1st: A question to answer: Award XP or level up by DM fiat. Your vote.
2nd: Something to consider: As a note of interest, there are actually a few items of technological interest on sale in Torch at the beginning of the campaign. If you wish to save any of your money to purchase them feel free.
Note: I won't tell you what they are until the game starts, so it's a bit of a gamble.
3rd: I'll be adding notable NPCs in Torch and some basics of the town's demographics in the Campaign Tab shortly. If you have questions about a geographical area of the map or other things of interest not covered in the player's guide, feel free to ask even before the game starts. You're either from Torch or have been there for some time so basic knowledge would be covered.

What are the odds of being able to start next week? Thoughts?
Have you all heard from TJ? Has he created a board profile yet?

Ok, so I'm logged in and all that. Not sure where I post everything or if I need to wait for Tike. So here is my initial post.

Good start. So some things to still select.
Favored Class bonus: every level you take in your favored class, you get to choose +1 Hp or +1 skill point or for your cleric you can pick 1/2 use / day of one of your special domain abilities.
Choose your skill points (1 point per rank ... max rank is equal to level in any skill) ... 2 base for you (+1 if you choose the favored class bonus above)
Three traits: 1 from the players guide, 2 from the PRD
You have up to 2,000 gp to spend.
Quickdraw light shield stats aren't accurate ... doesn't give +6 armor bonus, should give 1 only.
For agile breastplate, you may want to consider adding masterwork to it, to gain more benefit. Small cost for armor.

Arthul |

Oh, Tike, another question for you. Thanks for letting me pick your brain. What 2 CMD do would you favor? I think human fighters get one of the better favored class bonuses, in that I can take +1 to two different CMD's at each level.
Am I reading that right?
This is the list of CMD's I'm seeing:
Bull Rush
Dirty Trick
Disarm
Drag
Grapple
Overrun
Reposition
Steal
Sunder
Trip
I'm leaning towards Grapple and Trip, but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious! Thanks
Edit: Oh, and one more question.. How do Boons work? I saw a feat that gives you some boons if you perform an act of obidence, but I couldn't tell from the stuff online what those exact bonuses are.
Here's a link that has the best information I have been able to find:
Walter’s Guide to Deific Obediences.

DM Fflash |

Ben, I believe that's "+one half" point to CMD (Combat Maneuver Defense). So essentially making your CMD better by 1 every 2 levels.
Not nearly as good as you might have thought, I think.
Boons: Are pretty cool mechanically, but I'll be hard over on the role playing bit. You got to be pretty damn faithful to be granted favored status (in addition to actually remembering to perform the boon). Most are better if you have access to spells. Obviously huge for TJ ... he should look at the Desna ones. They are also level limited for the higher order powers.
How's your gea, trait & feat selection coming?
TJ: Your other notes section is blank for me. Put your traits in your feats/special abilities section.
Still need to pick your favored class bonus (if you're selecting the domain special ability increase, annotate the 1/2 point somewhere)
Kam: Finish yet?
ALL: I'm thinking of doing XP award, since there is more XP than required for the AP, it's not as big a deal if you don't do everything and if you do, you'll gain more for it. I do level by fiat in my other games, but this AP has a lot of "special XP" awards for various activities that I don't have another way to reward you all if you accomplish. If you're opposed let me know, otherwise, I'll just ding you with XP whenever you get it.

Yeah, I'd expect that too, which is why it seems pretty good (although it is only 2 specific CMD rolls, so it's only two of the eight or whatever):
Human Add +1 to the fighter's CMD when resisting two combat maneuvers of the character's choice.
Feats I'm good on, I'll take power attack and cleave, the goofy skill focus replaces my human bonus feat, so that's covered.
Sorry for the hassle, but for my last trait I've got one question. If I take something that makes it so I'm never flat footed during a surprise round (link here., will that give me the ability to do attacks of opportunity, or is it just keeping dex bonus to ac, etc.? If that does give me AoO, I'll probably replace one of my current traits with that, if not I just need to pick the campaign one and I need to read through those and see what fits, I have the .pdf, but Charlotte just woke up so I need go finish this and go get her :)

That's great, I prefer XP done like that!

