Katie "Kestral" Mestral |
Katie picks up a brick, and waits, snapping a few pictures of the group standing in a circle. When she sees Gothic suddenly turn for no reason to look at the door, she readies to throw a brick, but also watches the alleyway on the side out of the corner of her eye, in case anyone comes out the side to circle around.
Levi Parana |
Scene 11
Levi passes from this reality to her intangible one with a nod which pulls Trevor from his normal state. Without an effort she lowers into the earth and presses through toward where she suspects the basement is located beneath the bar.

SCENE 11 = At the Matador, Roll20 updated
In addition to Katie, several other people cannot believe their eyes as Levi takes Trevor intangible sinking into the ground on a sidewalk in broad daylight. One passing car barely avoids crashing. The weird events blogs will hear of this in a couple dozen minutes or so.
Stealth/Prowling for Levi = 7 x3 =21; Stealth/Prowling for Trevor = 8 x3 =24
The outside basement walls are old stone foundations. There's a new cinder block wall that defines the small cluttered room.
_Gothic |
Gothic takes a reflexive step back when the two sink into the ground. It was one thing to hear them think about it, but another entirely to see it happen in front of you. Her lips press together hard as she concentrates on screening out the shocked thoughts and voices of the passersby and focuses on the thoughts going on inside the Matador.
Not sure if I need another roll, since it always courts disaster. But here goes:
Mind: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9 x4=36
Katie "Kestral" Mestral |
Katie sighs, and looks at Gothic and thinks as hard as she can at her. YO! FREAKY MIND GIRL! THOSE TWO IDIOT FRIENDS OF YOURS ARE GOING TO GET KILLED! BEARD IS IN THERE AND I DOUBT BEING ABLE TO WALK THROUGH WALLS WILL HELP MUCH, HE'LL JUST RIP THROUGH THE WALL GOING AFTER THEM! TELL THEM TO GET OUT BEFORE THEY GET RIPPED INTO PIECES! THE FREAK ALREADY SCARED OFF YOUR COP FRIEND BY RIPPING A DOZEN GANGERS INTO 30 OR 40 PIECES EACH!" An imagined image of body parts scattered over the bar lurid with blood follows up.
Katie "Kestral" Mestral |
Just great, when I don't want freaky mind girl in my mind, she's all over it. When I want her to listen, she's all like 'I roll a 1 on my perception die'. She picks up a pebble from the roof and bounces it off the concrete next to Gothic's feet. THE FREAK ALREADY SCARED OFF YOUR COP FRIEND BY RIPPING A DOZEN GANGERS INTO 30 OR 40 PIECES EACH!" She repeats, hoping the pebble will get the girls attention.. since it left a skid mark on the concrete and then left a brick in the wall with a small hole halfway through it.
Trevor Horton |
Trevor doubles over, gripping his head and whispering.
Ow. G%* d!%mit. Ugh. Ripping, Beard? Who's Beard? What? Why didn't you say anything up there if it's buggin' you that much?
DM Jubal |
1. Levi hears this in her head - :: YO! THE FREAK ALREADY SCARED OFF YOUR COP FRIEND BY RIPPING A DOZEN GANGERS INTO 30 OR 40 PIECES EACH!" :: An imagined image of body parts scattered over the bar lurid with blood follows up.
2. There is no door that you can see in the basement. The described old loading door to the sidewalk is sealed, meaning non-functional unless you have Ghost Form.
Please review the map on Roll20.

