If anyone's running The Commencement and needs a map for the Acquisitives' mission...
** spoiler omitted **
Thanks a lot, Red! I'll definitely be using that.
Charli Poshkettle |
That's a thing of beauty, Red!
GM Poblano Pepper |
Thank you Red it's very nice.
I should offer up my map in trade then. Any other GMs feel free to use.
Claim to Salvation Still playing at the moment so olease try not to move anything.

For those of you that use Herolab.
Starfinder Beta coming Next week for Herolab Online (Link).
Keep in mind it is a Beta and double check your math.

Here are a few forums threads worth reading on the new Herolab Online as well as it looks as if Starfinder will not be available for Herolab Classic.

In a gameday run of the commencement, we've not heard from our GM in a week. We're still in the first 'mission' we chose. The GM has had things going on so that he or she has been gone for about a week before this, also. What are we supposed to do in a situation like this? I'm wondering if our GM is gone for good, and also wondering if we can finish by the end of gameday.
GM RePete |
I imagine this link by Hmm still applies to starfinder games.
I don't have the bandwidth to help out right now, but I'm sure if needed someone could step in. Goodluck.
GM Hmm |
Yep, one week is abandonment. Redelia, let's get you a replacement GM and get you guys moving. I have two games starting so I cannot take it, but I bet we can find you someone. Can you give us a link to the game?

For the Society!!!
I am on my first break at work right now but I am ready and willing to help out!! I will be checking back at lunch time (About an Hour and a half) and will look over your current progress.
I think I have a slide deck if not does anyone have one I could 'Borrow' with no intention of returning ;)
Though I have never adopted a game before but am ready to learn how.
GM Hmm |
Make a copy of Red's Slide Show and go! The first step is checking the pulse in gameplay. The second step is sending a courtesy note to the GM in question!
Hmm
Starfinder GM Red |
Yes, please do copy away and use it as you will :) I'm glad to help the community out!

Thank you, GM Poblano Pepper.
You are most Welcome Redalia, I have sent a PM to GM Aeon, Placed a post on your Discussion board for The Commencement table and have setup my things on my side should I need to step in.
Hope i am doing this right ;)
Star Master Xynen |
Given all of the above I am in a similar position with this game here and believe we could use a new GM.
I am unsure what is going on with the original GM and hope they are alright, but they also have games set to start this Friday, which might now be abandoned and may leave a few Gameday posters suddenly without a game to play.

Good morning Xynen.
I am happy to step in and host your game if you need a replacement GM. If you could kindly clear it with your table that they are happy for a replacement GM, and then let me know when you are ready to continue :)

More broadly, there appear to be a few games running, this looks like a massive derail imminent. I have some more bandwidth for a couple more games if other players end up in the same boat... let me know if other people ALSO need a GM.
Sedoriku's Pregen of the Month |
We might also need a GM to step in for a Claim to Salvation that's been stuck in space for a bit.
Hmm, that bit about games set to start is also worrying. How many games and what kind of games were they? (Sorry, I don't have enough time to try hunting that down right now, but it might be important to have that information here.)

Having a game saved by you Shifty almost seems like a right of passage on these forums. I'd love if you could host, thanks!
It's only so I can fire up the theme song
Let me know if your team is good to go.

Same offer, clear it with your guys and let me know the score.

I only have a three-day work absence coming up at the end of this month (27-29) then it's pretty clear the rest of the year.
GM Poblano Pepper |
Not to intentionally call out anyone in particular but it appears that all three games mention above are/were being GMed by the same person.
Here are the others Tables the above mentioned is set to run as well but appears to not have coverage at the moment.
Fugitive on the Red Planet Starts 10/06
Yesteryears Truth Starts 10/06
I saw two other tables that look as if we have some great GMs filling in for the absent GM.
kuey |
Not directly related, but that player is in my table of Solstice Scar and has also stopped posting for the last week.
Of those games, I only own The Commencement and seems someone has already stepped in for that. However, I took a quick look at the other games that he/she is running in the campaign page and it seems that they have all paused since 27 Sep (both SFS and PFS). I wouldn't mind stepping in for one of them in the players request, e.g. Phantom Phenomena that I've prepped for slot 2, or Into the Unknown that I'm completing right now.
GM Hmm |
November 17th. Every gameday, we have at least one GM for whom real life rears its ugly head, and then we have to rescue their games. When you have this many GMs participating, it's not surprising. I hope he's okay, and that everything sorts itself out for him. Thanks for everyone who is stepping in!

Hi, for all the GMs that have or are going to run 1-00, you may know about the confusion on applying the Chronicle Sheets after playing with level 4 Pregens.
We now have this small clarification from Our Space Overlord himself.

