolds glare at each other, Terquail with his hand on his dagger, Nakpik and the two kobolds grasp their spears menacingly. Nakpik growls. "I knew it! Terquail was in league with the evil ones. Step aside humans and let us slay the treacherous thing."
Felix Sebastian Orlovsky
"Stow your blades Nakpik, Terquail aided us in destroying the mites and their insect allies. He fought bravely and at personal cost to return to your people the statue that was stolen and he deserves respect for this." Felix interposes himself between the kobolds and Terquail. "Now come, we have a long journey ahead of us to return your statue to where it belongs."
Rowan Gideon
Rowan watches the exchange between the kobolds with interest. I wonder what this curse is that's turning their scales… He is intrigued but doesn't say anything just yet. He keeps on the ready though, just in case things turn ugly.
Kertuffle
Nakpik looks warily at Terquail, but at the mention of his god's statue his face lights up. "You found it? Oh please, let me see it. Mighty Tartuk will bless you for sure. But friend Felix, Terquail is under penalty of death if he returns to our tribe. I will let Mighty Tartuk, in his wisdom decide his fate if you insist on letting him come, but his crimes are great."
At that Terquail has had enough. He shouts at Nakpik. "My crimes are nothing, and your words are lies, you worm. And I call you a coward. Fight me or Get Out of Our Way, but I go home now."
A look of rage crosses Nakpik's face, but it soon passes and lowers his spear and steps aside. "Let us be off then, but it will go poorly for you."
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
Nakpik and the two kobolds that stayed behind start to lead the way back to the Sootscale's home caves. Terquail is not objecting to their choice of route, but it is obvious that the two groups of kobolds are watching each other for signs of betrayal.
Kertuffle
It is only a couple of hours to the Sootscale Caverns even though your trail takes you through very hilly terrain. Nakpik stops and suggests that you leave your horses in a clearing at the base of a steep hill but doesn't object if you continue mounted, although he claims it isn't much further and Terquail doesn't contradict him. Soon you reach the entrance, several old buildings lie to your right and you can spy an ancient weathered sign proclaiming in Taldan to be the 'Oaktop Silver Mine'. Two kobolds loiter near the building, you recognize them as two of Nakpik's previous companions. The other three missing kobolds stand between you and the entrance to the caves and standing behind them is a colorfully dressed kobold with a raven perched on his soldier. The Raven bearer smiles, holds his arms out stretched and says.
"Welcome humans. Well done Nakpik. You have served Old Sharptooth well. By your presence, I assume the evil ones are destroyed. Humans, I am Mighty Tartuk, leader of this tribe. Do you have our holy relic?"
Have included a new link at top of page for map. If you really want to be mounted, you can have your horse but you'll need to make a DC 10 ride check (since you can take 10, this is a given unless your ride skill is negative). Nakpik and the two kobolds that have been leading you here are the three kobolds between you and the 4 kobolds that include Tartuk.
Rowan Gideon
Rowan leaves his steed to guard the other horses left at the base of the hill. Argos will follow him though as Rowan treks up the steep hill.
After reaching the top, "Good day to you, Mighty Tartuk. I beg your pardon for questioning you but I thought Chief Sootscale was the leader of this tribe? Has something happened to him?"
Vors Garess
Trusting Rowan's trust in his horse, Vors leaves his horse with the others. This time he takes his greatsword with him. He grines to Rowan as they begin walking. "Better take it with me this time," he says.
At the camp Vors inches closer to Felix and inquires: "I still don't know who to trust if any, what is your take?"
Kertuffle
Normally Linguistics can't be used untrained, but to recognize the accent as gnomish, I'll let it be used, especially since Felix specializes in talking to people. Felix recognizes the accent as being gnomish.
Mighty Tartuk sighs at Rowan's question. "Chief Sootscale did lead this wonderful tribe. But he ignored Old Sharptooth's advice and surrounded himself with those who put their needs above those of the tribe." At this he looks directly at Terquail, there is no doubt who he is talking about. "And he allowed the mites to take the holy relic. To atone, I have temporarily taken his duties onto myself. If you have the holy relic, place it several paces away from any of us. I will cast no spells if you cast no spells and you will indeed see something miraculous."