Focused Study for the human feat (gives me the prereq for Eldritch, and 2 other skill focuses, just later one):
Focused Study: All humans are skillful, but some, rather than being generalists, tend to specialize in a handful of skills. At 1st, 8th, and 16th level, such humans gain Skill Focus in a skill of their choice as a bonus feat. This racial trait replaces the bonus feat trait.

Nemoris |

gotcha, focused study ... cool!
How close to done are you? Gear spent, traits picked?
I think I'm set on gear, need to add up what the normal, rope, candles, mirror, crowbar etc. pack costs (I think I have a post on the shattered city page I can just copy), and then settle on the last trait. Besides that I should be 100%

Kelryon Tonarr |

Ok the damn sheet didn't save and I lost the traits I had selected. So I just went and selected some decent ones to get going. I'm going to go with the _1hp for this level out of the options I have.
Tike can you suggest a profession that will go with Spellcraft? That is all I need to be finished I believe. Sorry for being late, was on call last week and literally had zero time to do anything.

DM Fflash |

Kelryon,
So traits: only can have 1 from each category, you have 2 dwarf ones. No big deal since one of your 3 MUST be from the campaign guide that I sent out way long time ago. Let me know if you need another copy.
Second, you need a couple more memorized spells.
....
You guys are driving me nuts with these finishing details ... let's go, let's go, let's go!!!!

Nemoris |

Still getting weight and all of that put in, but besides that I should be all ready!

Kelryon Tonarr |

Ok, I chose the Local Ties - Disable Device trait from the guide.
I added one more spell to my list, Sanctuary. As to rest of the slots, I'm intentionally leaving some open at first. I'm basing it off the following. Please let me know if you won't allow.
"A divine spellcaster selects and prepares spells ahead of time through prayer and meditation at a particular time of day. The time required to prepare spells is the same as it is for a wizard (1 hour), as is the requirement for a relatively peaceful environment. When preparing spells for the day, a divine spellcaster can leave some of her spell slots open. Later during that day, she can repeat the preparation process as often as she likes. During these extra sessions of preparation, she can fill these unused spell slots. She cannot, however, abandon a previously prepared spell to replace it with another one or fill a slot that is empty because she has cast a spell in the meantime. Like the first session of the day, this preparation takes at least 15 minutes, and it takes longer if she prepares more than one-quarter of his spells."

Round 3 || Initiative 17 || 82/82 hp || AC: 28 (T:18 FF:23) F11 / R15 / W10
Try to keep them back!
I'll take a 5 foot NW, and full round attack the Charau-Ka that's attacking Epik:
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27 Damage: 1d8 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18 Miss:1d100 ⇒ 78 Crit: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 Damage: 1d8 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18 Miss:1d100 ⇒ 11 Crit: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 Damage: 1d8 + 15 ⇒ (8) + 15 = 23 Miss:1d100 ⇒ 57 Crit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18 Damage: 1d8 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16 Miss:1d100 ⇒ 88 Crit: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13

Arthul |

Naw, sorry Tike, I had a rough enough time just getting the toon rolled up.
If I had to come up with something on the spot I'd go with orphan kid, didn't know his parents, first memories are of running with a "gang" of urchins, pick pockets, etc.
His unusual size and strength had him picked out to be muscle, a thug, mugger, and so on, but he was able to escape the life of crime, burn all ties, and take up a new life as Arthul, adventurer and warrior of Gorum.
I'd guess it would be better for me to be from another town or land, so I don't get sucked back into some shady crime family, but I'll try to flesh it out a bit more once I get some time and can think about it for more than 2 minutes!!

DM Fflash |

OK, we could go with thug turned scrapper/salvager/explorer which is where you picked up the knowledge of Androffan and the affinity for hunting tech.
Let's say you've visited Torch before to sell things and then hired on to this caravan for the past couple weeks and have gotten to know Kelryon and Dicio better through that. You dont have any permanent home elsewhere so you're able to stay as long as your coin doesn't run out.
Also, Androffan won't be a direct translated language right yet ... more like the current understanding of Egyptian hieroglyphics. You can put together concepts and ideas. It will progress as we play.
