While Sal tries to recall if she's heard of any weakness of these strange hounds - whether from class, from a book, or from one of her companions - she hurriedly ducks into the chapel and tries firing another shot at the most-injured hound.

DM Nate |
Yeth hounds are evil outsiders (and require knowledge planes for information).
***round 1 (group B)***
The injured fiendish hound approaches Salomae with a snarl but stops shorts of her. With a snort and howl it opens its mouth and expels of cone of flames that catches both Sal and Tera.
fire: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 1) = 6 DC 16 Ref for half
The other emaciated, hairless hound fixes its glowing red eyes on Orin and advances. When it reaches the brave watchman it snaps at him with its vicious maw.
bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12, for: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1) + 6 = 12
Oliver lets two arrows fly, one of which strikes the wounded yeth hound.
Round 1, the rest of group C (Kaede, Marcus, Tera, and Zache) is up. The map should be up to date. The yeth hound in G8 is the one that's taken all the damage thus far.
Kaede Mayumi |
The baying was enough for Kaede to move into action. With swift prayer to her Lady, the Tian priestess swiftly moves to place herself between the hounds and Tera. Then she stabs at the injured hound, hoping to down it before it can do more.

stormburst: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 touch Ac
non-lethal damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Stormburst-(Sp): As a standard action, you can create a storm burst targeting any foe within 30 feet as a ranged touch attack. The storm burst deals 1d6 points of nonlethal damage + 1 point for every two cleric levels you possess. In addition, the target is buffeted by winds and rain, causing it to take a –2 penalty on attack rolls for 1 round. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

Tera Flinders |
Reflex DC 16: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Tera manages to dance out of the way of the worst of the flames, but still gets singed.

Zache Delays
Kaede's glaive grazes the injured yeth hound but fails to penetrate its leathery hide. Marcus and Tera, however, both land their attacks and the first fiend crumples to the floor. Sister Amet'Ra quietly lifts up a prayer for guidance, then moves into the profane chapel and touches Orin to deliver it.
Round 2: group A (Sal, Kaelaah, Orin, and Zache) is up. Map is up to date. The remaining yeth hound is in melee and has soft cover to anyone in the hall (so please include appropriate modifiers in your ranged attacks). Orin- she cast guidance on you, so remember to use that (if you want to).

Tera, can you keep your banner up to date so I know when I take 5 from lifelink
Kaelaah |
The fire continues to pour from Kaelaah - only now it seems a little wilder, a little less refined and controlled... and consequently, far less accurate.
Kaelaah, Fire Blast (Ranged Touch, Elemental Overflow, Point Blank, Soft Cover) vs Yeth Hound in H9: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 1 + 1 - 4 = 11 for 2d6 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4, 4) + 2 + 2 + 1 = 13 12 fire damage
Zache Kovachi |
Leaping forward as Kaelaah unleashes his next blast, Zache ducks under the flames, silhouetted against the much larger man's frame. He springs into the room, vaulting over the yeth hound and striking at the creature on his way down.
Going to spend one of my new panache points and use Derring-Do as I tumble past the beastie! Remember, if this is difficult terrain, I can ignore it with Agile Steps (just let me know, I may have missed it).
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 8 + (5) = 16
Um. Ouch.
If that's enough to beat its CMD, I'll end in G10 and stab it!
Masterwork starknife: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

If 16 *doesn't* beat its CMD, my movement will provoke an attack of opportunity and end... er, by RAW, I'm not sure if it'll be where I am now, or in H10?
DM Nate |
I don't have time right now to look up RAW on tumbling around someone, but iirc the failed arobatics check only stops your move if you try to tumble through an enemy. When you tumble around them failure just means you provoke (at least, that's how I've always done it). So, you get to G10 but you do provoke.
AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15, for: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 6 = 13

The hound snarls and snaps its wicked jaw at Orin once more.

Tera Flinders |
"A little tender, but nothing a little rest won't mend. Glad Orin, Oliver, and Sister Amet'Ra are with us. That could have gone badly with two of the curs."
Salomae Amsel |
"Yeah, it could have," Sal agrees, glancing around as if expecting more of the creatures to materialize. "Hopefully those were the only ones lurking around."
Once it's confirmed that everyone seems okay, Sal turns her attention back to the chapel itself. "Well, this place sure has seen better days..." she murmurs as she begins to look around.
Tera Flinders |
"Yeah, back when it was still a hunk of rock," Tera agrees.
Perception Any goodies about?: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
DM Nate |
Tera's search turns up very little. On top of the large stone altar are ashes and some little bits of scorched bone, but nothing of any value. The glowing kukris wielded by the statue could be removed (with a little work) but they appear to be purely decorative and enchanted merely with continual flame spells.
"This is going to be a bigger project than I expected," Sister Amet'Ra confesses as she takes in the statue and the relief carvings, and the shear size of the stone altar. Still, we should look in to the mysterious voice from below before we really get into this... Is there anything else anyone wants to do here before we continue?"
Tera Flinders |
"Yep! Just a moment please," Tera says before walking up to the statue of Lamashtu and reaching up to cast a prestidigitation spell on it to make it look utterly ridiculous.
The question is, how far can she reach up it? She's 5' 3", so she can probably reach up 7 ish feet on her tip-toes.
Oliver Snow |
Looking up at the statue "Well Tera, I have to admit... I like what you have done with the place."
I noticed that my arrows and many of our weapons did not seem to do much to those over-grown dogs, Does anyone know how we can hurt them if we run into more? -Uh , without being able to shoot fire form our hands?"
Tera Flinders |
"Hmm? You mean this?"
Garish colors and silly graffiti soon cover the statue and the altar. Short as she is, Tera can just barely reach the statue's head.
"I think the moustache and goatee add a nice touch."
Kaede Mayumi |
Kaede smiles at Tera's artistic flourishes, as she cleans her glaive off. "When it comes to being a bit of a prankster, Tera's always had quite the flair," she says, chuckling at the bearded jackal head. "As for the beasts, I've been told some of my Lady's samurai that some creatures need weapons of a certain material to be fully effective. It's why my partner, raising her glaive up in front of her, " is of specially worked iron. These beasts must be effected by something else though."