Felix Sebastian Orlovsky
Untrained use of linguistics can be used in racial bonus languages. I just assume it can be used for everyday things as in going hey that is a russian trying to speak english or hey that sounds like a orc trying to speak common when it isn't his native but wanted to check.
Something is just not right here and I can not in good conscience allow it to go on any longer.
"Ok this is just silly. Boys we must make our way to their chief. MIGHTY WARRIORS OF THE SOOTSCALE TRIBE, TARTUK IS AN IMPOSTER AND IS TRYING TO LEAD YOU WITH A FALSE GOD! I WILL BRING YOU THE WISDOM OF SHEI AND HER TEACHINGS, WITH WHICH WE DEFEATED YOUR HATED ENEMY AND BROUGHT YOU BACK THEIR LEADER! WE WILL BECOME THE DRAGONS TOGETHER, RISE UP AGAINST THE DECEIVER AND CAST OFF HIS SHACKLES! FIGHT FOR YOUR HOMES!"
"Nakpik, we do not wish to fight you but you have been decieved, join us in liberating your home. Terquail, we will save your people from this travesty. Friends, don't kill anyone if you don't have to. Swing to wound and incapacitate only unless absolutely needed."
If you want a Diplomacy check for anything 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (3) + 17 = 20 but I assume it is not enough time. Also if I need separate check for Nakpik or the unnamed kobolds or what have you. 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (16) + 17 = 33
Kertuffle
Felix's words ring loud and clear over the Sootscale Caverns. One of the kobolds near Tartuk is moved enough to start to move towards the mine opening to get the missing chief. This enrages Tartuk and he screams something in Draconic. The kobolds lower their spears and look like they are beginning to attack, Nakpik is joining in the attack. Tartuk then begins to speak in gnomish, although he speaks in cadence like he is praying.
Roll initiative, the kobolds act on Init 14 so if you roll a 14 or higher you can take a full round of actions.
Rowan Gideon
Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
"Do kobolds normally sound like that?" Rowan asks quizzically. Seeing as how they don't sound too happy right now, Rowan draws his bow and knocks an arrow but hesitates before firing. He shouts in a loud voice "SLEIP!! COME!!"
Kertuffle
Dantalion shoots an arrow at the Shaman and misses the mark although he disturbs the raven from his shoulder. Caelus flies up and takes ahold of the vial of alchemists fire from Dantalion. The shaman's raven starts flying towards the eagle. Nakpik acrobatically dodges between Dantalion and Dante. The kobold running to fetch the chieftan disappears into the cave.
Acrobatics Nakpik: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
and avoids provoking but it takes him his entire action to get behind them. The two kobolds by the building charge up and attack Rowan and Vors. All the kobolds seem dazzled by the sun.
Attack Rowan: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Attack Vors: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Confirm Vors: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Both kobolds hit and yell in triumph
damage Rowan: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
damage Vors: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
The two kobolds with Nakpik take advantage of the flank he is giving them and move up and attack Felix and Dante.
Attack Felix: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Attack Dante: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
but Felix and Dante are ready for them and avoid their blows.
The two kobolds in front of Tartuk seem to be readying to intercept any threats heading his way. Tartuk himself takes a 5' step forward, continues praying in gnomish (Terquial is mentioned) while he draws a wand. He points the wand, and says a gnomish word forcefully and two bolts of energy spring forth and unerringly strike Terquial.
Magic Missle Damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2) + 2 = 7
Stealth: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26
Everyone can act now.
Vors Garess
Vors grits his teeth in pain as the kobold's attack pierces his armour in the left shoulder. The sting causes his over head swing to deviate to the left. "Lady let your soul wander," he curses at the small creature.

