August is brave but doesn't think for himself, he is always seeking a "liege" and will follow the leader type in the group. Plus I want to give someone else a chance to suggest stuff.

What are them glowy things? Magic stuff? August looks at the map. Oh yeah? If you say so. Do we go up them stairs now? August again waits for the all-clear before proceeding.

Merisiel sees no sign of traps and makes it down the stairs.

The air here is cooler than the upper floor, and the room is relatively clean and clear of debris. The walls, though made of stone, bear the carved likeness of fresh soil riddled with tree roots. A staircase along the northern wall winds upward to the floor above, and an open doorway leads to the south.

Peering through the open archway into the next chamber over, she spots surprisingly intact furniture.

Beyond a few pieces of furniture made of petrified wood and a stack of sleeping pallets, this rounded triangular room is devoid of furnishings and gives the appearance of having been ransacked. A wealth of mushrooms and fungi grow to a height of three feet around the periphery of the room.

The inquisitor of Cayden Cailean moves up to the entrance and peers in, gun drawn, but there's dust in his eye and he can't see clearly.

Merisiel's rapier draws blood from the ashen-colored elf.

He hisses in pain and drops his blow. Drawing an elegant curved blade from the scabbard at his hip, he levels it at Merisiel before he strikes. Elven:"Die surface scum!"

The other strange elf ducks into the corner until August loses sight of her and then springs out with another shot from his crossbow.

Ezren files in after his companions and fires a volley of arcane bolts at the dark-skinned elf battling Merisiel.

Merisiel's opponent grunts in pain from Ezren's spell. He slashes at the elf and then springs toward August.

On the dark elves August finds a well-made elven curve blade, composite bow, rapier, hand crossbow, and a handful of arrows dripping with poison.

Oh, that's a nice one there! August admires the weapon that the she-elf has claimed. Maybe there's somethin' behind this here door you can use it on!


Yellow puffball fungi nearly a foot in diameter and chunks of orange and purple crystal glow faintly in the gloom of this round chamber. Strange plaster frescoes depicting acts of violence cover the walls, and in the center of the floor stands an altar made of petrified wood that supports a collection of decaying eyeballs laid in an offering bowl like a demented still-life.

A badly beaten elf hangs manacled to the room’s south wall. He's guarded by a demonic-looking humanoid and another monstrous plant.

The demon slashes at Merisiel with a cruel curved blade.
