All right, ready to rock and roll. Anaxian has the devil's glitterdust taken care of, so I'll start working on the chamber with the high priest. Is everyone correctly placed on the map?

If so, I can haste everyone (except either Illia or Iranaset, who are too separated) in one of the pre combat round. My other pre-combat buffs include mage armor and unseen servant (ho-hum).

During the surprise round, I will have the unseen servant open the door to the meditation chamber with the stolen key and move to glitterdust inside at the first opportunity.

Female Half-Dragon Elf

Surprise Round
Swift action: Burn 1 arcane pool point to make my blade keen
Mirror Image: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 75% miss chance

Round 1
Swift Action: Arcane Accuracy (+5 Atk)
Free Action: Black Blade Strike (+1 to Atk/Dmg)
Move Action: Flyby attack to cast Frostbite on the move and hit the bone devil with spellstrike (frostbite).will work out spacing details later
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (17) + 21 = 38
Confirm Critical: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (4) + 21 = 25 unless otherwise noted, I think that matches its AC
Scimitar Damage: 2d6 + 26 ⇒ (4, 5) + 26 = 35 if the crit doesn't take, use the first dice roll and add half of the static damage
Rime Frostbite(Nonlethal): 2d6 + 14 ⇒ (6, 5) + 14 = 25 takes 15 nonlethal damage, fatigued until nonlethal damage healed, entangled until the next round.
Demoralize(Enforcer): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19 is not demoralized... yet

M Half-drow ghost summoner 7

So, uh, is anyone taking out our actual target?

Besides me, I mean. Somehow, the idea of an undead ghost trying to solo a high level cleric seems amusing, if I weren't the undead ghost in question.

Illia isn't exactly responsible for Iranaset not following orders, TSG, but you raise an excellent point.

Also, Iranaset, did you include your bonuses from haste and Illia? Those +1's might make a big difference if he has some small buffs.

Bwuh... Uh.. Change of plans! Drisquar, Shimsil! You're on the target! Make an angelic show before you go if you like, but get in there before he starts casting.

Surprise round.
Move action next directly next to the bone devil and reveal self in shimmery "angelic" glory.

"PALADINS! TO ARMS! EVIL STALKS YOUR HALLS!"

Round 1
Defensive Full Round Attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 221d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 311d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Any damage rolls: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 91d8 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 91d8 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Le no. Still, that should be a mild pittance of 3 damage! Wooh, go Illia!

Anyway, thanks to haste and defensive combat. Illia's AC goes up to 40, Touch 23, and designating the Osyluth as the target for her Osyluth's Guile her AC vs him raises to AC 46, Touch 29.

Rocks fall, everyone dies

Alright, Iranaset's Round 1 action will resolve after everyone's taken their surprise actions and the NPCs get a move. I'll go with the standard wait-a-day-or-more-before-botting.

So far:

Initiative (surprise round; everybody acts)
Illia (attacked)
TSG (opened door)
Mal
Drisquar
Osyluth (surprised)
Paladins (surprised)
Shimsil
Iranaset (cast mirror image)
Delyliath
Anaxian (cast glitterdust)

Will save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

The Osyluth resists blinding, but is still outlined in shimmery dust, appearing as a sort of giant, startled, spiky glitter skeleton monster. The paladins are confused.

Meanwhile, the second TSG opens the door, the priest looks up at him, eyes widening in sudden recognition. He instantly stands, rising from his meditation, as though something triggered immediate alertness and reaction on his part. Anyone able to see through the door notices that he is a surprisingly small and unimposing man, with no weapons or armor. His left hand twitches slightly.

A telepathic message is immediately heard by everyone he can see (Mal, Iranaset, Delyliath, TSG, Anaxian). ”Agents of darkness," it asks, "Were you sent by my master, to aid me or test me?”

The priest will move on the same initiative as the Osyluth (I close to the same for him and decided to just simplify this), but he also gets to act during the surprise round, which he uses to cast a spell on the room he's in.

Spellcraft (DC 22):
The priest cast Repulsion, with a radius equal to the size of the room.

