Njord Bjornson
Is there any indication what they’re doing with the casks or are they just taking them off the ship and putting them back on?
Randall Quickstep
{ooc]I know you aren't talking about me - you have better Diplomacy and Sense Motive bonuses![/ooc]
I'm about to hit the road for home and I want to let the others have their chance to weigh in, so I'm going to hold off posting. Randall is still walking back to where the others stand near Speaker thug.
Jametor Darksbane
"Hey, don't you work for Clegg? I mean you probably are a minor employee and all, since I don't know your name. So why would you be down here being Clegg's errand boy when we are down here to collect a shipment for Saul?"

Antal nudges his larger friend. "You know...if they're thieves and working for this competitor then it means gloves come off right? I'm not required to play nice right?"
Njord Bjornson
Ah hell no…
Njord holds up a hand.
”Look, I don’t know who’s payin’ who here but we’re not leaving without those casks. Call the gendermes all you want. They can help you pick up your teeth.”

"Is that how you really feel? Then let's get 'em, boys!" yells the man, reaching for his sword. "Are you sure you want to do this? Think about it!"
A fearsome expression accompanies the last bit as the man glares at each of the group in turn.
Dazzling Display: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Antal is shaken for 4 rounds; everyone else is shaken for 3.
Randall and Fíriel are up.
Randall Quickstep
Heh, and I was seriously considering not calling for Rube...
A pair of daggers appear in Randall's hands and he keeps an eye on the three foes closest him. Total Defense
Fíriel Goldworthy
Fíriel draws a dagger and tosses it at one of the thugs near Randall.
Attack (PBS, shaken): 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 1 - 2 = 14

The thug brushes at the scratch from the halfling's dagger and pulls a flail from his belt. Stepping forward, he swings it at the halfling.
vs Randall: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
The other one looses a long-hafted weapon from his back and brings it to bear against Randall as well.

A halfling who's been hiding behind the corner of a building turns and runs off. 2d4 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5
Njord, Jametor and Antal are up.
Jametor Darksbane
Jametor turns at the third thug who fired at him and flings blue sand at him, saying a command word.
Color Spray DC 15
Oh how I am regretting not casting Mage Armor before we left.
Njord Bjornson
Njord is shaken by the fierce display but stands his ground. He pulls a vial from the pouch at his hip and smashes it against his forearm.
Shield.
DM Oladon
Will: 1d20 ⇒ 6
The bow-wielding thug screams as the sand finds its way into her eyes, then falls to the ground unconscious.
3d4 ⇒ (2, 3, 2) = 7
Antal is up.
DM Oladon
The big man growls as his opponents fail to flee. Drawing his sword, he steps forward and swings it at the biggest of the three enemies before him. "Lavinia!" he yells, "Forget the guard! Get back here!"
vs Njord: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Randall and Fíriel are up.
Njord Bjornson
Njord grunts as his armor deflects the blow.
"How much is Clegg payin' you?" he asks as he brings his own sword up in defense.
What kind of sword is he using?
Randall Quickstep
Toe-to-toe with two guys? Not my style, no thanks. Randall tries to roll back away from Stony, but his footing fails him and he's off-balance for a moment, giving the thug an opening. Regaining his balance, he steps back carefully and raises his daggers defensively.
Acrobatics to back away: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12 That's certainly a failure, so he loses his move action and provokes. After the AoO (taken or not), he resorts to a 5' step instead and goes to total defense again for an AC of 20.
Round 2 of 3 shaken
Randall Quickstep
You want me to pretend I didn't try to flip back? I made the choice, a +10 had a reasonable chance to make it, but he failed. It will suck if it kills him, but...the rules say a failed Acrobatics check to move through a threatened square provokes. Whether they take the opportunity is up to you.
Njord Bjornson
Nicer than my sword?
"I promise he isn't paying you enough for the beating you're about to get", Njord says with a laugh.
DM Oladon
I was just checking, Randall. Need you to make another Acrobatics check, and tell me which one you want to try to get away from first. Slicy is the one that hit you before.
Also, you don't lose the move action, so if you want to go more than 5' away, feel free. You only lose the move if you're going through an enemy's space.
Njord Bjornson
Would a 14 have made it? Blame the intimidator!
Randall Quickstep
We're reading the rules different, but you are the boss. For the record, my interpretation is that it is a single roll but the DC goes up for each additional foe you have to pass. And it's through a threatened space, not through a foe's space - going through their space ups the DC even more. Moving more than 5' makes another Acrobatics roll (or two) necessary.
And the check should have been +8, I forgot about the intimidation penalty, so the first roll was a 10. In sum, I did not do that very well at all. Maybe I should stand my ground and put a blade in Stony instead.
Make the first roll vs Stony and this one vs Slicy, please.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 10 - 2 = 16 Got the intimidation penalty this time.
Still cannot edit on Ditzie. Please move Randall one square up.
DM Oladon
The flail-wielding thug swipes at Randall as the halfling backs away.
AoO vs Randall: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Fíriel Goldworthy
"Randall!" cries Fíriel as her friend is struck by the two thugs. "Stop them!" she yells angrily at the longsword-wielder. "Stop them now!!"
Springing into action despite her fright, she twirls and dances past her allies and her foe, ending up behind him.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 9 - 2 = 20
With the dagger she pulled during her maneuver, she tries to stab him in the back, but she's too distracted to aim well.
Attack (flanking, shaken): 1d20 + 6 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 2 - 2 = 10

