Malnval stands next to the elven ranger, shading his eyes against the sun as he tries to make out the red feather on the raven, "By the gods Shel, your eyes are a wonder, they are as useful as they are beutiful! I can not see the feather, but from what you describe that is called a blood-feather raven. It is considered an evil omen by some and thought to be in the service of dark powers. I would asume it to be simular to Valwen here, except in the service of a fell magic user."
Shalelu looks at Malnival for a moment, then back at the raven. "Should we shoot it down?" she asks, fingering an arrow.

Losthome - The Broken Saw
As you head into town in search of a tavern, Kelda takes the lead. "Follow me," she says, marching intently towards a building in the style of an Ulfen longhouse. Hanging from a sconce beside the door is a long tree saw, snapped in half. Kelda shoves open the door and looks around at the patrons, most of them burly Ulfen lumberjacks, daring them with her eyes. None take the challenge.
"Servitrise, gi oss en runde med mjød, nå!" she barks at a serving wench.

"What is your name again sir? And have you made this journey often? Have you ever traveled over the mountains?"
"I am Atler Caerstaad, of Trollheim. I have made this journey many times - I usually run a circuit between Kalsgard, Jol, Losthome, Blackraven Hall and Trollheim - but I've never been so blasted unlucky. Must have pissed off some whore winter witch of Irrisen to get cursed so."
Atler's bushy brows furrow at your third question. "Which mountains do you mean?"
You can assume their goods are fit into nooks and free spaces, but you'll still have to account for their consumption (5 is correct).
Maeve Haela

Maeve shrugs. "If we had the spare, I'd say try tossing it some food as we pack up. I don't think there's anything extraordinary about it beyond what we've seen, so that should get rid of it if it's making you nervous."
Losthome Tavern
Maeve follows after Kelda, choosing to ignore the attempts to bait the potential criminal mastermind. Who happens to control access to the food. Well, maybe Mal can get away with that, providing food for himself.
However, Kelda's outburst gets a frown of disapproval. "Kelda, there are much better ways of getting proper service, you know. With less chance of finding hairs in your soup or, worse, your ale. Or mead. Come to think of it what do you like to drink?"
Kelda Oxgutter *DM*
The Broken Saw
Kelda raises an amused eyebrow to Maeve's scolding. "Maybe in your country, that is true. Here, in mine, this is the vay. Too polite, and you vill find hairs, or vorse, in your drink!"
"Nothing is better than a sveet, strong honey mead," she adds with a wide smile.

Atler looks down the road to the west. "Kalsgard... from here, another three days or so, including today. Looks like your caravan makes pretty good time." He nods in approval. "You've got a fine operation here. I often say I should get myself a wagon or two, but I still prefer the freedom to cut cross-country if I need to." Atler shrugs, picking up his purse and counting out a good number of coins. He hands them over to Harlan with a grunt, "My men aren't much more than handlers and haulers, so hopefully this covers your troubles. Again, I thank you."

Now that the blood-feather raven has been pointed out, you easily track its presence among the following flock. While some of the blackbirds brave closer and closer to your train, it conspicuously remains distant, either circling high overhead or watching from a distant tree top.
Sometime around dusk, it is gone.

The Fury of the Northmen
Date: Night, 19 Rova 4711
After you gather up Atler's things and continue on, the rest of the day's travel passes quietly, though a cold wind out of the north drops the temperature sharply. You camp that evening at the south end of the Skalsbridge, an ancient stone bridge that crosses the Rimeflow to the north. As night descends and you sit for dinner, a freezing mist settles across the land, dimming the reach of the campfire light.
DM NomadSage
Fury of the Northmen
Having been spotted, the large raven quickly flies away into the concealing darkness. A couple moments later...
You are not suprised in the upcoming fight.
You gain a +4 on this check if you succeeded the first.
A couple moments after that...
The sounds of night are muted amid the freezing fog that clings to your blankets, cloaks and Varisian mustachios alike. The dull silence is suddenly broken by the scrape of wood upon the gravel bank of the river -- a boat has been beached just beneath the bridge -- quickly followed by the splash of feet in the shallows and the oath-cries and battle-songs of Ulfen raiders!
If you failed the second perception check, you are surprised. Otherwise, actions for surprise round? Map sent. Note, the mist grants everything concealment, and obscures vision beyond 20 ft.

Round One
As soon as the first Ulfen figure emerges from the foggy darkness, Heng charges to meet them with a flying fist, unfortunately aimed a few feet short. Harlan calls Sarenrae's blessing on the caravan defenders, as the first wave hits. Two raiders charge Harlan, who ducks and dodges, aided by the fog, to avoid their attacks. Two others surround Heng, and he avoids off their axe swings, while one more engages Mal, but has his attack parried aside. Still more raiders come up from the beach.
Parity moves up to aid Harlan, drawing his falcata and attacking the nearest raider, but swings off-balance and hits only sand. Behind them, Maeve moves across the campground in a swirling, inspiring dance.

Round Two
Heng lashes out in a series of attacks, cracking one foe against the forehead and the other in the gut. The first blinks his eyes and shakes his head before continuing to fight. Harlan hops away from his attackers, getting enough space to set Parity's blade aflame with a spell.
The second wave of Ulfen raiders rush in screaming as the first counterattacks. It is all any of you can do to avoid the overwhelming number of attacks, and some are less successful than others. Both Heng and Parity take a couple of cuts, but Maeve, Malnival and Harlan avoid injury -- at least for the moment.
Parity counters with a killing blow, slicing the raider's neck open with a single slash. He nearly lands a follow through on the next foe, but misjudges the distance. Maeve charges in beside Malnival, landing a powerful kick to the raider's chest. Malnival also attacks, trying to mix spell and sword, but unfortunately bungles the casting and, in frustration, whiffs the swing.

Heng keep swinging while slowly backing towards the others. Harlan tries to help Parity by stabbing at his attackers' groin, but they don't see the attempt. The rest of the third wave of raiders join in the fray, barraging Parity and Heng with a number of attacks. They manage to block and dodge most, but still take a couple of grazing hits, and the number of wounds is beginning to tell.
Parity goes into a battle trance, moving his falcata in a weave as quickly as the eye can travel, cutting down one and then another foe in a single swing.
Nearby, Maeve hits her attacker with a flurry of dancing kicks and punches, knocking the much taller man around. Malnival sidesteps his opponent with a spin, and then slams the raider with a powerful electric-infused strike. Still convulsing, the raider falls to the ground, dead.