Rocks fall, everyone dies

Oh, also:

All of Illia's first-round attacks will connect with the surprised Osyluth. (It's flat-footed still, because she beat it in initiative) Only the last will overcome its damage reduction to dent the creature at all.

Diamond (CR +2) Soulbolt 7 (HP: 151/81; AC 16*; Fort 7 - Ref 10 - Will 10; Perception +15)

1d8 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32
1d8 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Using two attacks as a standard action by expending psionic focus during the surprise round.

Two ghostly blades (+2 ghost touch) fly at the priest.

The ghost raised his hands and began intoning the words of a spell.

If you can't use the telepathic channels, don't talk while we're trying to keep the enemy in the dark. And yes, if the Crimson Stranger was sending us here to have our souls feed some ritual or something, YES, it matters!

Male Alacritous Bralani Stalker 5/Umbral Blade 4

Swirling dust slowly coalesces into the form of a Bralani Azata, hair blowing a bit wildly by a breeze that doesn't truly exist. Will post attacks once I am home from work

Rocks fall, everyone dies

Pretty sure enough of the party has telepathy (or can relay messages) that I'll assume (at least for now) everyone is talking mentally, but good point.

Also, Shimsil's attacks hit the priest squarely in the chest, causing him to stagger with surprise.

"Oh, no, no," you hear the priest mutter, mostly to himself, but loudly enough that anyone nearby can probably hear. "No words. Here to kill me."

And, telepathically to the party (because hey, talking is a free action, and maybe telepathy lets you compress thoughts) So you serve one of them, then? Asmodeus, most likely? But you found me so fast... and now I can't let you leave here alive.

"I should have known it was going to be a mess.. " Thought Delyliath.
She wasn't the heavy hitter, or at least she wasn't supposed to be.
So she tried to do what she could to tip the balance over her team.
While acting all disoriented and surprised like the other priests and paladins would be she tried to summon a Babau on the room nearby.
Whatever the priest was planning it probably involved divine magic.
She hoped a babau would be able to dispel it.

Rocks fall, everyone dies

Okay. Time to resolve a bunch of rounds of actions!

Surprise round

Illia- shouts to the paladins for help. They hear her, and are too surprised by the appearance of an angel and devil in their citadel to actually question what's going on.

TSG opens the door to the Meditation Room.

Mal moves towards the priest (since it is the surprise round, he can only charge a max of 20 feet, and the priest is 25 away)

The Osyluth is surprised.

The paladins are surprised.

The priest responds with some psychic messages, and then casts a spell.
SR check (DC 19): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14 And Mal resists the spell. Others might be able to resist it as well if they move into its AoE.

Shimsil hits the priest with mind bolts for 31 damage. (forgot to account for warlord bonus before, fixed that) The priest responds by telepathically telling everyone that he's going to kill you.

Iranaset casts mirror image, gaining 3 copies of herself.

Delyliath begins summoning a Babau. No NPCs in the Citadel have enough Sense Motive to call her bluff, even on a natural 20.

Anaxian glitterdusts the Osyluth. It's now mad sparkly, and at least a few of the Paladins recognize exactly what it is.

Will resolve round 1 in a moment.

Rocks fall, everyone dies

Ah, forgot to roll Illia-'s will save.

Will save (DC 19): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Illia easily shrugs off the Osyluth's fear effect.

Rocks fall, everyone dies

And Anaxian just pointed out the Babau was successfully summoned. I'll roll a dispel check for it to save time.

Dispel check (DC 24): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 And the aura remains, at least for this round.

Rocks fall, everyone dies

Round 1 actions:

Illia- makes a full attack against the Osyluth, dealing 3 damage through the devil's DR. It grunts in mild annoyance, and also in surprise at the fact that there are angels attacking it out of nowhere.

TSG fires off a spell. I don't think you remembered to post what the spell was. It'll resolve retroactively when you do, or if you change your mind after seeing what happened in the surprise round.

Mal moves to attack the priest with his holy mace, dealing 19 damage. The priest looks rather injured at this point.

