What's our climb DC here? If it's 5 or less Kushiel will take 10 and make it. If it's 10, then he will need aid another to succeed on a 10 ... that work?

Digging through the pack Tarra grabs a sunrod and the potion of vanish.
" Hmmm. Not gonna bother." She says eyeing the rope.
Getting a run at it she flips through the air to land on the other side of the pit.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
was gonna tight rope walk, but jumping was easier DC

Leena not feeling agile, will grab the backpack crawl across the rope, wrapping her legs around the rope while handing upside down.

"Been a while since I did climbing drills. Lets see if I still got it."

Climb: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

I'll go with 10. Why not?

Maldrek will move across as well. Taking 10 for a total of 13

Everyone gets across without incident and is able to continue through the passages beyond. After the first bend, you find a plank roughly 15 feet long and a foot wide. Footprints and boot scuffs can be seen on it, showing that it has been used to walk on over something.

The tunnels continue on, leading deeper beneath the Kortos Mounts until they eventually open into a large cavern. What must have once been beautifully carved reliefs and inscriptions have since weathered heavily, their features dulled and softened to the point that it is hard to distinguish what each once depicted. A wide tunnel exits the cavern on its far side, and blue-burning torches line the passageway’s walls.

Kushiel tries to read the writing on the walls ...

Though all he has is perception (and arcana)

Kushiel notices one of the lesser eroded paintings and makes out some shapes and sees some mysterious text accompanying it. (Aquan and Azlanti) It depicts a man herding animals out of a crowded city to the pastures beyond.

"Hundar ... ukteh gerget ... lorest .... bah! I can't make heads or tails of this!",

Tarra will examine and take one of the blue torches, if they are removable.
" Hey! This is cool, they burn funny. And pretty too."

Leena pauses for a moment and examines the painting for while, but can not understand the text.

Which way do you suppose we should head?

Leena casts Detect Magic.

The torches are indeed removable.

Leena picks up the faintest of faint divine magic from the cave walls all around.

Scarvane looks at the drawings on the walls, but is not able to make much out of them

Forgot to mention this before, but it is actually a Knowledge (religion) or Perception when looking at the walls.

Maldrek scratches his head looking at the walls. I don't get it.

Leena can barely contain the excitement in her voice, as she turns to to tell the rest of the party.
"I think these caves hold some religous importance to the gillmen. I am detecting some faight divine magic from these walls. The gillmen most likely come to the caves every full moon for some sort of ritual. I am curious to what it is, this is why i want to be a Pathfinder."

After Leena's words of wisdom Scarvane peers a little closer at the walls text, but sees the same pictures as he did before.

" What's all the fuss?"
Tarra asks as she approaches the walls, carrying her new blue light everburning torch.
" Watcha lookin' at?"

Tarra looks at the walls and sees an image of what look to be merchants, weighing and trading coins of different sizes.

" Looks like some sorta money changer. Not sure of the religious significance of that? Abodar maybe?"

Scarvane peers at another image. This one is a little more clearer but not by much.

Scarvane is unable to makes heads or tails of the drawings on the wall.

How would the party like to proceed?

Perhaps we shall continue on in the tunnels if there is nothing else to look at. Scarvane looks to the others before proceeding forward.

The party proceeds further into the caves.

The soft light of the surrounding fungus mixes with the flickering glow of the nearby torches to reveal a grand chamber. A large pool of water along the chamber’s southern edge reflects the blue and green radiance to illuminate the massive stalactites that cling to the ceiling overhead. Two other tunnels branch off from this area, leading to the east and west.

Rising up from the pool is a column of rock with steeply sloped sides and a flat top, as if someone had sawn off the top of a massive stalagmite. A miniature city carved from this same stone occupies nearly the entire surface. Tiny trinkets such as ancient coins, polished semiprecious stones, and ornately braided loops of string are scattered throughout the diorama, and pale cave frogs clamber atop it. The smooth cavern floor is covered in gravel and pebbles along the edge of the pool, and several foot-long centipedes prowl among the gravel in their search for prey.

Within the pool is what you can only guess to be a gillman, sitting serenely in the shallows, eyes closed in meditation. He does not move at your approach.

Yeah was gonna rush to check out the mini city, til it said foot long centipedes...
Tarra will follow the others in, holding the blue light high as she can... so others can see...

Oh, I'm sure they're nice and friendly! You'll be fine!

Actually, it's the floors of the cavern what crawl with the centipedes, not the model.

Punching his hands together as if ready for a fight Maldrek moves up to the gillman placing a hand on his shoulder as if either ready to sucker punch him or just turn him around. He says in a booming voice [/b]hey![/b]

The instant Maldrek's boot touches the water, the gillman's eyes shoot open. Seeing an intimidating approach, he draws a weapon and prepares to defend himself.

Basically if you move forward any more we're going into initiative.

How does the party proceed?

Scarvane holds his hands in the air in front of him. Speaking in a calm voice to the gillman. "Wait! we don't mean you any harm. We just want to know more about the caves.

Yes please tell us more about these caves, I am genuinely interested in hearing what you know.

The gillman studies you in turn as if trying to decipher what you are saying. Finally, with a mumbled tone of a deaf man, he responds, "You trespass on this holy site, approach with hostility, then dare ask questions of me?"

Yeah, this guy is gonna take some persuading. Diplomacy!

Kushiel steps forward, arms spread non-threateningly, "Easy gillman, some of my companions are a little brash, but we mean you no harm. We are just a group of Pathfinders seeking information ... and shelter from a minotaur!"

diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

Scarvane glances over. "It would seem that your cloak matches the same as the one we found within the pit on the way in."

Digging through his bag he produces the cloak to show the gillman.

Party up! Not gonna bother rolling init. This guy's is horrible.

Kushiel cannot seem to reach where he thinks the gillman was. The water squares count as difficult terrain.

Maldrek calls out to the fog around him, and hears a slight chuckle coming from somewhere further in.

Scarvane, Leena, and Tarra are up!

" What? Wait! guys! Janira said the Gillmen were mostly harmless and not our foes!"
Tarra exclaims as she rushes toward the water, torch held high, weaponless in her off hand.
" Please stop! We don't really mean you any harm..."

A 17 diplomacy roll didn't make it. This is going to be bad

I thought Janira said these were peaceful creatures..... We really mean you no harm. We do not wish to harm this sacred place at all. The Tiefling says while still holding his hands in the air. [b]I do not wish to fight you.

"Then leave, hellspawn!"

Leena up!

Lena sheathes her sword.

We truly do not mean you harm. We aree just here to learn about these caves.

The gillman's voice carries through the mist, "Then be on your merry."

Party up. You can either stay and endure his wrath or continue on.

Yes, let us just talk Scarvane looks upon the gillman with a pleasant smile.

The smile is lost to the obscuring mist. It is unlikely he will listen. (Unless you want to keep up diplomacy for 8 more rounds?)

Just a quick note that there are still two encounters and only one week left until Gen Con. For the tieflings and aasimars, time runs short.
