I hoped to get a post up before I left for the camping trip, but am running out of time. Hopefully I'll still get time today, but internet might not be available. Hate to keep you guys in suspense, but usually I can get to the internet faster. Might actually be refreshing to not have internet for a while...

Things to review before the potential combat situation.

  • Everyone has (3) Action Points to spend in each round of combat. Please review the combat action rules to speed things along. It is usually wise to save at least one AP for a dodge or Parry action.
  • Many of you will be taking psychic damage from this horrible scene. I'll roll for the damage, but it might be wise to refresh your knowledge of the damage rules for the game, as they're a bit different from most systems.
  • Also, keep in mind this is a dark gritty world, so running away and/or hiding is always a viable option. This also applies to whoever you're fighting.

Female Human (Furgen) Envoy | Peril (Threshold 7/13/19/25): Unhindered | Damage (Threshold 4/10/16/22): Lightly Wounded | Initiative: 8 | Movement: 6 | Fate Points: 2 | Corruption: 0

I'll review everything, including Gameplay in a moment. Apologies for my own absence.

Back in the United States and getting caught up on all my games. Sorry for any delay caused by my absence.

Current map Raven Town Map God Infinity........

I'm back from my wilderness adventure. Will get up a post either tonight (kind'a tired), or tomorrow. Should be good to go from then.

Male Human Hedge Knight | Peril (Threshold 7/13/19/25): Unhindered | Damage (Threshold 8/14/20/26): Seriously Wounded | Initiative: 8 | Movement: 6 | Fate Points: 2 | Corruption: 0

As we've fought before as a company - and as an easy reminder for our good GM - keep in mind the following talents that Brunhard has;

Hedge Knight Talent: Gatecrasher: When you Take Aim and then make a successful Melee Attack, add 3 Damage.

In short you'll know he's typically a measured combatant, who hits like a train.

Hedge Knight Talent: Impenetrable Wall: Opponents do not gain an advantage (such as additional Damage or bonuses to strike) when they flank, outnumber or surround you in combat.

Means don't be too worried about Brunhard taking on multiple foes or being surrounded... at least for short periods.

Hi Guys. Thanks for your patience. Life threw me a few curveballs last week, but I eked out a base hit, so I'll get up a post late this afternoon or this evening. First post is kind of long, as I have to implement several things, but after that my schedule slows down for a while, and should be able to get the momentum back rolling again.

Again, sorry for the delay, but I'm ready to resume after work / football today.

Male Human Hedge Knight | Peril (Threshold 7/13/19/25): Unhindered | Damage (Threshold 8/14/20/26): Seriously Wounded | Initiative: 8 | Movement: 6 | Fate Points: 2 | Corruption: 0

Regards the scene before us and the ensuing battle - wouldn't Skeggi's Indifference talent apply to this scenario? As written in the rulebook below it would seem to apply to exactly what we're up against...

INDIFFERENCE: You’ve grown accustomed to the battlefield and the smell of rotting corpses doesn’t bother you. (isn't this what we are, in essence facing?)

Effect: When viewing blood-soaked and visceral scenes of death, you always succeed at Resolve Tests to withstand their potential psychological effects (such as with Stress, Fear and Terror) and don’t suffer Corruption due to such scenes.

(Not trying to second guess you SB - just wasn't sure you'd clocked this/taken it into account? Know the write up suggests you have, but thought I'd ask on behalf of my brother in arms :)

I gave it some careful thought, and decided that this was more a ritualistic sacrifice type situation, not like anything that he would have encountered on a battleground. This is murdered innocents, foul magic, and supernatural events, so I don't think that exposure to the death and carnage of a battlefield would apply here.

Thanks for bring this up however, as I'm still learning the rules as well.

Peril (8/14/20/26): Imperilled | Damage (7/13/19/25): Moderately Wounded | Init: 2d10+8 | Move: 5 | Fate: 1 | Corrupt: 25

So I can make a co-ordination check to avoid the javelin? Or because he beat on on initiative on the first round I don't have any AP yet to spend to dodge?

Current map Raven Town Map God Infinity........

Dodge is a reaction, so you can take at any time.