Trevor Horton |
Trevor stands up after Gothic establishes communication again, shaking his head.
God, my stomach's in knots and now I have a headache and she's talking to me in my brain, and the girl's got a friend.
He remembers he's being listened in on, and starts whispering again to let Levi hear what he's saying.
Oh, sorry, emo/scene/gothic/whatever term you prefer for your aesthetic girl, you totally heard that. Can you tell where everyone in the building is? If we look about for your goal, will you be our radar?
_Gothic |
There is a moment in which Gothic wars with her reluctance to get involved. Instinct screams at her to walk away and forget this. But she quickly realizes that she wanted this, in some way. She had staked out the Matador without really questioning why. If she didn't get involved now, all that time would have been meaningless.
Plus, those two were different. Special.
And likely to get themselves killed without help.
::It's Gothic. The two from the van are with Beard and Enzo on your level. Five are upstairs in the bar. My... friend... knows who Beard is and is plenty scared of him. Seems to think he's like the Hulk or something::
On the sidewalk, Gothic leans her back against the exterior of the bar and looks up. Her eyes meet Katie's with her usual glower. Then she pulls out her phone and holds it up, showing her the glowing screen.
Katie "Kestral" Mestral |
Katie looks at the tiny screen through her phone's zoom, and can't make out anything on it. Sighing, she grumbles and grabs up a handful of stones. Then she runs to the edge of the cafe building's roof and drops off the side of the building.
Acrobatics: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3 Acrobatics: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2 Acrobatics: 1d6 ⇒ 2 4x5=20
There follows a half-hearted acrobatics display that mostly just get's the annoyed Katie down to street level without killing herself in the fall. Once she lands, she walks over to the other side of the street and steps around the corner of the Van. "312-555-2225" She tells the crazy goth chick, tapping the phone at her hip. NYAH NYAH NYAH I LOVE YOU YOU LOVE ME WE ALL HATE THIS STUPID SONG IT'LL STAY IN YOUR HEAD LONG AFTER I'M GONE I LOVE YOU YOU LOVE ME LET'S KILL BARNEY SHOOT HIM FULL OF BOLOGNE She looks around rapidly, keeping her eye on the front door and the alley as much as possible.
Katie "Kestral" Mestral |
No s!%* I want a shot at him... slips out between verses of 'Barney Must Die'. "Yeah, but there's too many bystanders around here, it won't stay in the building. I've been trying to find him away from innocent bystanders, I'm not really interested in killing half the block in a fight..."
_Gothic |
Gothic's mouth twists as she considers that. She types on her phone again.
::K. I'll try to get them out::
You hear the voice again in your head. ::This could get messy. Lots of bystanders on the street, and you're outnumbered. You sure you don't want to rethink this?::
Levi Parana |
Levi stays listening at the door trying to focus on the details of the conversation beyond it, consequently disregarding Trevor's whispering and sickness. Levi thinks back to Gothic, 'Not really looking to cause violence. I don't even know what these guys are up to concerning their connnection or level of involvement with Skygarde. We just tailed these guys here and need to know more information, but they are ramped up to 11. I don't know how to get information from someone waving a gun in my face. But they have something worth killing for here, can I pass up on trying knowing this?'
Levi Parana |
Corrected post:
Levi tries to listen at the conversation going on, but the parade of mind symbols clamoring in her head makes it nearly impossible to focus, and consequently disregards Trevor's, whatever it is he is doing.
Levi thinks back to Gothic, 'Not really looking to cause violence. I don't even know what these guys are up to concerning their connection or level of involvement with Skygarde. We just tailed these guys here and need to know more information, but they are ramped up to 11. I don't know how to get information from someone waving a gun in my face. But they have something worth killing for here, so can I pass up on trying to get this?'
Then while waiting for Trevor to get a game plan together, she procures her slim phone with its tactical grip case (tactical meaning black), plugs in her ear buds so she can make use of an impromptu listening device, and presses the red circle to begin recording. Slowly but carefully and as close to the perceived corner, where the walls and floor meet of the room on the other side of the wall, she motions the phone inward, stopping just as soon she as she can pick up on the conversation.
Levi Parana |
"Oh right, still doesn't work like that" Levi pulls the phone back and will manually, using her ghost form try and listen in on the conversation occasionally checking on Trevor to make sure he hasn't gone completely sea sick or insane or something.
Stealth2d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (6, 5) + (2) = 13x3 =39

Trevor Horton |
People try to hurt me on a weekly basis. Besides, I got a good reason to be here too.
Trevor gets his bearings and grabs a keg.
See this wall-smasher handle this. Hundred sixty pounds of metal at 40 mph to the dome.
_Gothic |
Gothic stares daggers at Katie and shakes her head no.
Then her head snaps down to focus on the concrete, or, more specifically, what's going on below it. She starts to type frantically on her phone, but halts with an annoyed glance at Katie. She shuts the phone off and jams it into her pocket.
She stares silently at Katie with an annoyed expression.
Katie "Kestral" Mestral |
Katie sighs. "They're dead then. I don't care who they are or how many powers they have. One superstrong freak, and 8 people with guns? They might be able to handle 8 norms with guns, if they had surprise. But add in a freak like us too, and they're dead." She frowns, and looks around. "Maybe we can head things off... If you're rummaging around in those gangers heads, you can find out when they'll be somewhere with no bystanders. Meanwhile, I'll go up on top of the building and find the power line going in. You let me know if they get in trouble, and I'll destroy the power line going in, hopefully they can get out in the darkness. Basement should be dark as a grave without electricity..."
DM Jubal |
How exactly are you going to do what you posted? Are you attempting to put your ear through the wall and stop when you start to hear something? If yes, you get no Stealth roll, because it's just blind luck that someone doesn't see a transparent ear attached to a wall or cabinet, right? On the other hand, you could put your eyes first through the wall. Then, you get a blind luck roll, because someone could be leaning against the wall right where she ghosts through. Then she can keep her great Prowling roll to position herself. However, you could face bonuses or penalties depending on how much furniture and stuff are in the room. Remember if there is nothing in the room but people, it may be improbable to be stealthy.
Katie "Kestral" Mestral |
Katie moves to the alley she's watched for so long, and get's a running start and begins bouncing back and forth up the alleway's walls, from pipe to fire escape to air conditioner to window ledge to roof.
Acrobatics: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6 Acrobatics: 1d6 ⇒ 3 Acrobatics: 1d6 ⇒ 6 15 x 5 = 75
Acrobatics: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8 8 x 5 = 40
Katie puts on a performance that would make an olympic acrobat cry and break their own legs with a hammer! Once on the roof, she runs around the edge, looking over, to find the incoming power lines and the big box on the back of the building that funnels the high voltage lines into the building's power lines.

I thought I was just gonna pick it up casually and quietly like picking up a folding chair, super strength and all. That's ok though.
Trevor points down and grabs Levi's shoulder.
DM Jubal |
Sorry. Ordinarily it would have been fine, but their door was open.
On the other hand, Trevor would have had the same result picking up a folding chair without specifying and/or rolling stealth. The basement is cluttered. It wouldn't be what you're focused that makes noise, but the small thing that was leaning against it. Cheers
DM Jubal |
SCENE 11 - at the Matador
Levi and Trevor float into the ground.
The second errand boy follows much more noisily with a shotgun. They start to discuss what the noise could have been but don't notice the missing keg.

You're up
Trevor Horton |
Ok, that makes sense. I was just gonna say if he had to like grunt and hoist it up like he was lifting weights, he would have left it alone.
Trevor is, as usual, uncomfortable with the feeling of going incorporeal. He tries to send a message to the girl.
Maybe we should talk about what exactly you're looking for here. Just how many friends did you bring with you?