@Kertuffle: How many rounds will it take for Sleip to arrive?
Felix Sebastian Orlovsky
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Terquail is too busy trying to keep himself alive to notice anything is amiss. Felix on the other hand is about as useless as tits on a boar right now as he is out of spells and has yet to get selective channel.
Terquail will stab the kobold in front of him.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
1d3 ⇒ 1
And miss fantastically. So much for awesome combat Kobold.
Kertuffle
Vors misses as the kobold leverages his spear out of his shoulder. Terquail yells at the top of his lungs in draconic for Chief Sootscale but the pain of being shot distracts him. Dante cuts the kobold in front of him down and then swings at Nakpik but Nakpik dodges backwards. Rowan's arrow bounces off some sort of force armor that surrounds Tartuk and the kobold deftly avoids Argos attack. Dantalion shoots at Tartuk

Attack Caelus: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
AOO Caelus: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Caelus takes 1 point of damage but manages to get above Tartuk but it takes his entire action. Nakpik and the kobold in front of Felix switch their attention to the dangerous fighter.
Nakpik's attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Kobold attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
As Nakpik misses he uses a rogue talent called Assault Leader to give his companion another attack.

but it misses horribly, the sun is just to bright.
the other two kobolds attack Vors and Rowan

Rowan is hit for
damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
One of the kobolds guarding Tartuk runs up to Dantalion but can't attack, the other one continues to ready to intercept any threats. Tartuk activates his wand yet again and two bolts of energy strike Terquail.
magic missle: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 3) + 2 = 6
This leaves Terquail staggered. He turns to Felix and says silently so that Tartuk cannot hear. "Friend Felix, I don't think I'm going to make it. If the Chief comes tell him I would jump on a puma to distract it if my friends were in danger. That way he'll know that you and I were friends."
Rowan Gideon
Did Argos bite the kobold attacking Rowan or did he miss last round?
Rowan drops his bow after getting struck again. Growling out, he takes a quick step behind Vors, draws his sickle, and attacks the kobold but nearly fumbles.

It is entirely possible to shield him versus mundane weapons, but the magic missles will just zip around you and hit him. As Felix steps in front of Terquail he bumps into an invisible creature. Whatever it is offers no resistance to Felix's actions, it just seems to be waiting for something.
Untrained K/Arcana for Felix: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Felix has no idea what it is.
Vors Garess
The kobold in front of Vors is grinning at the man's feeble attempt to strike him before and thus lowers his guard. The taunt brings his rage closer and roused by this Vors impales it on his large sword freezing the kobold's expressions.

He attempts to follow through with his strike, bringing the blade into the Kobold next to his intial target.
Cleave: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
But swings wide.

Argos sinks his teeth into the kobolds chest and drags him down and Sleip enter the map. Dantalion takes care of the one that runs up to him and Caelus drops the alchemists fire of Tartuk, missing but some of the flame splashes on him. Felix steps in front of Terquail and provides some cover. Vors cuts the kobold in front of him in half. Dante drops the kobold in front of him, leaving Nakpik the only kobold still engaging the heroes in melee and he looks worried now that no one is providing a flank.
He screams at Tartuk in

Nakpik avoids Dante's swing. The burst of healing energy emanates from Felix, healing both friend and foe. Tartuk seems enraged screaming in
Nakpik looks confused as to why Felix would heal the kobolds he was fighting. He lowers his spear. "We wait until Chief Sootscale gets here. No more fighting." he says while warily keeping an eye on Dante. Tartuk looks like he is continuing to fight however.
After the healing the only enemy combatants are Tartuk and his raven. Whatever the invisible creature Felix is in the hex with seems entirely stymied by Felix's presence and actually fades from existance as Tartuk moves. All the kobolds are up except for the one killed by Vors and the one in front of Felix is staggered. Terquial is not conscious.
