Felgar leads with his shoulder, his axe held behind and out of his way, and muscles into the crude and hacked door. The force of his push sliding and toppling furniture out of the way with loud bangs and screeches across the bare planks of the room.

This one-room flat combines all the amenities of a bedroom. a kitchen, and a painter's studio into one fifteen-foot-square space, leaving little room for much else.

A stack of cheese and bread sits on the counter next to several full waterskins, while the easel in the opposite corner holds a half-completed painting of an imp and a pseudodragon fighting atop a church steeple. A single window looks out over the tangled rooftops of the Shingles, while just under it, a woman sleeps in a curled-up position on a low bed.

Felgar pushes his way into the room and steps to the immediate side of the door, axe ready to block any chance at escape, and he leaves room for the others to rush in.

Rutter had entered the room relatively cautiously, suspicious that the "sleeper" wasn't woken by Felgar's racket. He immediately looks for other escape routes, and isn't surprised to hear noises from the window.

If she could set traps, that junk behind the door would've gone "clink" (the sound of a poison dart or a gas vial breaking :), Rutter reasons, and he dashes out the window, hoping his natural agility will help him make up ground on the long-legged, but clumsy human.

You didn't say it, you didn't do it.

Seeing the group scrabbling at the window as a few of you make it out, the young lady, a petite, attractive, blonde girl, stands up from where she was slowly making her way while attempting to hide. It is at this point she decides that she's been spotted, and there is nothing to do but run.

The landscape up on the Shingles varies in heights, stability, contents and any sort of rhyme or reason as to its intended purpose. The woman managed to get a good thirty yards away before you figured out her ruse, now you are left with having to chase her down among these unlikeliest of obstacles if you want to take her alive. If you don't get to her before she makes it to the end of the Shingles, you just may lose her in the city.

The Chase:
This will be my first chase, and I am using the rules out of the module (so forgive me if they updated/errata'd them). This is where Neva and Rutter's non-combat, and Felgar's combat bonuses from the Harrow come in. Also, if you move at 20' you get a -2 to any of the skill checks, and if you move 40' you get a +2.

At the start of your turn you decide whether you want to move 1, 2, or 3 rooftops.
As a move action you can move one rooftop no check needed.
As a Full-round action you can attempt to move 2 or 3 rooftops.
To move 2 you need to perform one check from your current location, to move 3 you need to perfom two skill checks from your current location.
If any of the checks are failed by 5 or LESS, you only move 1 rooftop.
If any of the checks are failed by MORE than 5, you fall to the street below, taking falling damage.

Initiative:
Copper 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Felgar 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Neva 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Pravlox 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Rutter 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Trinia 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Turn Order:
Trinia - Moved, on rooftop 5 now.
Copper -
Pravlox - (since you are mounted, Rex goes on your Init)
Felgar -
Rutter -
Neva -

Comfortable with the amount of a lead she has on all of you, Trinia cautiously makes her way up a sharply angled roof to the top of the next one nearby. From where you are all at, you can see that there may just be a small path that is cleared up to the next building, or you could scurry up the clothesline that is attached to it. On the far end of the roof, however, there is a guidewire that looks to hold the buildings somewhat steady at this height, and it runs all the way up to the roof she was just on. If only you could figure out a way to get to that line.

The checks are Perception DC 15, and Climb DC 15. One check to go 2 rooves, or both to go 3.

Two quick questions:

1: Does a DC15 Perception AND a DC15 Climb together count as one check, or do we pick which one to move 2 rooves? In other words, if I want to move 3 rooves, do I make TWO Perception Checks and TWO Climb checks?

2: Neither Climb nor Perception are DEX based skill checks, and the only benefit that I can see from harrow card is to increase movement. Am I right thinking that, for Felgar?

For two rooves, you pick one of the checks and roll once, for 3 rooves you have to roll both checks once (Perc and Climb). Since Felgar only gets a combat bonus, he will not get any benefits for the rooves, and in fact has a penalty due to his speed, as does Rutter and Pravlox (when not mounted).

Copper confidently lets fly a spell, ready to put the silly chase to a quick end. He summons the arcane energies, directing them towards the woman... as she continues walking across the new rooftop she just arrived at.

Pravlox is able to pick his way, from Rex's back, to the far reaching line in hopes to make good progress. Sadly, halfway up, his mount can't maintain its grip long enough to go the whole distance. The drop deposits him only slightly further than the roof he had started on.

Felgar decides to stick to the obvious route, moving to the clothesline and crossing it easily hand over hand.

Rutter, looking all over for the path to the long wire, realizes he's wasting too much time, and settles for the other line, getting just far enough to drop onto the next roof.

Neva, seeing what Copper had in mind, to put an end to this thing also casts a spell to stop the woman in her tracks. After finishing her incantation the young lady stops cold, unmoving, just a slight way down across the roof she was on.