Some exciting news on how to get access to some of the new 22 races in the upcoming Alien Archives.
I'm wondering whether online play would qualify under the Regional Convention Support. Which "mega region" would we fall under? :P
As for the Player Focused Boon, also wondering how to get the GMs to sign off virtually? Scan, send over, GM sign, scan and send back?
Shifty |
We aren't a part of the RSP program, we can get Convention support though for Game Days and events, and under the Online community umbrella.
The new boon will be a struggle for Online play as it requires the one form to be initialled repeatedly (which the player has) and is also restrospective by all appearances...
GM Hmm |
I see I’m going to be adding another form to my PBP GM Kit. It looks like I’m going to have to start organizing stuff into sub-folders soon.
Thursty did assure me that we’d be part of it, though. So, let’s figure out how we want to handle it. It might be possible to do this without the scanning, but we’d still be exchanging a PDF. This means that I’ll likely reopen my table of Claim to Salvation long enough to get all their forms initialed.
And yes, it is retrospective. So players with information may want to fill it out, keep it in their own google drive along with scans of previous chronicle sheets... Let’s try to figure out a way to do this that is not onerous, and that makes sense for us.
Hmm
Spacefarer Redelia |
Could there be a simple PDF that we fill out and sent to players that gives them permission to initial one line for themselves? That avoids the back and forth, and instead only the GM has to send something to the player, but that's already true of the chronicle.
GM Hmm |
Okay, so I have just shoved the current boon into the PBP GM Kit for now, and will figure out if more organization is needed later. And I am looking into options. Here’s a lifehacker article about getting forms signed. Has anyone tried out any of these programs or apps yet?
I am tempted to give them a go in one of my games and see which one might work best for it.
Hmm
PS I made a post on the Cantina thread about how the Online Region figures into all of this.
GM Fuzzfoot |
I use a program called Nitro Reader 3 - allows text and signatures. The only thing I wish it had was the ability to draw free form things like lines and circles. I just make a really big O to do a circle, and lines of Xs to mark out things.
Magabeus |
I have a picture of my initials that I use for signing chronicles for online play, that saves a lot of printing and scanning.
GM Hmm |
I don't ever print and scan. What I see us doing a lot of is downloading and editing. I think it could be an interesting exercise Magabeus for the two of us to fill out a mock (and obviously fake) test version of one of those boons between us and see how long it takes to pass it back and forth.
With Adobe Reader, the initials could be a secondary signature. So I think we could make each version ineditable for what has gone before while still allowing players and other GMs to fill out the rest. The key problem that I foresee in all this is Version Control -- Knowing which Version is the current and correct one.
Maybe renaming the boon with the current date, so that previous versions can be deleted from Google Drive?
Hmm
Magabeus |
Yes, let's do a trial run. We will discuss this off-line (not really, off-forum is a better term).
Gang, hang in there, we will get back to you.
DM Kludde |
For my chronicles i use a nodejs based script - the signature is just a ‘dmk’ at the bottom - and it must be possible to modify it to accept these boons.
Do i understand correctly that being a gm does not grant a signature on this boon?
GM Gustavef |
So now that I survived my first PbP SFS game, I am good to start one.
Anyone have any requests. I can run any of the scenarios/quests (not up for running the AP yet)

I play both in person and online with the same character frequently. Would it be ok to ask the gm for permission to initial my paper boon on my their behalf and include a printout of the page where they post their permission?
Magabeus |
DebugAMP,
Note that this is a per player boon, not a per character boon. We will also come back to your question.

This is kind of an annoying admin step though, when every game you now have to add in editing half a dozen extra PDF's.
If this system is right, I now have about 50 forms coming my way to complete, sign, and email back to their owners. That sucks.
Surely a more elegant way to do business would be for the player to write on the sheet which scenario they played and the date on which they played it. The player can back that up easily enough by pulling out the relevant chronicle sheets if required.
That is no less secure than any other system, and can also be easily audited by looking at their played game history in their Paizo account.

Might also consider not only renaming with the PDF but also GM's placing the date signed next to their signature too within the chronicle.

Point, although the issue still stands since my in-person GM will be signing the physical paper, and I'll need my online GM to do likewise.
I'd be more than happy as a GM to say in the discussion board 'I, DebugAMP, being of debatable mind and body, hereby authorize the following players to sign their boon cards on my behalf: Magabeus (SFS XXXXX), Shifty (SFS XXXXX), and HMM (SFS XXXXX). Please retain a reference to this thread (URL, Screenshot, or printed copy) as proof.'
Magabeus |
Thanks Debug, but you should never allow Shifty to sign something on your behalf. He has that nick for a reason!
Working on a solution, but it is now bedtime for me. To be continued.
Tyranius |
I made an editable version of the Alien Archive Chronicle (Link) So if you save it to your drive and send the GM your link he should be able to just download, initial and send it back. Or just give you the go ahead to do it for them.
Shifty |
Looking at the form (including the one I am signing for Tyranius) there really seems to be no real need for the GM to actually sign/initial/smoke-signal onto it. They can apparently stamp, punch, draw, or use Reiki on the form according to the directions.
Seems like as long as the player has the individual sessions on their history it is just as reliable and auditable - even more so than the PFS faction goals which are really untrackable.