Drisquar charges the Osyluth, dealing another 3 damage through its DR. It's barely chipped, but now it looks a lot more angry.

The Osyluth strikes back, splitting its attacks between its attackers.

Bite (vs Illia-): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Claw (vs Illia-): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Claw (vs Drisquar): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Stinger (vs Drisquar): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
Damage: 3d4 + 5 ⇒ (1, 2, 1) + 5 = 9

I'm pretty sure none of those attacks go through, wow.

The paladin in the shiniest armor bellows, at the top of his lungs, "To arms, men! Devils are attacking the High Priest, but he's summoned a company of angels to protect us!"

The paladins all move towards the Osyluth, but none of them can charge it this turn because of all the pillars in the way.

The high priest tumbles past Mal, with surprising dexterity.
Acrobatics (DC 18): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30 No AoO
He then casts a spell, summoning... another Osyluth. This one acts immediately, blindly lashing out at Malefeasance with a full attack.

Bite (vs Mal): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Claw (vs Mal): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Claw (vs Mal): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Stinger (vs Mal): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32
Damage: 3d4 + 5 ⇒ (1, 3, 1) + 5 = 10

Ouch! I believe that's 17 damage to Mal, although its poison isn't going to do anything.

Iranaset charges the first Osyluth as a flyby attack, dealing 50 damage! and entangling it. It makes an AoO against her with its stinger.
Stinger (vs Iranaset): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16 and misses
Damage: 3d4 + 5 ⇒ (3, 4, 2) + 5 = 14

Meanwhile, forgot to roll will saves for Drisquar and Iranaset (it's not a paralysis effect)

Will Save (Drisquar): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Well, this is awkward. Drisquar failed the will save, and after attacking the Osyluth is now panicked.

I'm going to say that, as an evil outsider, the effect of the fear on Drisquar will realistically only last the minimum duration (1 round) until he gets a grip on himself.

Drisquar drops everything he is holding (Shimsil) and will spend his next turn fleeing (he's panicked).

Will Save (Iranaset): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Iranaset is fine.

Knowing the new bone devil would vanish in a moment, Anaxian acted quickly.

More glitterdust! DC 19 Will or be Blinded.

If possible I'd like to target the spell so that it only hits the enemies, and not Mal.

Still invisible (glitter dust doesn't count as an offensive spell).

Rocks fall, everyone dies

Oh, I know. It's just that will saves tend to have a much bigger effect than the other ones, and I forgot that sometimes it's better to let the party roll those.

Glitterdust is a 10' radius spell, so Anaxian manages to target it to hit both the priest and the new Osyluth.

Will save (Osyluth): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Will save (priest): 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (18) + 18 = 36

Anaxian manages to blind the new Osyluth, and reveal it. The priest is just sparkly.

Mal's charge provokes an attack of opportunity from the Osyluth.

Stinger (vs Mal): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Damage: 3d4 + 5 ⇒ (1, 3, 3) + 5 = 12
Concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 87

Actually, I mentioned that I was casting glitterdust at the first opportunity. But Mal's in the way.

Since that's not possible and in the interests of avoiding fratricidal friendly fire.... I'm a summoner, that's what I do, so put 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 celestial leopards on the board as a standard-action summon.

Put two of them in a position to charge/pounce/rake the priest, and two in a position to charge/pounce/rake the original bone devil as I have no idea that the new one is showing up. Attacks as follows:
Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Rear claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Rear claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Rear claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Rear claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Rear claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Rear claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Rear claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Rear claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

And four grapple checks if needed (from grab ability associated with the bites):
Priest 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Devil 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16

I don't think they get the attack/damage bonuses from everyone's bonuses, so they're not included. On the other hand, since these are celestial, they will be using Smite Evil.... I assume that will work on the Osyluth but I have no idea what the priest's alignment is.

ETA: oh, just noticed one potential crit among the fourth leopard's attacks. Thus,
Rear claw confirmation: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17; if successful, damage doubles.

Round 2: I (personally) 5' step away from the osyluth in front of me and attempt to cast glitterdust on it (DC 20 Will save to negate blindness) I think I can move and angle to avoid hitting Mal.