DM Roll:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

She remains frozen in place, unable to shake off the effect on her, but it may not last too long so getting to her sooner than later is still optimal.

Copper and Neva, having chosen a different approach, are still on the first rooftop. Pravlox and Rutter, though managed to end up on a crumbling roof, with a steep angle. It will probably be a precarious crossing, but if they can spot the best places to step they may be able to make it across with good time. In the lead, Felgar sees that he could skip one of the roofs if he makes a short leap, or go further if he walks out to the edge of the nearby narrow ledge before making a short jump from there.

Just want to say, I feel like an idiot for pluralizing it 'Rooves' instead of 'Roofs', thought it looked funny but Hoof is -ves. Ended up looking it up in the dictionary.

Copper, looking for the previous members' paths, manages to find a way around some of the cluttered rooftop landscape to end up further ahead, and closer to the goal. Pravlox tried to make his way across the middle of the steep crumbling roof, but spent much of his time backtracking away from the dangerous portions, and instead only made it a brief distance. Felgar, only needing to get to the roof with the contained woman, goes for the simple jump across he needed to get to her. Rutter, decides to avoid picking his way acroos the steep roof, and instead takes a longer, safer route along the outer edge, but making decent time. For his efforts he is rewarded by another steep and decrepit rooftop, no less dangerous than the last. Neva, the last one still at the window to the girls room, decides to catch up to the rest of the group. Her eyes fail her as she watches the events of the others' progress and tries to allay the fears of the young girl. She catches a loose shingle underfoot, it knocks her to the edge of the angled roof, and precariously close to falling. She spends more time just getting back up and on track.

Sorry for the delays, truly, but I refuse to quit. If you guys are willing to put up with my slow speed for a bit, I will never just drop the game/disappear (barring personal tragedy that prevents me from posting). There may just be times that I slow to a crawl.

Felgar's grab was hasty and awkward, and having just broken free of the spell, Trinia was not likely to get pinched again so easily. Copper and Pravlox find the leaps to be especially harrowing, both of them stopping at the very end of their respective leaping platforms, second-guessing the success of their actions. Rutter, resigned to making slow and steady progress, eases his way onto the roof with Felgar and the young woman. Neva decides that she will leave the young woman to the young men that have the sprightliness still i their limbs to keep up with their quarry. maybe she could follow Rutter's path and get there before too long, but she will not likely catch up to all of them any time soon.

Remember Neva, as a move action (no roll needed) you can move as much as 1 rooftop a round.

Trinia, truly threatened by the dwarf grabbing at her, and the scruffy looking halfing just catching up, takes a step back while drawing her blade. With a dagger in one hand, she begins a soft melody, and tells the dwarf,
"Three goblins were walking down the road when they find a dead rat.
The first goblin says, “that look real tasty!”
The seconds one says, “I no like rat!”
The third one says, “I wait fer something better!”
The first goblin eats the rat
Further down the road they see a dead rabbit.
The first says he is full, the second says he loves rabbit, and the third says that he is still waiting. So the second one decides to eat it.
As they walk, the first and second one start vomiting.
The third goblin says, “Finally, meal I can eat!”"

As she finishes, you can tell that she just uttered the words to a spell.

Felgar, DC 15 Will save, or under the effects of Hideous Laughter.

Male Dwarf Two-Handed Fighter/5; AC: 20, T: 13, FF: 17; HP: 50/50; F: +5, R: +3, W: +1; Init: +2, Perc: +4

Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Male Human Arcane-Blooded Sorcerer 4 (AC: 12 [T: 12 FF: 10](+4MA, +4 Sh) | HP: 32/32 | F+2, R+4, W+5 | Init +2 |Perc +1)

That was freakin cool.
Acrobatics 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

Copper quickly manages to close the gap between where he is and the roof where Felgar and Rutter are trying to catch the woman.

Just realized that I didnt need to try for 3 roofs last time, cause I was only 2 away, lol.

Male Halfling Summoner 4 (AC: 13 [T: 11 FF: 13] | CMD: 13 | HP: 20/20 | F+1, R+4, W+5(+2 vs fear) | Init: +2 |Perc: +3)

Acrobatics 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Acrobatics 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

As Rex reaccesses the situation, he backs up one more time, and launches himself toward the singing girl, if for no other reason than to get her to shut up about silly goblins.

Female Human Cleric 6 of Pharasma (AC: 14 [T: 12 FF: 12] | HP: 34/36 | F+5, R+4, W+10 | Init: +2 |Perc: +3)

Neva grasped the air, cringed in sympathy, and basically mimed the fight taking place so many rooftops away. "Pharasma's icy t@*&!" she swore to herself in frustration.

With a deep breath, she steeled her courage and started to make her way forward as best she could. As she reached a particularly precipitous ledge, she exchanged her curse for some hastily whispered prayers of forgiveness.

Was my attempted grapple this turn, or do I have actions left?