You guys are lucky. I forgot to add the D6 that all Zweihander weapons have as default. Don't worry I won't forget again. :-)

Ok so since Skeggi failed his resolve, he suffered 7 fear stress (mental peril), which was one higher than his threshold, so he is now imperiled. This has no mechanical effect, other than to bring him one step closer to the next level down (just to make sure I've read the rules correctly. :)

Damn, I forgot the base damage Fury die as well, so I should have rolled 3d6 (base die + charge die + vicious weapon die).

Curious as I am still learning the system, how are the kobolds getting their second die?

Peril (8/14/20/26): Imperilled | Damage (7/13/19/25): Moderately Wounded | Init: 2d10+8 | Move: 5 | Fate: 1 | Corrupt: 25

If I understand it correctly Vicious doesn't add a die to damage. When you hurt somone you can also inflict an injury if you roll a 6 on the d6 per injury level over light. Vicious gives you another dice roll chance to roll a 6.

Note that Fury dice do explode thus Aurelie's total damage.

Oh, and I did forget to add the +1 damage from the wooden shield Murgrim has so his hit was for 14, not 13.

Current map Raven Town Map God Infinity........

Murgrim is correct on the use of the damage dice. I was going to post some rule clarifications today, and this is one of them. I have tables for wounds inflicted, and if they happen using Fury dice, then the results are implemented. Since I have all the charts, I'll roll the Fury dice for injury. You just remind me if there are additional dice rolled (like the vicious quality, and many talents).

A word about Fortune Points. Each session starts out with 1+Number of players Fortune points. They can be used in any of the following ways:

Fortune Points:

  • Immediately after failing a Skill Test, spend a Fortune Point. You may then re-roll to generate a better result, but must accept the outcome.
  • During combat, spend a Fortune Point to gain one additional Action Point on your Turn.
  • Immediately after rolling a D6 Chaos or Fury Die, spend a Fortune Point to treat it as a face value of ‘6’.

Note: that these points don't accrue, but reset at the beginning of each session. I'll probably call a session at opportune times, and reset fortune points, and award experience points.

Misfortune Points
When you spend a fortune point, it goes into the GM's misfortune pool. The GM can then spend these points for NPC's and beasts in the same manner that you spend fortune points.

Fate Points
SACRIFICING FATE POINTS: Fate Points can be sacrificed at any point during a game session to escape Injury and death. They are akin to ‘get out of jail for free cards’, allowing your Character to rewrite the immediate past to change their future.

Fate points are awarded when you climb to the next level of Occupation, and at GM's judgement. They are a valuable resource, so use them wisely. We may implement the Reputation Point rule at some future time, but going to get the basics down pat first.

Not sure what happened here. I made that first post... then it disappeared, so I made the second one. Then all the sudden the first post showed up. I'm sure it was operator error, but I don't know what I did. Oh well... let's just go for the second post now, and I'll get things straightened out. Combat's a little tricky with all the AP's and reactions, but I'll get the hand of it.

Current map Raven Town Map God Infinity........

Weird stuff is happening. For some reason no updates showed in the gameplay thread. I'll get an update later today, to move on to the next deadly round.

Peril (8/14/20/26): Imperilled | Damage (7/13/19/25): Moderately Wounded | Init: 2d10+8 | Move: 5 | Fate: 1 | Corrupt: 25

Er, isnt 6 the one Murgrim put his sword through?

update: Oh, 5 isn't there anymore. Nevermind. Also: Ouch.

Does Murgrim get an attack for the kobold retreating to use the javelin?

Female Human (Furgen) Envoy | Peril (Threshold 7/13/19/25): Unhindered | Damage (Threshold 4/10/16/22): Lightly Wounded | Initiative: 8 | Movement: 6 | Fate Points: 2 | Corruption: 0

Supreme Being, not to throw myself under the bus here, but does anything happen as a result of my Critical Failure, beyond not hitting my target? Just want to check and make sure.

Damn, after rolling my parry, somehow got myself confused on actions in Round 1 versus Round 2. It's a cruel brutal world, guess I lost out on my attack in Round 2. Round 3 looks more promising.

