Gornaks blow hammers down hard, nearly crippling the attacking hound, but it presses forward to sinks savage teeth into him. As it's teeth bite home it's saliva drips into the wound, eroding the will DC14 Will save or be shaken for one round. Aylmora's action.

(Presumably Empty Mind is still active since it's the same round.)

Darn, forgot the other thing they can do on attack. Sorry Gornak! But yes, Empty Mind is still active.

With it's teeth in Gornak's leg the beast tries to yank his balance off-kilter.

... but does not quite succeed. Waiting to see if Aylmora has a buff up before I resolve against her.

The other two hounds attack with savage bites both hitting unless you have buffs up still? if you activated any before descending the steps they will still be active.

Aylmora renewed her Mage Armor just before we tackled Ripnugget in the throne room - would that count?

Suddenly finding herself confronted by a strange flying hound, Aylmora reacts without thinking and unleashes a blast of uncontrolled phrenic energy at the creature.

Standard action to expend psionic focus to use Surge Blast on the creature in square I,15 - this is a supernatural ability, so it shouldn't provoke AoO.

Gornak grunts in pain as he steps back to the square Thanadros just vacated and swings his hammer again at the heavily wounded dog.

Thanadros wounds both hounds, and Gornak follows up the hail of arrows with a crushing blow from his hammer, shattering the skull of the dog that attacked him.

The third hound swoops in to the attack even as the second falls back 5' step to H-15 and howls. Once again, DC12 Will save.[/dice]

The third hound attacks [ooc]moving to J14, and Gornak gets an AoO as it passes the reach of his hammer. Reach weapons are nasty!

Is the hwol a fear effect? If so, +1 on saves from the bless

Again, Gornak's crushing blow makes the hound shudder, but doesn't stop it short.

Again Aylmora's invisible armour foils the dog's attack; again Gornack takes a painful bite. Grivlog breaks and flees down the passageway.

Seeing the hound savage Gornak, hearing the moan, Vaclav examines his friend more closely. He's taking the brunt of the attack. How long can he keep going?

HP is 10/24, I think. Luckily the GM rolled near-minimum damage both times!

The hound again tries to jerk Gornak's feet out from under him.

Gornak stays on his feet. Albrech cuts down the hound. Grivlog breaks and flees. Gob gives chase to his proto-tribe. The goblins flee down the passageway and into the large room, straight across it and into the door where Brathuzmus emerged.

"Look, it's okay to be scared. But stay here. I will protect you from danger, and my allies will kill those magic dogs."

The last hound is staggering, but still on it's feet as Aylmora's blast and Thanadros' arrows bombard it (been hit by three arrows and two phrenic blasts).

Gornak's action.

Gornak drops his beloved hammer, draws his garbage hook, and fearfully tries to snag the deadly hound with it.

Gornak's garbage hook disembowels the remaining hound, and with a last snap it quivers and expires. Even as you watch the three corpses smoke and start to evaporate.

Gornak puts away his hook (after wiping it off) and picks up his hammer.

"Whew, that was a close one. They scared the heck out of me! Speaking of which, where is Gob and his friends...?"

"Gob?" Gornak shouts out. "Where are you, little guy?"

"Do you think we need to go after him? By the way, Brother Vaclav, I'm hurt a bit. Do you think there's anything you can do?"

"What were those things?" Aylmora asks, watching the strange creatures smoke and evaporate.

"We can check out the creepy temple room later. After Gornak gets fixed up let's find that wizard before she brings more trouble down on us!"

[spoiler="Gob"]Gob is busy calming down nearly a dozen panicked goblins. When he finally does he has tearful declarations of fealty from them all. The females, though, will not leave this room - they are lovers, not fighters. Literally.

Which way is the party heading? Into the Temple or after the wizard?

Gornak will go after Gob, unless he rejoins them on his own. Otherwise, he might suggest taking a rest; aren't the spellcasters/manifesters kind of running out of pep?

I'm good to go on if everyone else is. Aylmora still has 9 power points left, plus some minor expendable magic items - she could probably handle one more good fight before needing to rest.

"What were those things?" Aylmora asks, watching the strange creatures smoke and evaporate.

Thanadros frowns. "Nothing good..." he mutters in response to Aylmora. "I agree. We should take the witch out, sooner the better."

Thanadros is at 100%, haven't used any spells yet. I'm down to rest if we need to.

One last try; maybe the smoking is a clue. Know (religion) 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 to know what they are.

Vaclav stares at the smoking remains, then his attention lurches back to his companions.

"I have few of Erastil's gifts of healing left. I must consider how to use them most wisely. Patience a moment, Gornak, while I think."

2 channels and one CLW convertible spell left. Got to do something for Gornak, we need him in the line of battle. Vaclav's down a couple hp. Thandros is good. How's everyone else?

Dabbler if I can't get back to post soon enough, my preference is to try a channel (2d6) if anyone else is down hp also. (And hit GOrnak with the CLW if the channel rolls poorly.) If no one else is hurt, then I'll burn the obscuring mist for a CLW (1d8+3) for Gornak now and make ready to channel early in the next combat.

Aylmora is at full health - 30/30 hp.

The woman fled through the door to the north. The prisoners are south-west of here.

...we do not have to wait for Vaclav to respond, the above is just info for him. What are people electing to do, the temple or after the wizard?

Since Gob doesn't seem to be coming back, Gornak heads after him.

Vaclav continues to frown at the smoking corpses. Suddenly his brow smooths. "Of course! These were summoned creatures of the abyss. They are wild and evil beyond measure, a sure sign of our enemy's foulness. "

Looks like just Gornak and Vaclav are down hp. When he returns, Vaclav casts CLW on Gornak.

Gob is talking the goblins down from their fear. This may take him some time.