2d2 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
The two thugs on the dock surge forward as Randall tries to get away. The one with the longer weapon swings it low to the ground in an attempt to trip Randall, while the flail-wielder moves forward to engage the halfling again.

Njord, Antal and Jametor are up.
Njord Bjornson
Njord grips his weapon tightly and swipes at the big man squared off with him.
Intimidated: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Randall Quickstep
Is Randall down?
If he wasn't allowed to go to Total Defense, Randall is at -1. If he was able to go to Total Defense, he's still up.
DM Oladon
Were you going into total defense before trying to move away? The way you stated it was "After the AoO (taken or not), he resorts to a 5' step instead and goes to total defense again for an AC of 20."
Either way is fine, just let me know so I can fix the map/posts.
Randall Quickstep
Can I go total defense and move? If so, that's what he would do. I was thinking I needed to be stationary to go total defense, so I was moving first. I have more than the normal number of distractions here, so I apologize if I'm all over the map on you today.
DM Oladon
Yeah, you can do that. I figured you intended to tumble away and then attack. In that case, I'll edit the previous post with the following changes: Slicy's trip attempt will have been against you (missed), and Stony will swing at you instead of Fíriel (5 damage).
Antal Hyrgan
Antal gasps as his halfling companion almost gets taken to the ground by such a heavy blow. The distraction almost proves his undoing, as the long weapon wielder almost knocks him down. It's only the last minute move that saves him.
In response, the oracle swings his morningstar at the man, hoping to take him down to size a bit. I'm assuming the long weapon is mostly wood and not metal?
AoO: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
DM Oladon
Yeah, it's wood-hafted. Also, unfortunately, due to the retcon there's no AoO for Antal. :( But feel free to take your regular turn!
Jametor Darksbane
I am going to hold off posting until we get done correcting the retcon, that sound good? But while I am here, can I move diagonal to the right, up, then over and diagonal back into melee with the main guy? basically it would make me flanking across from Antal? And I know I can, meaning can I do so without AOO>
DM Oladon
The retcon should be completed at this point.
The movement you described would provoke because you'd be leaving a threatened square.
Jametor Darksbane
Jametor takes a 5 foot step backward and fires an acid dart at the man barking all the orders.
Acid Dart: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 4 = 3

Antal Hyrgan
Antal takes courage and reaches out to touch the man with the nice sword. Edited, since I was mistaken on where people were located.
Touch of the Void, so melee touch attack

Cold Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

"Ouch! You'll pay for that, you hairy son of an orc!"
The sword-wielding Braddikar swings at Njord, his sword making a whooshing noise as it slices the air.
vs Njord: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Randall and Fíriel are up. Antal is shaken for 2 more rounds; everyone else is shaken for this round, then done.
Fíriel Goldworthy
Fíriel follows the swordsman and stabs with her dagger again, but once again the man is too quick for her.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 9 - 2 = 25
Attack! (flanking, shaken): 1d20 + 6 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 2 - 2 = 7
Gah.
DM Oladon
1d2 ⇒ 2
"Hey shorty, quit your magic!" yells the flail-thug, swinging at Antal vengefully. The other keeps trying to trip Randall, but his companion gets in his way and ruins his swing.
vs Antal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Trip vs Randall (soft cover): 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 - 4 = 14
Njord, Antal and Jametor are up.
Jametor Darksbane
Jametor takes another 5 foot step away from the bossy man and then turns and flings a pad of butter and yelling a command word as the pad flies past his allies and lands between the two common thugs.
Place the grease spell on the ground covering the two squares the thugs are in, plus the other two square adjacent to them. basically the 4 square directly south of Antal and Randall

Slicy Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Stony Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Both goons glare at the wizard, but manage to stand their ground.
Njord and Antal are up.