Attack, my minions! Shred them! Same targets

Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Rear claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Rear claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

And four grapple checks if needed (from grab ability associated with the bites):
Priest 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Devil 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27

Delyliath telepathically speaks with the babau
"You are our last line of defence. hide, come to this room and make sure no paladin comes our way."
then she speaks with the priest, sending the same words to her companions to let them know her offer.

"you are unmatched priest. fight us and you will suffer a painful death. release your minion, surrender to me and I'll give you such pleasure that you would not mind giving your life for it."

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 Will save, not sure if that passes or not. I realize I totally forgot to finish spending my gold :(

you should enchant a bag of holding or portable hole into my hilt!

Rocks fall, everyone dies

Ah, TSG, you got off glitterdust in the surprise round, then I thought you were casting another spell after that.

In any case, the Priest was preparing to cast Dictum, which would've stunned half the party and unsummoned everything you guys had called. But those leopards killed him super-dead in their second round of attacks, before he got a chance to act.

Drisquar is, in fact, affected by the Osyluth's fear aura; but it doesn't matter, because he took enough damage from Iranaset's attack that he was planning to teleport away anyway (summons called with planar ally have a tendency to do this), and as soon as the priest falls, he goes back to Hell, ending the fear effect.

If you guys want to try and kill the Osyluth before he teleports away, that's fine, everyone threatening him gets another round of attacks I believe.

And don't worry—there will be more combat sooner rather than later.

When the paladins see the Osyluth teleport away, they begin to run towards the Meditation Room to check on the high priest. Currently, his body is surrounded by four celestial leopards, their claws covered in blood, and one very confused glittery Osyluth which is sparring with the priestly-disguised and holy-mace-wielding Malefeasance.

You've got about one round of actions each before they make it to within sight of that room.

Bluff Check: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31

"Paladin! Chosen of Sarenrae! Retrieve that scimitar, it is a mighty tool of Good! Use it and smite the evil with the Dawnflower's Swift Justice and heal with her Flame!" Illia calls out to the super special paladin in reference to Shimsil, complete with dramatic pointing!

This, mwhahahaha! I waited until I rolled in order to know whether I should have her confidently belt it out, or bumble along if I rolled like a 2 or something.

Also, Drisuqar and Illia act before the paladins, so when Drisquar fails save in first round, Illia should be able to say this before they take their move, which means for the paladin in question, he doesn't have to double back for it, but can pick it up on his way.

The ghost disappears into a wall to await developments. I'm thinking just to dismiss the cats, as they can't really do much against the summoned Osyluth's DR, but if some obviously-celestial cats will help sell the fight against an obvious devil, I can keep them around.

Oops, wasn't aware of what was going on.

::So did someone have appropriate anti-resurrection tricks? Or do we do this the old fashioned way with a funeral pyre?::

Rocks fall, everyone dies

Paladin's will save (DC 31): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

And Shimsil's got a pretty good grip on the mind of the paladin leader (treat this as a charm person effect, with one of the things you can command him to do being turning the sword over to someone else).

Assuming the cats are dismissed, a few of the paladins run into the meditation room, smite the summoned Osyluth, and it immediately runs out the door and teleports away.

And, bending down to check on the corpse, one of them shouts to the others, "He's dead, but just barely. We'll need to wake up the old healer immediately!"

TSG: I believe Mal had some soul-trapping spell prepared.

(to the pally holding me)::It would be wise to compensate the angels, lest they think you ungrateful.::

Rocks fall, everyone dies

The paladin walks over to Drisquar and Illia-, who appear the most angelic of the group.

"I thank you and your party for saving us from those devils, O celestials," he says, "Though I am saddened the High Priest has fallen. Perhaps he can be revived him soon."

"Since I would guess he did not have time to present you with the proper offerings when he summoned you, I am sure we at this Citadel of the Dawnflower would be happy to provide you with the appropriate incense, gemstones, and objects of art, if you are willing to wait around for an hour or two while we gather it."