Male Human Hedge Knight | Peril (Threshold 7/13/19/25): Unhindered | Damage (Threshold 8/14/20/26): Seriously Wounded | Initiative: 8 | Movement: 6 | Fate Points: 2 | Corruption: 0

Apologies on my low profile this week - work's been brutal and dealing with pranging my car at the same time...

Current map Raven Town Map God Infinity........

Next post up today. Last week was a rough week for me anyway. We'll get the post counts back up.

Current map Raven Town Map God Infinity........

Going to lunch... then I'll update... finally... when I return. Sorry about that guys.

Current map Raven Town Map God Infinity........

I Know. I know. Somehow when I cut/pasted the posts I put them in the wrong order... but they still make sense.

A note on attacks. If you guys would help me out, and if you have a critical success or failure, mention it in the post... maybe in a spoiler, or OOC so I won't miss it, it would be appreciated. I'll get better at this, but still learning all the rules.

Also, if your weapons used have any special properties, please list them in your profile, so I don't have to keep looking them up.

Thanks.

<<<ROLL CALL>>>

OK. So who is still here. I see that Brunhard and Murgrim have chimed in, is anybody else still around? Are you waiting on me for something? Just let me know if you're still in one way or another. I can move forward with two players, or try to recruit more, or end the game. Just let me know.

Pilgrim | Peril (Threshold 7/13/19/25): Unhindered | Damage (Threshold 5/11/17/23): Moderate | Initiative: 7 | Movement: 7 | Fate Points: 1 | Corruption: 6

Sorry about that, had a really bad head cold, could barely think let alone type...

Apologies, it got very busy over here and I missed that we had resumed.

Current map Raven Town Map God Infinity........

I've PM'd Aurelie and Kurdran to see if they're still with us. If not do you guys want to continue with the four we've got? I'll put up a post in the morning... was giving everyone time to respond. Respond here if you'd like to continue.

Peril (8/14/20/26): Imperilled | Damage (7/13/19/25): Moderately Wounded | Init: 2d10+8 | Move: 5 | Fate: 1 | Corrupt: 25

Happy to continue or recruit more if required.

Pilgrim | Peril (Threshold 7/13/19/25): Unhindered | Damage (Threshold 5/11/17/23): Moderate | Initiative: 7 | Movement: 7 | Fate Points: 1 | Corruption: 6

Easy either way, whatever fits with what you've got planned, GM.

Ditto

Male Human Hedge Knight | Peril (Threshold 7/13/19/25): Unhindered | Damage (Threshold 8/14/20/26): Seriously Wounded | Initiative: 8 | Movement: 6 | Fate Points: 2 | Corruption: 0

More than happy to crack on with the 4 of us, but 6 does give the game a more merc "company" feel.

Ultimately whatever's decided I'm good to go with.

Cheers

Website instability is playing havoc with my posting frequency. I'll try to carve out some time this evening to get caught up. Had some time this morning... but we know how that went.

It is with regret and sadness that I'm going to step away from these boards for a while. It's a combination of many things, and the frustration with the board performance just pushed me to do what needed doing. I've got some things that are taking a higher priority in life at the moment. It's been a real pleasure gaming with you all, and hopefully life will give an opportunity to share this hobby we all love in the future...

Peril (8/14/20/26): Imperilled | Damage (7/13/19/25): Moderately Wounded | Init: 2d10+8 | Move: 5 | Fate: 1 | Corrupt: 25

Thanks for running an enjoyable game.

Male Human Hedge Knight | Peril (Threshold 7/13/19/25): Unhindered | Damage (Threshold 8/14/20/26): Seriously Wounded | Initiative: 8 | Movement: 6 | Fate Points: 2 | Corruption: 0

Thanks for the opportunity Scran - was a great game, loved the system and the setting.

'Tis been a pleasure my friend.

Yeah, this weeks been killer for me as well. Understand the need to prioritize.

For those of you still kicking around, been toying with the idea of converting an old 2nd ed Warhammer campaign to Zweihander...just musing but I'd probably let you guys know first if it happens.

Too bad, but I totally understand. Nice playing with you all. :)

@Nuriah: Would definitely be up for that should you decide to run it - any opportunity to run Brunhard in The Old World would be welcomed (easily see him as a Sigmarite :)
