The main social arc is going to consist of three groups all vying for one position on the Council of Sun and Sky. What you do and who you decide to help/hinder will have an effect on this.
There will be a fair bit of dungeon delving and, as one would expect, traps are going to be a frequent hassle.
There will also be personal character arcs for your companions should you choose to follow them.
The setting is Osirion, but I'm playing a bit loose with continuity. The past will be mostly the same, the present might veer off.
I'm trying for a balance of combat, social, and stealth themes.

I am still debating class. Is combat going to be important/needed enough that an investigator won't cover it or will I be able to hire big beefy guys to be meatshields for me?
I am thinking a fairly self-centered character, but not quite evil. Maybe chaotic neutral? or maybe just true neutral since he wants political power?

Okay, I dug through and found the creation rules.
25 point buy
5th level
Max HP at first level, average (round up) thereafter
Background Skills
Any class that has 2+Int skill points and is not an Int-based class gets 4+Int instead
Any class that has more than 2+Int skill points and is an Int-based class gets 2+Int instead
2 traits, 1 drawback (for a total of 3 traits, 1 drawback). The drawback is optional for you.
I prefer the Unchained classes to their standard versions, but we can use PFS rules in that the only required Unchained is Summoner
Any Paizo published race/class/archetype/etc is allowed
Third party stuff is subject to my approval
Automatic Bonus Progression
Half WBL
For building, just build what you want to play. You'll have access to six (out of twelve) NPC party members depending on which faction you align yourself with. Each faction (and the unaffiliated group) has one Warrior-type NPC, one Rogue-type NPC, and one Mage-type NPC, so you can do some party customization.
As far as alignment, what you're describing sounds like either True Neutral or Neutral Evil. I will shift your alignment if you behave certain ways, but it's not a punishment, just a reflection of your behavior.

I have it mostly done. He is a Investigator (Scavenger)Link. What do you think about him owning a construct of some sort, assuming he can afford it? If not, I'd like getting a golem to be a minor character goal for him.
Here is some first draft character stuff. Tell me if you dislike it.
Maqej is a being at war with himself. On one-hand the ifirit has a magical heritage that cannot be denied, the blood of efreet's travel in his veins. This elemental connection urges him to be restless, fickle, impulsive as well as opening a door to magical secrets. Set against this is his own will and mind. For long years he has strove to master his feelings, to make his emotions submit to him, to dominate this wild and magical beast within. Through logic, intellect and cold rationality, he seeks to douse and channel the flames of his soul.
This dominating aspect in not just internal. After spending so long teaching self to discipline himself, he has become overly proud and self-centered on his own achievements. Others are merely pawns or obstacles to his own power. He rationalizes his quest for power, of course, that only he is smart enough, disciplined enough to wield it fully but really it is just a vice, a lust for control over others.
For all this he is not truly evil, for evil's sake. The most extreme and cruel punishments are often the most inefficient, wasteful and useless. While the moral content matters little to him, he knows when to use a velvet glove over an iron fist, or when soft words can sway a spirit.
That said, he has not totally locked his emotions away. His ifrit spirit is strong and hard to subdue and will escape his iron control. A passing injustice may stir him to deep compassion or gloating cruelty, depending on how it strikes him. He punishes himself for these lapses, but they still happen.
The magic which flows wildly in his kind has been made to submit to his control. For years Maqej has dedicated himself to the use of technology to channel magic to his will, not its own strange habits. He has become an accomplished master at he art of magical creation, making all manner of small magical objects. In the back of his mind he yearns to create a golem or construct of greater power but for now his skills and resources, fall short.
Also, can you make the gameplay thread (even if just blank) so I can dot it? Would be very helpful.

Not 100% sold on the avatar but beggars can't be choosers. Just need to pick feats and gear, should have him up tonight.
And yeah 1/2 WBL rules out a construct but hopefully you'll give me chance to earn some cash? if you don't, I'll melt down your rails and build be a Plot-golem!

One day we'll have to get you a better metal snake. And I'll post the introduction momentarily.
| GM VikingIrishman |
I think it's best if we treat the snake as a golem.
Being mindless, golems do nothing without orders from their creators. They follow instructions explicitly and are incapable of complex strategy or tactics. A golem’s creator can command it if the golem is within 60 feet and can see and hear its creator. If uncommanded, a golem usually follows its last instruction to the best of its ability, though if attacked it returns the attack. The creator can give the golem a simple command to govern its actions in his absence, or can order the golem to obey the commands of another, but the golem’s creator can always resume control by commanding the golem to obey him alone.
So, if you command the snake to deliver an item, I'd say it goes to the person, drops the item, and awaits further instruction.
